*Chapter 1*
Surprise Visitor
It was another warm spring day at the Shibuya mansion as the rays of the sun rained down on the blue sky and on Yumi's pale skin.
She had been gazing at her black rose garden for a while now as she does every morning, and for reasons unknown to her, she feels a sense of peace when she observes their beauty.
Ever since she was little, she had did all that she could to kepp her garden beautiful and blooming but she had always done her very best to the black rose bushes ever since her dear friend and butler, George, had planted them on the mansion's grounds around 10 years ago, she was 15 now.
Yumi and George have lived together in the Shibuya Estate for as long as she could remember; she had been left by her parents under George's care since she was 3 years old as they were in the other side of the world in the US, George and her are in the islands of Japan. They had never once visited her, birthdays, christmas, new years and festivals were always with George by her side, and she had never once complained or whined.
But as she grew older, she had started to wonder and question but all George had said to her was that they were probably busy and would call him later, but they never did, she knew they didn't, bringing her to the childish conclusion that they did not care for her thus plunging her to her own depression. Dark colors, horror, skulls, candles, knives and similar objects started to become her fancy, losing her smile and practically every other emotion she had to an endless void of misery and grief. George had tried to talk her out of it but she did not listen until he had given up and only comforted her when the emptiness was too much to bear.
The only joy she ever had were looking at her roses and being surrounded by their wondeful fragrance all day, though her expression would never change; the expression of a mask.
"Excuse me, miss Yumi" George's soft, low voice reached her ears, knocking her out of her trance.
She turned half her body around to look at the graying man, eyes blank but wondering, "Yes. What is it, George?" she asked knowing fully well it wasn't tea time yet.
"Please forgive my intrusion but a visitor has come to see you. He is in the living room as of this moment" he explained bowing lightly, his gray hair almost looking white under the morning sunlight.
'A visitor?', she thought to herself, confused. 'I had never had a visitor before'
"Thank you, George. Tell him I would be there shortly" she said curtly and her butler bowed again, muttering a short "Yes, miss Yumi" and taking his leave, heading straight for the mansion again.
Yumi turned to the roses once more, not wanting to leave the soft tranquility they held but unfortunately she had to, as to not be rude to her suprise visitor.
She pivoted on the ball of her foot and sauntered to the majestic white mansion in front of her that she knew like the back of her hand, almost every room holding a piece of her most cherished memories.
She entered the brown, side double doors of the mansion that led straight to the white marble hall decorated with tall gold rimmed pillars. She went on, her high heeled black dress shoes making low Tap Tap sounds that echoed along the empty hall.
Despite how it seemed, there're others residing in the Shibuya mansion, George had told her that at least 8 maids and 8 more butlers are present in the estate, doing housework aside from George, and although she rarely sees them, she doesn't feel alarmed at all of their presence.
This however, was putting her on Red Alert.
When Yumi had approached the living room, she could see George standing beside the opening that lead to the living room, and when she was close enough, he bowed to her and she turned her attention to her destination and guest.
The peach and green coloured living room was spacious and airy and placed at the very middle were 4 3-seater mint green couches around a solitary glass coffee table with a small flower vase on top of it. Other features of said room were its large scenery windows, the chandelier hanging from the ceiling, the brick fire place and next to that was an old-fashioned telephone on a small end table.
It would have all made a perfect picture, if it wasn't for the 2 colours that stood out and were basically ruining the entire portrait in her mind, yellow and gray.
It was a young man with messy, dirty blonde hair that feel neatly over his forehead, a sharp chiseled face and with his eyes closed, he seemed to be sleeping as he sat in the middle of one of the couches facing the wall to her left.
She approached him and sat at the couch across him, waiting for him to open his eyes. And when he did, like a tiger waking up from its slumber, she saw that his eyes were a shallow blue that reminded her of sapphires against the sun and even though his eyes were half lidded, she could see that his pupils were shaped like a cat's, giving him a bored but serious look.
Who was this guy?
He cleared his throat and finally spoke, "Good day to you, miss Ayumi Shibuya. It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance. I am Lloyd Valmont" he greeted, his smile not reaching his eyes.
She had a feeling he would've continued but chose not to, she ignored it. "The pleasure's all mine, Mr. valmont. So, what brings you here to my humble estate on such a fine day as this?" she asked politely, just wanting to get this all over with.
"Ah, yes. Of course. And all your questions will be answered once I remove this ring here" he announced, showing her the simple silver band on his pinky finger.
Yumi was confused. 'How'll a ring relate to what he was doing here?'
But when he started to remove the band, she heard George gasp behind her and when it was completely off, the air suddenly became thick around her along with men in the same butler unifrom as George coming into the room with guns pointed at the blonde.
She heard herself gasp in shock as she was leaning onto George's chest near the opening of the living room to the hall. 'What was going on?'
Lloyd sat unmoving on the couch looking unfazed as the 7 or so men surrounded him, their fingers on the trigger and ready to fire at any second.
He stood up casually quickly scanning the people surrounding him, not at all bothered by their weapons or the fact that it was 7 or 8 against 1.
"Listen to me, George Nathaniel. I was only ordered to bring back the girl. As long as you hand her over, I'll leave here peacefully without casualties" the blonde announced, looking directly at George and her, a depth seriousness in his tone.
George tensed beside her but said nothing as Yumi leaned helplessly onto him, shocked and utterly confused for the first time in her life time.
A tense second passed until George suddenly moved and they were off running in the Shobuya halls away from the room with that mysterious blonde man.
"George, what's going on?" Yumi demanded, feeling herself shaking with fear and surprise. It all happened too fast.
He said nothing but kept pullling her by the arm toward she doesn't know where.
She was scared, she didn't know what was going on. 'Why was George acting so strange all of a sudden?' 'Did he know that man?' 'What the heck was going on here?'
"George!" she nearly screamed, but it was enough to reach her butler and send him to a stop along with her.
They were panting from all the running and when she looked up at his eyes, they were wild and frightened like he's seen a ghost; she was almost brought to tears.
"I'm sorry, miss Yumi. But we really need to go now-!" but he was cut off when they heard gun shots in the distance from where they came from, making them freeze in their place, followed by an ominous silence, enough to kill.
Before Yumi could think of something to say, she was already being pulled by her white haired friend again.
Yum's heart was running on full speed, now frightened to be reached by that mysterious person.
After a while, George suddenly pulled her into a room she hasn't been into before. She was unshered in and placed between the vanity dressed and the bed, making her crouch down to the floor.
George bent down to her level as if to keep her there. "Forgive me , miss Yumi. But please stay here until I come back for you, alright?" his voice was hurried but soft as if everything would be okay after this nightmare.
She couldn't do anything but nod quickly before he stood up and left, locking the door behind him.
She waited and waited and waited but George never came back for her, the silence of the room was deafening and even if she clasped her hands over her ears, she still felt the heavy silence, it was driving her over the edge until... the door opened, letting the light of the hallway into the dark, gloomy room.
Yumi's heart jumped in glee that George was safe and alright but it suddenly feel when she got up, plannig on hugging him of relief, only to realiz he was not George, but their visitor.
His gray suit had splashes of blood here and there and their was a small cut on his cheek letting the crimson liqiud run down from it.
She was speechless, absolutely shocked, her legs collapsed under her, sending her to sit on her ankles while staring dumbly at the person she thought had killed George.
She couldn't speak, it felt too much for her, she wanted to cry, to thrash, to kick someone, to sream but she couldn't do it, she was stuck on the foor, not a word coming out of her mouth.
Her vision began to blur, she felt sick, and then she was faling, falling to the floor and into darkness... but he just stood there.
A/N: First chapter finished, Phew! Typing is hard.
