Chapter 5: Warehouse

Kamiya Souh walked into his gray and black offices at the police department in down town Shinjuku. The lights were off and the only light he had were the window, which was gray and stormy out and didn't show that much light.

His desk was messy with a lot of papers stacked upon each other, exactly how he left it. He put his jacket, which was dripping from water from the rain outside on a coat rack that was in the corner of the room. The man's clothes were damp as well but not that much that he was soaked and had to change.

He set down at his messy desk and leaned back into the chair. His head throbbed of pain. He looked at his desk, wondering if there was anything for him to do.

He pulled out a folder within the mess and started flipping through it. On the folder, it said 'Kaede Ishida' and under that, it said 'Opened' in big bold red letters.

After Kamiya was done looking through the folder, he tossed it with the rest of the junk on his desk and rubbed his tired eyes.

'This job just get harder by the day...' He thought. He glanced back over on his desk, landing his eyes on a photo in a sliver frame. It was a photo of a young woman with shoulder length black hair, chestnut-brown eyes, wearing a blue sun dress beside a big oak tree. She was smiling while rubbing her pregnant stomach. "I will find justice for you... I swear it. Kaede." he mumbled under his breath.

Suddenly, a knock came to the door and Kamiya hurried to hind the folder under the rest of the mess and yelled out, "come in!"

The door opened and a woman who looked about 30 years old walked in. She was tall with long wavy light brown-blonde hair and green eyes. She wore a professional white button up shirt and black dress pants.

Kamiya stood at his desk and bow to the women and she did the same.

"Can I help you with something?" He said.

"Yes," she said with a serious sounding voice. "I want to know how the questioning went."

"It went fine, it seem like everything went just as I predicted."

"And that may be...?"

"She was attacked and got away." He gave her a smile of success and started walking towards her.

"But still, did you bring here in to the station?"

"Nope." He leaned against his desk.

The woman looked at him with a surprised expression, "What do you mean you didn't bring her in?"

"exactly what I said."

She shut the door behind her. "Are you out of your mind? you're lucky the head chief doesn't know about this girl! Are you trying to protect her or something."

"relax, okay." Kamiya folded his arms and crossed his legs. He smirk at her and said, "I know that the girl has nothing to do with the real murderer. You see, she was just walking home when the main suspect tried to attack her. That's when someone came and saved her."

"And she told you all of this?"

"No but it was obvious. The girl couldn't possibly got away on here own. Who ever this mystery person is, she trying to protect."

"So should we start looking for this mystery person?"

"No." Kamiya walked back over to his chair and sat in it and leaned back. He kicked his feet on his desk and said, "This 'mystery person' did nothing wrong. this person didn't kill the murderer for a reason."

The woman sighed, "your logic gives me a head ache." she headed for the door but before she could exit, she said, "Be careful...What your doing is reckless."

"Trust me, I know what I'm doing."

The sound of the falling rain came down rhythmically. The sound That it made while hitting the windows was repeatedly echoing through the quiet hallways of Shinjuku High.

Since it was raining so hard out now, Mikoto and Koga couldn't stay on the roof, they had to take their conversation else where.

The hallways seem like the only other place they could talk, but it was easier to get caught there. If they would get caught skipping class that would be a 2 week detention.

Mikoto still had Koga by the collar, pulling him to where ever she wanted. She pulled him so hard he had no other choice but to follow. He could not pull away from her tight grip. They went to the 3rd floor where no classes usually take place. She pulled and pushed his back against the hard stone wall and said, "Now that were completely alone, tell me who you are." Mikoto demand, looking at the boy straight in the eye.

You could tell that the boy back was hurting from the way she slammed him. She let him go completely. She completely forgot about her strength when she is angry.

Mikoto stared at him, waiting for the boy to answer her.

"Okay...but to more precise, what do you want to know about me?" He said rubbing his shoulder that was in pain.

"Why are you at this school? How did you know I went to this school?" She demanded.

"I didn't know..."

"Bullshit!" she gripped him up one more time and you could see the sudden fear that was in the pretty boy face.

"Okay, okay! Just don't murder me..."

she let the boy go the second time and he straighten his shirt and tie then clear throat. "Please... I'm having a terrible day and if you knew what is good for you, you'll stop playing around with me."

Koga folded his arms and leaned against the wall and said, "Well, I suppose you want to get answer about the other night. To make things more clearly, I was just passing by and i saw that you were being attacked and I'd saved you. The end."

"Oh yeah? Then if that was all you were doing, what the hell was you doing with a katana, Huh?"

Koga hesitated to answer. With no motion, Mikoto kept her eye on the boy. "Wow, look at the time, we should really go back to class..." He tried his best to avoid the question badly.

Mikoto knew all too well that she was pressuring the poor guy. "I just want to know why are you here."

"For school, of course." Koga said.

"Don't give me that crap."

"Then what else do you want me to say? That I'm spying on you or something?"

"So you're telling me it's normal, after everything that happen last night, you're just so happen to show up at my school as the 'new kid', and you want me to believe that it's a common coincidence?" Mikoto glowered at the boy, "I'm not as dumb as you think, Katsuragi."

"I've never said that you were." He said with that same uneasiness look in his face.

That's when all of a sudden, a loud voice yelled from down the hall, "Hey you kids!" The voice got both Mikoto and Koga attention and they notice that it was one of the staff of the school. "Get to class before i write both of you up!"

Mikoto rolled her eyes and said, "Don't worry, we we're just heading there." Both Mikoto and Koga started walking down the hallway, but before they could get anywhere, Mikoto grabs Koga by the arm, stopping him in is place and said, "If you're not going to tell me who you are, I'll find out myself."

She started walking up headed of him and he stayed in the place he stopped in. He watch Mikoto back walk down the hallway and sighed. "It looks like I have to be more careful for now on..."

"What was that all about!" Hikari yelled at the irritated Mikoto.

"I said mind own damn business!" Mikoto yelled back.

"Mikoto, you are my business! Why would you dragged the new kid out the classroom like that? He didn't do anything to you!"

"Like I said, mind. Your. Damn. Business!"

"Ugh! I swear... You're... Ugh!" Hikari couldn't even find the words she wanted to say.

Midori walked behind the arguing friends, trying to avoid being dragged into the fight between the two.

"Guys, stop it!" Midori said finally stepping in with her high voice. Both of them stopped arguing but exchanged two dirty looks at each other. "Now, how about a quiet but positive walk home, huh?" Both Mikoto and Hikari rolled their eyes.

At the same time, both said, "fine..." And continued to walk.

Mikoto took her attention else where. All 3 of them were walking down the street, a block from school. They were head into down town Shinjuku, where at this hour, all the high and middle school students go to spend their time at. The block they were on was where the park was, a big wooded area with tons of trees. On the other side of the block, a crossed the street, was where old shops, delis, and old abandon buildings were.

Mikoto was watching the people walk pass on the other side of the street, not thinking much of it. But suddenly, she seen a familiar face within the crowd of people.

'Katsuragi...?' Mikoto thought. It was indeed Koga walking down the block. 'This is a perfect moment to get the answers that I want, but..." Mikoto kept her eyes on the boy and notice that he was talking to someone beside him. A girl who had the Shinjuku middle school uniform, that was a sailor outfit with a sky blue mini skirt and white top with a blue collar, matching the mini skirt. Topping it off with red tie in the front.

Since Mikoto was so far away from them, she couldn't make out what she looked like exactly but she did see that the girl had two low long ponytails that was orange chestnut color.

Mikoto kept her eyes locked on the two as they kept walking down the street. Until Koga and the girl next to him, came to a narrow alleyway in between a meat shop and an old abandon wear house. Koga looked both ways but then dashed into the alleyway, along with the girl.

Mikoto was confused. 'Was that his girlfriend or something?' She asked herself. 'No, that girl looked like she could have been in the 7th grade. Hmm... Something's not right.'

"Hey, Mikoto! Did you hear?" Hikari said, getting Mikoto attention.

"Huh?"

Hikari sighed, "Me and Midori want to go to the ramen shop, you're in?"

"Ah... Well," Mikoto looked back a crossed the street to see if there was any signs of Koga and the girl. "Actually, I can't. My granddad wanted me to go straight home today. I'm sorry." Hikari and Midori fell for Mikoto lie and nod their heads.

"Well, your going to miss out on a lot, you sure?" Midori asked, while giving Mikoto a bright smile.

"Yeah, I promise next time." Mikoto returned the smile.

"Okay then." Both the girls wave bye to Mikoto as she stood in her place while the two girl kept walking down the street.

When Midori and Hikari was out of sight, Mikoto took a deep breath. "Man, I don't know what the hell I'm getting myself into."

She wait for a second then dashed a crossed the street to the alleyway. When she got there, she saw that the alley came to a dead end. There were two big garbage cans and a fire escape latter above it. Mikoto took a good look around, confused. Wondering on where Koga and that girl could have gone if it was a dead end. She looked up and saw that it was a open window where the fire escape lead to, what looked like it was high up on the 3rd or 4th floor.

"Bingo." Mikoto muttered to herself. She looked at her hand and realized that she had her book bag, which was just returned back to her. "Maybe I should leave this behind." She took her book bag and put her it in between the two dumpsters, covering it with a old newspaper that she find on the ground.

She climbed on top of the dumpster and stood up, reaching for the latter above it. When she got a hold of it, she pulled herself up until her foot got a hold of the bottom bar of the rusty metal latter.

Climbing the latter was a easy task. She kept her head up, trying her hardest not to look down. It took her about 2 minutes to get to the window. Before she went through the window, she looked to see if anyone was there. There wasn't a soul in sight. Mikoto climbed her small body into the narrow window, landing on her hands. She stood up and looked out the window, she realized that she probably climbed 30ft high.

She turned her back to the window and realized that it was extremely dark in the wear house. She could only see a little bit of light coming from the other end of the room, but it wasn't bright enough for her to see everything. She pulled out her phone, which was in the pocket of her black school blazer, and turned her brightness up high. Now she had enough light to see.

She started walking around the dark room, the only sound she could hear was her own foot steps and dripping water. She flashed her phone light on everything that caught her eye, old boxes, tables and chairs were stacked up against each other. After a few moments of examine the objects, she heard a loud flapping noise coming from behind her. She hurried to flash her light on it and realized that it was just a bird that got in from one of the open windows. Mikoto let out a deep breath in relief. That's when she heard another sound, like metal banging against each other, but coming deep within the room.

She walked slowly toward the noise, with her phone in front of her. When she got to the other side of the room, she saw a big hole in the floor that lead to the next floor below. She took a closer look at the hole and heard voices coming from it. She put her face closer to it and listen closely. The voices where faint, she could barely hear who it was.

Suddenly, Mikoto heard a horrid screeching sound that sound like some dying animal. When she turned her body around and flashed her light on where she felt it coming from, she could not believe what her eyes had landed on. It was girl with faded brown hair and devilish yellow eyes, like the man from the day before. Fangs that looked as sharp as knifes grew from out of the girl mouth and nails that resemble a animal grew from out of her fingers. Her clothes were tore and raggedy, and her skin was dirty and muddy, like she was rolling around in the dirt.

Mikoto stared stunned at the feral girl as she look at Mikoto, making that same screeching sound. Mikoto wanted to run but it was like she couldn't move her body to do so. She was completely horrified by the beastly looking girl.

The feral monster started walking, slowly towards the frighten girl. Mikoto waver from the inside and dropped her phone, her only light she had, down the hole in the floor. Mikoto knew she was done for now.

But when Mikoto thought all hope was lost, she heard a loud but familiar voice call out, "who's there?!"

'K-Katsuragi...' Mikoto thought, unable to make her words out. That's when the monster started running towards the horrified girl, Mikoto screamed from the top of her lungs, "HEEEEELP!" And Before the monster could make it's way to Mikoto, something burst through the floor below. All this dust and dirt filled the air and it made it hard for Mikoto see nor breath. But when it was all gone, the handsome boy stood in front of her, blocking the monster from her.

Koga had his school uniform on still, holding a sliver katana in his hand in front of him. Mikoto stared at the boy with a blank expression, stunned about what she was seeing. But she knew all too well that it was actually happening. "Are you alright?" Koga said to the astonished girl. She nodded her head 'okay'. The boy smiled at the monster but was giving it a intrepid glare at the same time. "Good, but know I need you to run away from here." The monster screech became louder and scarier.

Mikoto felt her own heart beating in her chest extremely loud. "Where should I run?"

"Anywhere, just not here." Koga said, his back still turned to the her. Mikoto nodded her head then looked around to see where she could go. It was still so dark she couldn't find no where. That's when all of a sudden, she felt something touch her shoulder. She looked up and realized it was the same girl Koga walked in with. She grabbed Mikoto by the hand and pulled her on the other side of the room, away from the monster and Koga.

Koga looked at the monster intrepidly as the monster looked at him with those same devilish eyes.

"We'll ain't you a pretty one?" Koga said playfully and sarcastically. Koga dashed at the horrifying looking girl and threw his sword at the girl. With only that blow sent the girl flying across the room.

Mikoto and the orange hair girl watch from a far. Mikoto was amazed with the boy power. "Wow..." Was the only thing that could come out of her mouth.

The horrifying girl quickly got up on her feet, while her back was hunched over, she let out the loudest screeching noise which made Mikoto cover her ears in pain. The noise didn't effect Koga or the orange hair girl one bit.

Koga dash at the girl and with only one hit slashed the girl, sending blood flying. The girl dropped to her knees and landed her face on the floor.

Mikoto, who was still watching, was stocked at the bloody gore. She still couldn't believe the nice and gentle sprite of could do something so inhumane. Koga put his sword back into the sheath that was at his side, then turned to face the hiding girls.

The orange hair walked over the the boy and smiled. "Way to go, bro!" She said.

'Bro?' Mikoto repeated on her head, 'that explain a lot.' Mikoto came from behind the big box that both her and the other girl was and looked at Koga up and down. She noticed that he didn't show no type of remorse for what he had done. Even though there was something wrong with the girl, she was still human, right?

Mikoto eyes landed on the lifeless girl, a huge bloody puddle surround the girl like a mini lake. It was almost revolting to look. She just couldn't help stare motionless with fear running down her spine.

"Mikoto?" Koga called out to her. His voice sent the most tenses chill through her body. She looked at the boy with eyes of obvious distress. Koga knew better not to ask if she was okay. He slowly walked towards her and tried to grab her hand, but she immediately pulled her hand back in fear. she was afraid he might hurt her too.

"Maybe I should leave..." Mikoto said. She started walking the other direction.

Koga grabbed her by the hand, "No... Don't go..." That's when Mikoto notice something coming from where the bleeding was. The beastly girl body started shaking out of control, as though she was having a stroke.

"Oh my god what's happening to her!?" Mikoto panicky said. Koga look with no words. After a few more seconds of shaking, the girl stopped and let out a loud groan. The girl with the chestnut color hair flash her cell on the girl and they all saw a big gas like shadow come the girls body, in shape of a face with fangs. After a couple of more seconds, the shadow disappeared into thin air. "W-what was that...?"

Koga smirked and said, "That means that we won."

"Huh?" Mikoto confusedly said. Koga laughed and walked over to the bleeding girl. He picked her up by the arm and put it around his shoulders. "What are you doing now?" Mikoto asked again.

"Taking her to the hospital."

"Wait! But isn't she dangerous? You stabbed her now what want to take her to the hospital? What is going..." Before Mikoto could finish her many questions, she felt a quick and painful pinch on her shoulder that made her lose the strength from legs, making her fall to the floor. When she tried to move the rest if her body, she realized her whole body went numb. "What...is this?"

"Sigh... You ask to many question." The girl with the chestnut orange hair said. Now she couldn't even keep her eyes open. She shut them completely and fell into the deepest sleep.
