The cocoon trapped them for years,
And no one cried.
We couldn't look outside
Of ourselves.
They could only bend so far.
Then one day:
All gone.
Floods of heartbreak,
Deluge of repression.
A faint flicker of a spark
Becomes a wildfire.
We lit up like rockets
Because we suddenly saw
The bright lights at night:
Their eyes.
A thunderous shaking of the earth.
A great earthquake of emotion
As they burst out
The mighty clash of oppressed
Against oppressor:
A breath of fresh air.
We cried in jubilation;
Then one day we forgot.
