Innocence
Soft light skin covering her dainty little arms,
Small round eyes with more brown than white,
Stubby little legs that wobble as she runs,
Smooth bouncy cheeks that jiggle when she laughs
She is the epitome of innocence.
You envy her pristine soul as she holds your hand and asks about the world.
She has yet so much to learn and so much to see.
But will she remain as innocent when she's free?
You want to protect her… from the evils of life,
But this is her battle, not yours…
She must endure the strife.
She will shed this innocence when she discovers
But it is her choice whether she wants to come back to this cocoon,
With knowledge and strength,
Or succumb to the temporary comforts provided by this new life.
