Oh, raven! Sweet raven,

I admire thee,

Yes, strangely -

I do -

I admire you.

For you face the ridicule of everyday,

And you listen to people say,

"You doth bring such foreboding,

thou wretched, wretched thing!"

Only I can see,

That you are just a bird -

And nothing more.

Oh, raven! Sweet raven,

You've brought no harm to me!

So how could they be so cajoled?

Again, I am bewildered.

What have you delivered,

Unto others that they may think you a foe?

Alas, I may never, never know!
