Chapter 2:
Finally the bell rang for us to all go home. I left the class before everyone, got in my car before everyone, and left before everyone too. My tires screeched along the car park cement as I hastened to leave the school grounds. In the rear view mirror- my sister hugging her newly made friends. As planned she would fit in, as easily as she had done so at our old school. A whinging emo sounded through my stereo singing songs of heartache and love and something about being taken away with streetlights. I didn't care. I skipped a few more tracks til I found something I liked. "Keep the Change (You Filthy Animal)". It was a catchy song that wasn't reeking lovesick lyrics about some girl who left cos she wouldn't fuck him or something. I stopped at a traffic light abruptly avoiding eye contact from a few passing pedestrians. Not that they could see me through the dark window tints on my car. The light finally turned green, I stomped my foot on the accelerator and flew past stores and shops in an instant. I got home about 30 seconds later. I drove in the direction of our U-shaped driveway til I stopped right at the front door. I slammed my car door shut; not bothering to lock it. I walked round the front of the car and strode into the house letting myself in. I walked into the kitchen where my mother and father were sitting- as usual talking about nonsense.
"Aaron how was school?" my mother smiled.
"Could've been better," I shrugged as I threw an apple into the air and watched it spin before catching it and taking a vigorous bite.
"Where's your sister?' my father grumbled
"Probably socialising," I said rolling my eyes.
"And you're not?" my father eyed me suspiciously.
"Didn't feel like it," I shrugged as I turned to walk to my bedroom.
"Aaron." My mother said quietly "Come here,"
I closed my eyes and turned around. I opened them to find her smiling.
"Tell me what happened," she said softly.
"I almost lost it mom," I said quietly. "I almost lost control- I don't think I can go back,"
"What do you mean? You 'lost control'?" my father said folding up his newspaper.
"I just snapped and walked away- without any reason for me to be angry,"
"Don't worry honey. Go get some sleep,"
And with that I walked up the stairs in our new home to my bedroom. We had moved from our Chicago home 3 days ago. It was funny how much we had gotten done in 3 days. An entire house furnished without lifting a finger.
I turned the doorknob leading me to my room. I honestly didn't know how they did it- An exact replica of my old room. The same dark blue walls, the same burgundy wooden floors even the lighting in my room matched the atmosphere of my old home. The only thing that was missing was Rachel. I missed her so much. I lay out on my bed and pulled the covers over my head.
Slowly drifting off to sleep I saw flickers of a person running. A girl. It was dark, a full moon in the dark night sky. Flickers of her fear flashed before my eyes. She ran and ran til her feet wouldn't obey her dying wish. My eyes fed off her fear. A grin spread across my lips. There was something about the look in her eyes that gave me the thirst to kill. She screamed but no one would hear her here. Had her mother not taught her to never walk alone after dark? Her heart quickened as I bent down to her neck. A twig snapped me out of my train of thought. I looked around; all I saw was Rachel standing in the glow of the moonlight. Her skin as white as paper; her eyes as red as rubies. She needed to feed, so much more than I. I looked back at the shivering girl between my hands and snapped her neck.
"Where's the fun in that?" Rachel sighed as her voice echoed in my mind. I shivered as she ran her fingers along my back touching my skin.
"I couldn't let it get away now could I?" I sighed as I mused over our dead prize.
"I could have gotten it easily, but don't like it," she sighed as she snaked her fingers around my waist.
"We'll find you another," I said as I kissed her lips. Her eyes widened as she tasted the blood that had lingered on my mouth. I knew she couldn't resist the temptation. "Go find us something to eat,"
With that she ran off into the night in search of something to kill.
I shot up and opened my eyes. It was just a dream.
I pulled out my phone and called her cell. Like I had promised her this afternoon I would call her back.
"Hey baby" she said cheerfully.
"Someone's happy," I grinned.
"I had a feeling you'd call," she grinned.
"I just wanted to hear your voice, that's all," I lay out on my four posted king sized bed and sighed.
"Don't worry. I'll see you sooner than you can imagine," she grinned.
I blinked as something flashed behind my eyes. A house?
"Babe. You. Aren't. Here," I said slowly as I shot up.
"Why would I be?" she grinned. I knew she was lying.
"You are so dead when I get you," I warned.
"Oh I'm so scared" I could just imagine her rolling her eyes. There was that dreary dial tone echoing through my cell. I threw my phone on my bed and raced down the stairs not bothering to make myself look presentable. I wrenched the door open to find my irresistible girlfriend standing in my doorway.
I threw my arms around her and kissed her lips. How? I wondered.
"I'm on break remember,"
"Oh yeah," I sighed. "Come on in."
"So much for me being dead when I got here," she smirked
I laced my fingers in hers as I closed the front door behind us. I kissed her forehead as we walked into the kitchen.
"Not so grumpy?" My mother grinned as she hugged Rachel.
I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"It's good to see you again Rachel," my mother smiled
"I saw you just three days ago!" Rachel laughed.
I blushed. I was a hopeless romantic. I loved her so much I couldn't even be away from her for more than a few days.
"Come on," I grinned as I put my arm around her waist and took her to my room.
"It's exactly the same," she grinned as she lay on my bed with me
"Yeah. I was just thinking that. It was funny; I thought to myself 'the only thing missing is Rachel' then you pop up out of nowhere. So now my room is complete," I kissed her lips and smiled as I touched her cheek so softly. A thousand years could pass us by and I wouldn't take notice. I loved her so much it hurt me to see her leave. Her soft pink lips, her chocolate brown eyes, and her hazel brown hair everything about her was so... perfect. Even the way her hair fell on her shoulders. I could never ask for anything else. But being the greedy bastard I was; I still wanted more.
"You missed me that much," she grinned as she snuggled closer to me.
"You have no idea," I sighed as I closed my eyes.
"I've got a feeling," she grinned as she kissed my lips.
"You do, do you?" I grinned as I kissed her neck.
"Yeah," she smiled as I continued kissing her all over.
"That's good," I grinned. "You're hungry baby," I said shortly after.
"I'm fine," she smiled.
"Don't lie to me," I said as I stroked her cheek.
"I can't do anything about it," she sighed.
I kissed her lips and held her in my arms. There was something that could be done, but I didn't want to risk it.
"What about a date," I grinned.
"A date?" she snorted.
"Pizza. You. Me. Up on that hill," I smiled pointing to the hill outside my window.
"It's no helpless human," she grumbled "but it'll do,"
"That's my girl," I grinned as I kissed her forehead. I pulled out my cell and dialled for two Hawaiian pizzas to be delivered to our address as soon as possible.
I opened the front door and paid the pizza guy for our pizzas. I walked back to my room to find Rachel grinning at me.
"What?" I smiled.
"I wouldn't mind her," she grinned as Cherry's face flickered in my mind.
"She's all yours," I smirked.
Rach shook her head as if to chase the thoughts away. "Come on," she smiled as she took my hand and jumped out my window. I rolled my eyes and follow after her.
She lay in my arms as we sat on the hill behind my house.
"I really have missed you," I sighed.
"I know," she giggled
"You should transfer here," I said as I kissed her hair.
"You serious?" she laughed as she looked up at me
I looked her in the eyes and kissed her lips "Why wouldn't I be? I miss you like crazy even though I moved three days ago,"
"That's true,"
"Besides, if anyone ever found out back home we'd have to move. The only reason we left was because that stupid Robert's boy got too close to Stel." I grumbled. "And now we have to live here,"
"It's okay," she smiled "It's not that bad. I mean I can always visit,"
"Seeing as your on break you can stay with me right? I mean your parents wouldn't care?" I grinned
"Probably not,"
"But won't you enrol? We're not even close to finishing high school. I've just entered senior school," I grinned.
"How many times have you begged me?"
"Not enough," I grinned.
"If anything happens I promise I'll come to you. How does that sound?"
I sighed and held her close. "I love you," I whispered so softly.
'I love you more," she said in my ear as she kissed my cheek.
We sat in silence as we watched the sun set on the horizon. Sneaking in a kiss every now and then, everything was perfect.
"So how was your day?"
"It was good. I'm pretty sure every guy in the entire school was hitting on Stel," I chuckled
"Why am I not surprised? She's such a beautiful girl," Rach grinned. "I wish I could be there. It was so fun when we used to muck around at school. You, Mr Popular, a.k.a. the boy every girl drooled over, and the guy every girl's boyfriend envied. And me, just me, all alone with my perfect boyfriend"
"You could come join me," I tried once more.
"I could... but," she said softly
"What's stopping you? You've got the money, you've got the freedom, nothing's holding you back," I said quietly.
"I just don't want to pack up and leave,"
"Why not? You're just going to wait til something bad happens then pack up and leave?" I grumbled
"It's not like that," she said clearly irritated "I grew up there Aaron. Before I met you- I grew up with all the other girls and boys. I can't just leave without giving them a reason for me to go!"
We sat in silence, but it wasn't one of those peaceful moments where one would enjoy the others' company. It was one of those awkward moments where one could cut the tension in the air with a knife. It was one of those silences.
"Babe, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything," I said a while later.
"Don't worry. I shouldn't have snapped,"
"You. Snapped," I laughed rolling my eyes "Whatever. I'm the one who should be begging for forgiveness and as a matter of fact I will,"
I pushed her away then held her close. I stared into her eyes and smiled.
"I'm sorry for treating you like as arse. I don't know what came over me. I was just so caught up in the fact that you could move here with me and I was blinded by my own bitter judgement to realise. Rachel Annelise Cohen, please forgive me,"
"Aaron Riley Preston, stop it," she said stifling a laugh behind her luscious lips.
"You forgive me? I won't stop apologising til you forgive me,"
"I forgive you," she said laughing.
"Good, because I really do mean it," I grinned as I kissed her lips.
"Good, because I really do forgive you," she smiled as she hugged me.
"Come on. We'll go inside. It's getting a bit dark tonight,"
"It is," she chuckled as I laced my fingers in hers and walked back home.
Everything was perfect; the love of my life, beside me and my family; who knew what we were. Whoever said that 'all that glistened was not gold' lied to us all. There were only three people who knew my secret- no one could change that; and no way in hell was I going to ever let it go.
So that was chapter two; hope you enjoyed it (: please review (even if you think it sucks...). hate it? Love it? Want to kill it? Just review. =DDDDDDDD all my love; VKEE «3
