~Melodys'~

"Nicky! Get off me!"

"Rose! Don't be a lazy bugger, get up!"

It almost took me as much effort to open my eyes as to pull off my own arm. I sent Nicky the worst glare I could pull together in my sleepy state, which she just laughed at, and started to stretch. It took me about quarter of an hour to push myself off the bed and turn on the shower. And yet it took me another hour to be ready, my long chestnut hair dragged into a ponytail, a short black tank top had been pulled on and some high waisted shorts. And all that time my belly was churning like butter! A new school. New teachers. New lessons. New people! My fingers crossed themselves, hoping things would be different from my last school where everyone hated me for no reason, at all. Jogging downstairs I grabbed some drop scones, smearing chocolate sauce on them.

Nicky was sitting at the dining table. She sighed. "Ready at last, eh? Better get a move on, it's half eight already!"

My sister truly annoyed me, she loved to panic me, tease me, verbally hurt me, just to add. This time my glared response was neatened up, however that didn't stop my sister from giggling.

Quickly I scoffed down my drop scones and swung open the front door and leapt out. I started walking, shivers shooting down my spine. I didn't know what I was going to do once I got to school, but one thing was for sure, I wasn't going to show anyone I was nervous. After what seemed like a life time, when it was actually only five minutes, my new school stood in front of me. I took a shaky step towards the entrance. It was crowded with people, bustling to reach their destination. I was so transfixed in taking up my new surroundings I hadn't noticed the large amount of students crowding around me. Oh- yeah. I'm the new girl, almost forgot. The words were on my lips, however they stayed glued together. I took a step forward knowing that I really didn't have time to introduce myself to all the pushy guys and girls, individually. I was almost away when a slim figure slipped in front of me. She was about three inches taller than me and strikingly beautiful. Her emerald eyes slanted slightly, making her look a little evil. I chilled. Who said she wasn't. I pushed my fears away and straightened up, "hello."

"Hello, Rose."

I stiffened, she knew my name, "and you are?"

"Remy Lynn, you're the new girl, yeah?"

"Yeah..."

"Hmm..."

She seemed deep in thought.

"Wanna meet up for lunch or something?"

I looked at her for a second. She seemed okay. Clever, pretty, but there was

something else I couldn't put my finger on. She was also alone, why would a girl like her be alone? She was the kind I imagined to have a whole gang of pathetic followers, but there was something in her eye that said the complete opposite. Maybe she was just different. "Sure." Why not give it a go!

"Great," she smiled and stalked off.

I opened the door to biology and stepped inside. A middled aged man ho must have been Mr. Clark smiled, "Rose Willow," he acknowledged me, "welcome to my class."
I smiled back, "thank you." I took the only available seat in the room. Biology was my favourite subject, I hoped to be a vet when I was older. I glanced to my left and my right. I was seated next to a small blond girl with glasses and a boy with brown shaggy hair. After a bit, when she had a chance, the girl turned to me and whispered, "hey."

"Hi," I smiled, she had bright blue eyes that were sort of hypnotic, "I'm Rose Willow." I introduced myself politely nodding to her as I did so.
"Yeah, I'm Avery Thorn, nice to meet you."

"Likewise."

"You like Biology?"

"Yeah, I wanna to be a vet!"

"Awesome! I'm not sure what I want to be..."

"You'll figure it out in time."

Something popped in her brain, she looked a little excited,"hey, you got anyone to sit with for lunch?"

"Yeah, a girl named Remy Lynn."

Avery's eyes widened, "you know what she does for a living, right?"

"Errr, no..." I looked at her confused, what was she so panicked about?

"She's a bleeding criminal!" Her words came out hissed, rushed and slightly wobbly.

"Oh my god..." That explained a lot. The weird look in her eye, the no friends and the lethal way she moved around. "What kind of 'criminal stuff' does she do?"

"Mostly stealing, she's know as the 'slink' or something to the police, they don't know who she is though, they just recognise her handiwork."

I stared at her, puzzled. How did she know? I converted my thoughts into words.

Avery blushed and looked away, "I suppose I shouldn't really have told you but... you need a warning, god knows what she's up to. Plus- I used to be her 'best friend'." She sighed, "turns out the girl is incapable of getting along with anyone, except her lovely, new 'bad influence' boy friend!" She angled her eyes towards a heavily built, black haired guy at the back of the class. He looked truly evil. His eyes were covered by his long, side fringe. His jaw was clenched and cheeks sucked in.

"Oh." Was the only response I could think of. We sat for the rest of the lesson, listening to Mr. Clark. It was nearing the end of my first lesson ever in my new school when Avery leaned over to me again. "I could come to lunch with you and Remy if you like? Only if you are feeling a bit uncomfortable... I mean... Not that you would, b-but?"

I grinned, she seemed really genuine and I couldn't see a reason why not, "sure you can come!"

She smiled, "thanks."

The next two lessons flew by. Now I knew who and what Remy was I was kind of nervous. She was the first there, her long auburn hair had been pulled back in to a messy bun and she was chewing on a burger, all the while making a disgusted face. I joined her, "hey." I praised myself for doing a good job and keeping my feelings out of my voice, "Avery is joining us."

Remy's eyes narrowed into green slits, "Avery Thorn?"

I nodded stiffly, to be honest I was terrorfied now I had seen Remy again, I totally understood how she was a criminal, she had all the needed traits. I dug into my pasta, avoiding eye contact.

"Did she tell you anything?"

It was lucky I had done drama in my old school for three years otherwise I may not have pulled my lie off. "What do you mean?"

"Doesn't matter," she leaned back into her seat, burger still in her hand and took a bite. "So, tell me more about you."

I really didn't know what to do, for all I knew she was planning on robbing me and trying to find out everything she could get to know about me. For some strange reason I started telling her my life story. I was stupid today. "Me and Nicky are sisters, our parents died five years ago, I was only 12. Me and Nicky lived with Grandma for four years until last year, when Nicky turned 19, and we moved out."

"And you have just moved here?"

"Yeah, our last place was a little... rough..."

She nodded as though she knew exactly what I was on about. I silently kicked myself. I barley knew the girl and I had spilt everything. We ate in the silence until Avery turned up. She grinned nervously and settled in the chair next to me, making sure she kept a third eye on Remy...obviously just in case... I watched Remy give Avery a odd look then concentrate on her food again. We were nearing the end of lunch when a guy called Ryan sat at our table, I knew his name because people were practically calling after him. I didn't know what to say, he was striking. Avery just gaped at him before starting to choke on her pizza but Remy simply stared. Well, more like glared. He looked me up and down, sending shivers down my spine, then looked back to Remy.

"So, sweety, party tonight, you coming?"

Remy didn't react. Not a bit. She kept her glare steady, not a floor in her gaze. I wondered how she did it.

"Might be, not with you."

Her reply was simple, the not bothered kind. I couldn't believe she had just rejected him! He must have been the best looking guy in the school! It didn't look possible to reject him, not sane. I thought he was going to go off it. He didn't.

"Don't be like that, Remy, I just thought... It would be nice..." He smirked, Remy narrowed her eyes.

"Hmm... No. Your not my type."

"What is your type? Your pathetic boyfriend! Ha, all he has is muscles and the ability to say no!"

"People who are like me."

"Oh, we are more alike than you think! I mean, look at you."

I new exactly what he meant, they were both stunning people, however, that doesn't mean their personality are going to be anything alike. I also wondered what was Remy's type, criminals, like her? Like her boyfriend. Chilled, I carried on listening.

"Can you just leave, Ryan, before you get to know the real me." This time it was Remy who smirked, a glint in her eye. I now didn't know who I was more afraid of, they both looked to have power, and a lot of it, I guess they just used it in different ways.

Ryan sighed, "I wasn't planning on staying." He stood up and swaggered over to a table holding who must have been the 'popular' crowd, including the girls who giggled hopelessly when he approached. "Who the?" I turned to ask Remy.

"Ha! Ryan Lancaster! He ain't worth it, don't know if I've met a bigger player in my life! He loves himself, shame he owns this school."

"Owns?"

"Yeah, everyone obeys everything he says because he has attitude, he gets crazy when people say no and he is one of best looking guys in the school."

I knew he was one of the best looking guys in the school from first glance but something else was nagging on my mind. "You said no."

"Yes, but you don't argue with Remy," Avery butted in.

I sent Avery a grin and turned to Remy, "no arguing with Remy, eh?" Her grin almost knocked me off my chair in terror, no wonder she went so well with that evil guy I had seen in class. "No. You don't tend argue with me!"

At the end of the day I stepped out of school with Avery, shivering. Yeah, it may be summer, but summer in England: freezing. Lets not go onto how it's like in winter. I was still nervous, everyone was staring at the 'new girl'. To be honest, it annoyed me. We spotted Remy sitting on the school gate, watching everyone and everything with a suspicious glance, her eyes darted around like a tiger hunting pray. She spotted the guy in our class today, her boyfriend, and rushed over. They held hands and started swaying towards the exit, talking. You would have thought that a guy with his size and ability would totally take over any girlfriend he got, but any girlfriend was not Remy. Just by the way they walked together it showed that they were equal, no-one wore the trousers yet, and by no doubt it would have to be decided soon.

Avery snapped me out of my thoughts. "Look!" She hissed, "it's Crazy Shade, he's coming towards us!"

I spun round to come face to face with, who must be, Crazy Shade. I was pretty curious by this guy that I had been a centimetre away from walking into. He was tall, muscular, he stood his stance though there was a way that he slumped to the side that indicated that he didn't have much self confidence, and his face... Well, I couldn't see his face. He wore a black balaclava and a hood connected to a grey hoody. The only part of his face you could see was his blue eyes and a segment of his lips. He looked at me, his eyes burning holes into mine, "sorry." His voice was weird, if you want my opinion. Any other girl would have gone crazy over it but it freaked me out. He sounded... Distant, silvery and deep. He turned and slumped off. Avery was gaping at me. I didn't know why. We walked on for about another, what was it? One second, before she spoke.

"You just got more than a sound out of Crazy Shade's mouth."

"So?" I was confused, I wanted to know why she was bringing that up.

"He doesn't speak to a soul." She said it simply.

"He didn't seem like the kind."

"He's not. We all think he's off his nutter saying: He doesn't speak, he lives in corners, his eyes are all glares and he wont show his face or hair, though if I had to bet I would say... brown hair?."

"Hmm," I really didn't know what the big deal was about, everything I had found out so far made me pity the guy, he must be lonely and lost in life. Avery didn't say anything else and we started towards the exit. Avery actually only lived a block away from me and we had agreed to walk home together, plus I saw Avery as my best friend in this school, which I thought was funny because I had only been here a day. Once again Avery banished my thoughts, "What you doing tonight?"

"Nothing, my sisters going to see her friends so...?"

"Fancy the party at Ryan's?"

"Hmm..." I considered it, "might as well, it'll be fun." I winked at her.

She grinned, "great! Meet you at yours?"

"Yeah, 7 O'clock, mine."

"Good, good. Anyway, what do you think of Remy?"

I studied Avery, wondering why she wanted to know. I then figured she wanted to know that I'm not trusting Remy, too much. "She's unbelievable." It was the truth, she was stunning, clever, snappy, bitchy, and best of all, she could defend herself with the amount of effort it took to walk, not that I had experienced it but I had been told a few story's in the last few lessons.

Avery nodded, "she's pretty formidable, you haven't even seen the real her yet! But you have to be careful around her, she's crafty, I'm not quite sure what she wants out of you. Keep your eyes pealed."

"Already am." It was hard enough not to stare at her.

"That's aright then."

Avery arrived at mine ten minuets early to double check outfits. She wore a short, tight black skirt with a baggy white top tucked in. I wore a mid-thigh, royal blue halter neck with my black heals. We both agreed that we looked good, in the least modest way possible. We hoped into my Aston Martin Virage Volante convertible.

Avery pipped up while admiring the leather seats, "this your parents car?"

I sighed, "no, my parents aren't with us any more."

Avery's hand clamped over her mouth, she looked horrified, "oh my god, Rose, I'm so sorry! I didn't know..."

"It's okay, they died when I was 12, it's just me and my sister now."

"Ah, so you got the car in the..."

"Will, yeah. But it wasn't the car itself, just enough money to feed the world."

Avery nodded.

I carried on, "it's not so great having all this money though, it doesn't make you happy. My sister gives me a hard time and not a lot goes right these days. We only got the money a year ago because of legal reasons, that's when we moved here. It was great at first, we had everything but it's not worth the hassle, in the end it's all the same."

Avery nodded once more and repeated, "I'm sorry."

I replied swiftly, "don't be, you didn't kill them." I had to admit it annoyed me slightly when people apologized for what they didn't do.

We reached Ryan's within ten minuets and hopped out of the car, which by the way must have been one in a hundred. The place was simply packed. We slipped in and made our way though the throng of people. Ryan's house was massive. Every room must have been at least 10 meters by 10 meters, if not more. We managed to get to the living room and located a few free chairs. I settled down while Avery went to get drinks and started taking in my surroundings.

Ryan was with his 'popular' friends in the centre of the living room laughing along with them. It didn't take long for the 'I love myself bitch gang' to make there way to them, fluttering their eyelashes pathetically.

My eyes wondered to the corner of the room where I spotted Remy and her boyfriend. He was busy beating the hell out of a guy because he tried to hit on Remy, no one had noticed because he had cornered him and I could only see from where I was sitting. I probably would have loved to be protected by that but guess what? Not Remy. She glared at him and I read her lips which said, 'I can take care of myself.' I laughed under my breath and watched the show. The poor guy, who had a bleeding lip and a black eye, scurried away at his lucky chance for escape while Remy's boyfriend was distracted. He cursed so loud I could even hear it over all the shouting and the thumping music coming from the bass speakers. Spinning on the balls of his feet he swaggered off, steam practically flowing out his ears while starting his search for the escape.

Remy shook her head and collapsed down into a chair, her jaw taunt. It didn't take long for Ryan to spot his chance to get to Remy. He was upon her in a second, flirting horrendously. She slowly stood up and I watched her reply to all his comments smoothly, her eyes glowing a bright green. The conversation turned more vicious until Ryan hit a nerve. I could tell this because Remy's face transformed from a smooth, relaxed and nasty look to one of pure shock and horror. I only just caught it because her face was back to her normal stance in a second and she was fuming. It didn't take long for Remy to withdraw her hand from her pocket and slam it full force into Ryan's face. He stumbled and fell back, crushing a girl behind him, who had been

desperately trying to get his attention. They had everyone's attention now.

I didn't know why but I wanted to see if the girl on the floor was okay, even if she was one of the girls in the 'bitchy gang.' I rushed over and leant down beside her, "you okay?"

I was right about her, "what do you think!"

"Well um... I don't actuallyknow." I decided on sarcasm.

She sent me a glare though her false eyelashes and then screamed, "Ryan! This girl is... Harassing me!"

She said it as though she was clever to know the word 'Harassing.'

Ryan pulled himself of the floor and without looking at the girl he said, "shut up for a minuet, Gale, don't bother me right now."

She huffed, pulled herself up and stalked over to her bunch of tarty friends. Ignoring the taunts from them I turned my attention back to Remy, who was no longer alone. Her boyfriend was with her and he looked like he had gone mental.

Remy had turned to him, "don't bother Trent, you'll just get your self in jail again."

I gasped and looked around wildly, no one had noticed, they had all fixed themselves on the brewing fight.

"Be quite Remy, this git deserves his head on a spike." Before she could reply, obviously pissed off, Trent had leapt away from her and crashed into Ryan. The two came to full blows but Trent had the advantage with his size. With in the next blink he had Ryan pinned, his fingers digging deep into his shoulders. He hissed menacingly, "you even think about touching her and you wont know the difference between black and white."

I watching intently, my blood roaring. I hadn't realized that Avery had returned and was also watching the fight. The next thing that happened made me splutter on my drink which I was absently sipping on. Gale had stalked up to Remy and put a finger in her face, "Why the hell is the bitch of the century always causing things like this? It's pathetic! Maybe you should consider things, I mean, really! Not like your anything special with you abusing family and dead brother!"

This is when the popular gang screamed, Ryan stopped fighting Trent and A nerd in the corner fainted. Gale had hit a nerve. Remy had drawn a knife.
