Chapter 2: Recalling memories
Her curly brunette hair were entwined in his fingers as she gently snored. The boy smiled, twirling her brown locks as he continued rowing the boat.
"Ever wondered of going somewhere we've never been before?" the girl's eyes twinkled.
"Well, if it's what you want, how can I object?" the boy laughed and grabbed her hand, reaching for the pier, wearing dark cloaks in order to not arouse any suspicion. They paid the money and gently climbed onto a little rowing boat, both talking and joking. After sailing for ten minutes and escaping the townspeople, the girl slipped the cloak off, revealing a pretty, oval face, with pale lips and rosy cheeks. Her doe brown eyes sparkled like the waters as she chatted and laughed with the boy. Eventually, he took his cloak off too, showing his oval face and messy raven black hair, kind smile and caring purple-blue eyes. They slowly went down a narrow river, admiring the woodlands and wildlife that passed them.
"Hey Kas?" the girl asked, looking up at her lover.
"Mm?" he replied, nuzzling his head into her neck.
"I want you to have this," she said, taking off a golden locket. When opened, it revealed a small picture of the boy and girl smiling together. She fastened it around his neck and smiling sweetly.
"I wish we could be like this all the time," she sighed, placing her head on his lap. He stroked her hair affectionately.
"Sometimes, I wish I wasn't the Lord's son and you weren't an outlaw," he pecked her on the cheek and she slowly dozed off, the only sound being the ripples of water and small splashes coming from the oar.
The girl's eyes snapped open and she got up, yawning.
"Morning, sunshine."
She laughed and sat next to the boy, taking an oar off him. They slipped their hoods back on and rowed back to the pier, climbing on to the wooden planks. Before both of them realised what was happening, the girl's wrist had been twisted behind her back, being dragged away by rough soldiers, and the boy was being snatched away by guards.
"Kaspian!" the girl screamed, tears spilling down her cheek.
"Noelle!" the boy shouted, trying to escape the guards. They continiously screamed out to each other, Kaspian trying to get his sword out and save her. The look of despair in her eyes continued to haunt her as he struggled to get free, elbowing one of the guards in the pelvis and running down the cobblestone roads, trying to catch up to Noelle. Grabbing his sword out of his pouch, he slashed his way closer and closer to her.
Closer and closer to the doors to the prisons.
When he reached the massive, wooden boards, it was too late.
The guards caught up to Kaspian and took him back to his father - the mayor. The man who shared his very blood cells. The man who had sought to kill Noelle.
"A disgrace. That's all you are. Talking to a girl like her, nay, falling in love with her, is a crime already. She's a bloody skank. She's making you fall in love with her, so she can manipulate you and use you to hurt us." the Mayor spat, glaring at his son with beady eyes. Kaspian clenched his fists until they went white. He didn't know Noelle. No-one did. That sweet caring girl wasn't what they wanted to believe. That stupid bastard had no right to talk about her like that, he thought.
"Get out of my sight," he snapped.
The mayor sent his son into his room, bolting the doors. A pitiful maid came in and gave him fresh water, food and clothes. Kaspian stared out of the window in sadness.
"I have news for you," Faylinn said. A young woman had unbolted Kaspian's doors and sat next to him on his massive bed. She gently stroked his hair with her kind blue eyes gazing at him and her soft, blonde hair falling past her shoulder in curls. Tears started spilling down Kaspian's cheeks.
"Noelle used to stroke my hair," he said, breaking down into sobs. Faylinn gently dabbed his cheeks and looked him straight in the eye. She was the nicest maid by far to Kaspian, who would always help him in his time of need.
"She is going to be hung today afternoon," she said quietly. The sobbing stopped, and his sad face hardened and turned cold. He pushed Faylinn aside and swung the doors open, trying to fend off the guards that were holding him back. The maid quickly got up again, not hurt by Kaspian's sudden action, and pulled him aside, swinging the door shut.
"If you want to hurt anyone, then take it out on me," she trembled, her lip quivering as she spoke. Never had she seen kind, gentle Kaspian become so violent. He grabbed her and threw her into the wall with a loud crash.
"Get out. Now," he threatened. Faylinn nodded, before limping off, her lip bleeding and a bruise already forming on the back of her head. Kaspian smashed through the windows and leapt out, running down the street and barging into the prison cells. Shoving the guards aside, he reach a small cell, where a young woman sat crying softly. Kaspian's hard face turned kind when she saw him. Noelle's face lit up and she ran towards the hard prison bars.
"Kaspian," she murmured, gently caressing his cheek through the cell bars.
"I'm getting you out, Noelle, don't worry," he said determinedly. She smiled weakly.
"There's no point, Kas. I've been running away from fate for too long. It's time to embrace my death with warmth," she murmured, another tear trickling down her cheek. He gently wiped it away.
"Kaspian, get out!" she screamed. He turned his head round, but it was too late. A blow to the chest and he crumpled to the ground, not before seeing the guards slit Noelle's throat, despite her weak protests.
That was it. A beautiful, innocent girl dead.
Kaspian's revenge was far from over.
xXxXxX
A young man fell to the ground, his face drained of blood. A small vial started to fill with the crimson liquid, as a young woman watched by, frightened that she may die the same fate.
"Now you know how it feels to lose someone you love," a man said coldly. Faylinn looked up at him, her eyes brimming with tears.
"Now, will you join me?" he said, offering his hand. His face softened, and the maid felt less worried. But her fiancee... he could feel no more. She took his hand delicately, and he swooped to her soft, full lips, kissing her passionately. He felt her delicate body tremble at his touch, and he deepened the kiss. Faylinn couldn't help but enjoy it, pulling at his hair and moaning as he nibbled her ear. A tear fell to the ground.
"You're mine now," he whispered into her ear, his cold breath making her shiver.
"Yes, Kaspian," Faylinn murmured.
Waah, talk about a cliffhanger! This is certainly a new writing experience for me... I don't normally include that much detail *points to the last couple of sentences*
