My mother says I have a beautiful nose.
Everyone says I have a beautiful nose.
And I would take that as a compliment
But then again what would they know?

My mother said I needed braces.
Everyone said I needed braces.
My teeth stuck out in the oddest places
So braces I got, and then I saw changes.

Maybe all I needed was to fix these ugly pieces:
My dopey eyes
My fat lips
My bushy eyebrows
My sparse, pathetic eyelashes
My crooked smile
That one ear that sticks out more than the other
My chicken wire, black hair
My dome-like forehead
I can't afford all this!

So I'll just tell myself I have beautiful
Puppy dog eyes
Luscious lips
Dark, eyebrows
Dainty eyelashes
A lopsided smile
An ear that likes to wave
Hair that is ageless
And intelligence.

My mother says I have a beautiful nose.
Everyone says I have a beautiful nose.
And I would take that as a compliment
But then again what would they know about loveliness?
