Mask -The Fifth Dimension-

Mask

By Michael Collins

I wake up in the morning

My soul is bare and free

I find my skin and put it on—

It never seems to fit me.

I'm searching for my face

And I find one of gladness

I know it's not the right one, but

It masks my gloom and sadness.

When I look around and see

The merry people, faces happy

I cannot help wondering

If they might not be just like me.

(A hateful facade

Into it I have made

Hiding in shade,

My true purpose will fade.)
