There's a girl sitting on the curb,
Hair falling over her eyes,
Hands clasped in front of her knees,
Coat wrapped tightly around her slim shoulders.
Clouds of rain hover above,
But she doesn't move.
Even as the drops begin to fall over her,
She remains still.
Cars zoom by flinging water in her face;
People run along hidden under umbrellas.
The world moves on around her,
But all the while she sits there
Until one person stops.
One person notices she's there.
And he stops to sit by her in the bone chilling rain,
Also allowing the water to fall freely over him.
Offering her his jacket,
They sit there,
Until the rain stops,
And the world slows down.
