It was risky. It was crazy. It was completely stupid.

But it worked.

When Doubt and I went speeding through the air towards that chimera, I honestly didn't think that thing would feel anything, but when my (his? Our?) foot hit that beast a massive shockwave knocked the two of us away. (well, three since I was possessed, this stuff is confusing)

I don't know how this magic stuff works, but while the chimera was launched with enough force to go through several buildings, I didn't go far at all, just going back a few feet before Doubt took over. He did a somersault before sliding down the very lamppost we jumped off of earlier.

Nearing the bottom of the lamppost, Doubt just kicked off of it and landed in what I believe he thinks was the coolest way to do so, sliding on the ground and kicking up dust as he lost momentum.

Yuko was just about eight feet away from us; she had a look of disbelief on her face. I'm guessing either she was too shocked by this turn of events, or she was frozen with fear.

Doubt started laughing as he started walking towards her, that's definitely a bad sign.

Even though I had a pretty good idea of what he was thinking, I asked anyways, "What are you going to do now?"

"Well," Doubt answered back, "how does the ending to every rescue romance go?

Wait a sec, is this guy honestly considering doing what I think he is? I mean, as cute as Yuko is…

Wait, since he's possessing me, doesn't that mean I'll be held responsible for anything he does?

"NO!" I shouted, somehow gaining partial control over my body, "Yuko! Get out of here!"

Yuko took a step back, I'm guessing she knew what was going on, but was trying to decide if running off would help more than her staying, but ultimately left to help out her allies…I think.

At this point, I had stopped Doubt from moving my body through sheer willpower alone. Well, not completely, we were fighting for control over it. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some aura going around me during this, and I'm pretty sure that I was shifting back and forth between how I looked before and after Doubt possessed me.

Doubt was taken by surprise, "No way, are you seriously able to fight back? Even after all this time? Not to mention that this we formed a pact, a freaking pact!"

I think he's scared; victory must be within my grasp. Whatever I was doing was working, so I decided to do it more.

"No way…I actually have to use half of my power? You're probably the second most resistant human I've met!" Doubt's surprise was completely replaced by excitement. "You're her son aren't you? At the very least, you've gotta be a Lawbreaker!

"You seem awfully cheery."

"Heh," Doubt ignored me, "Show your power!" Show me how far you're willing to go to protect whatever it is that you care about!"

I'm pretty sure this guy is just crazy, but what does he mean by 'Her son' and 'Lawbreaker?' While I was curious, I didn't think about what Doubt said for too long, I had to focus on taking back my body.

!

Suddenly, a massive pain went through me, someone had broken through the 6 feet threshold that surrounded me. I didn't have time to brace myself; that pain was too much and I completely stopped fighting against Doubt.

"Wait…that's it?" Doubt seemed to be feeling a mix of disappointment and frustration. "Argh! Don't give up now! We're almost there, don't-"

"Just what do you think you're doing?"

A rather feminine voice had questioned Doubt in a superior tone. I guess that means she's his boss.

"M-M-Misery!?" Doubt was definitely surprised, though I'm not sure if there was some fear mixed in too. "I-I wasn't th-thinking about you, or anything like that!"

"Tch." Misery sent a glare at me, erm, Doubt. Her red eyes seemed as if they just cut through me. "I've had enough of that fake tsundere act of yours; can't you do your job without fooling around?"

Doubt shrugged, "C'mon Misery, you're such a killjoy, you need to have some fun once in a while or you'll get all old and wrinkly."

…now that Doubt mentioned it, if you look closely at Misery, you can just barely see a few gray strands among her long black hair….wait….she is kinda wrinkly, no wait, that's just her annoyed face.

But instead of lashing out in anger, Misery sighed and stayed rational, "Doubt, don't you realize how much danger we're in? Not to mention all the trouble you're always causing when you fool around like this."

"So what? If Rage is going to send everyone on a suicide mission, we may as well have some fun while we're at it."

"Fun?" Misery asked.

"Fun?!" Misery repeated, shouting this time, completely losing her cool. "You think this is fun? Fooling around over here while everyone else is making a stand? Do you really enjoy knowing everyone you care about is fighting for their lives, while you're just doing…whatever it was you were doing!?"

"Well…I…uh…" Doubt seemed to be at a loss for what to say, "at least…at least I'm not crying over every little thing that goes wrong! Boo hoo, my big brother got killed protecting me from the power of love, big deal! If I were in charge here, we'd have taken over this world in just a few battles."

"Well you know what? You're not, and you never will be. You can't fight fate, we're the bad guys in this story. We're all going to get killed by the magical girls, wouldn't you rather just get it over and done with?"

"Tch." Doubt crossed his arms, "If you want to die so badly, why'd you come over here in the first place?"

Misery looked away, "I guess…I guess I just wanted to spend my last moments with you. But you know what? I don't care anymore."

And with that, Misery left.
