Chapter 0: Prologue

Long ago, when the world was in complete chaos and war, humanity wanted peace and harmony. It seemed like no matter how much they tried the world would remain in conflict that would only end in violence, death, and despair.

When all hope was lost for the world harmony, humans became used to the conflict in the world and learned to accept it.

Until one day, a worrior who was believed to been emerged from another world. With powers that could go against the laws of nature, it was without human explanation for a long time.

Human thought that this worrior wasn't human but a celestial being sent to end the chaos of the world . It wasn't until humas named these beings, they were called Espers.

The soul purpose of an Esper is to protect humans from the evil that leaked into the world. Humans believed that the conflict in the world were caused by demons and it was the job of an Esper to rid the world of them

But time passed and humans started fearing Espers. They doubted that Espers were only there to rid the world of evil. Humans became paranoid with Espers' powers and attacked them because of it.

Espers refused to fight against the humans but the more they resisted the more Espers died.

Espers grew tired of the bloodshed and and knew that there was no way to change the minds of the humans. They decide that it was time to leave. Back to the world they came from, Clardona.

"Crimson…the color of violence and madness. It only brings agony and bloodshed. How I detest it with a passion." She stood still with her light blonde hair covering her eyes which were full of rage. The man who was standing directly in front of her had a smile which showed nothing but wickedness. His hair was a deep and vivid crimson red and he wore a black robe like shirt that was open on the chest part, showing his big scar. He carried a sword with a giant blade that was almost the same size of his body.

Houses, shops, barns and schools burned to the ground as town folks hurried to evacuate as fast as possible from the burning villages. One could hear the cries of children and the screams of people who homes were vanishing before their eyes. The girl was almost brought to tears at the sight of the fire burning everything away. She wanted to run off and help as much as she could, but she knew that the battle had already started.

"What is your reason for this?" she said in an aggressive tone. She pulled her black blade katana out of it's sheath but kept it to her side. "You did this just to call me out for a fight?" her voice was full of rage but kept her body calm the best she could.

"If this was all it took to draw you out I would have done it a long time ago." She glowered with her intense clear blue eyes. "You see I got a little bored and needed something to do, he-he." His laugh sounded even more devilish then before. She tightened her grip of her katana.

"You disgust me!" she yelled but he just kept laughing. Her anger was amusing to him. She couldn't keep calm for much longer; this man made her want to rip him limb from limb without a second thought. She had never hated someone so much in her life. She took a few steps forward towards the man with her kanata, dragging it on the ground next to her. The look in his eyes was that of a psychotic man. She knew what she was dealing with. She stopped walking, her hair still covering her eyes; she raised her katana in her fight stance. "I'll make you pay for what you have done." The man continued mocking her with his laughter, but only seconds afterwards, the girl dashed towards the man striking at him but he blocked her attack with his sword and smiled in her face.

"It's going to take a whole lot more to place even a scratch on me!" he exclaimed, he looked at the girl face and realized that she was smirking at him. Moments after, the man felt a striking pain piercing his gut and when he looked down he saw the girl's hand piercing his stomach, he knew that he underestimated the wrong person. He fell to his knees in pain, dropping his sword. "H… How!?" he spoke out. She just grinned as he started to cough up blood. He touched his wound, then looked at his hands to look at the bright red blood and began to laugh.

"You say red is the color of madness… I think you are highly mistaken!" she kept her eyes locked on him, patiently waiting for his next move. "Exciting, powerful, passionate and bright, it has so many things that can come with such a brilliant color as crimson. He-he!" he chuckled. The girl's hand was covered in the man's blood. The man looked at her arm which she was holding like she was in a great deal of pain, which she was. It took him a few seconds to realize that something odd looking was about her hand.

"Lightning?" he thought to himself. "Are my eyes playing tricks on me?" There was no mistake that lightning was sprouting from her hand. "I can't believe it…" he said surprised. "Raiden" his voice was low but you could still hear him. "Only a few could ever master that technique." He looked at the arm which looked like it was burned with fire. The girl stayed silent. "I have to say you have guts. They don't just call you the black butterfly for nothing, he-he." He finally picked himself up from off his knees and got back into his fighting stance. "This means I have to take you a little more seriously now."

"You fool, never underestimate your enemy." She said.

"He-he, I guess I did forget who I was dealing with. Just by looking at you anyone would forget you're known as the most powerful being out of Clardona… who would have thought a girl as young as you could master a power like Raiden, HA! Impressed, I must say. But what really interests me…" he looked at her black blade katana that she was carrying and smiled mischievously. "The black butterfly… the katana that was carefully cafted from the rare black Obsidian stone and has the power of the four great royal families. Only one of the most nobles' members could ever wield its power He-he."

"How do you know so much about it?" she asked calmly and he laughed.

"I have been looking for it for a long time. I just so happened to travel to this land and hear your name… Black Butterfly, a girl who's never lost a battle with the help of her katana; the black blade that has the power of a god itself. Never would I have thought that I would run into it just like that. But let's stop with the small talk, after this fight that power will belong to me!" he dashed towards the girl as fast as lightning and…

Mikoto's eyes opened wide at the loud and obnoxious sound of the alarm clock sitting on top of the light stand. She looked at the time and realized that it was 5am. She didn't have to wake up so early but she set her alarm for that time just so she could wake herself up.

She pushed the snooze button and places her head back on her pillow.

"Another one of those dreams… I wonder what they mean…"

AUTHOR NOTE: Okay, this may have a rough beginning but it will get better, I promise. : )) this is basically my second attempt of writing a story. One of my biggest weaknesses is fighting scenes and grammer, but I hope I get better with it because this has a ton of action XD
