A LETTER

Dear Prince Charming,

I wonder how many girls have given up their search for you. They're probably more than my fingers of both hands can count. If you ask me, I think it goes the same for your gender. A lot of you have given up trying to be Prince Charming. Some of you have expressed your remorse hatred on how Disney made us girls look for the 'Prince Charming.'

To be fair, I'm no Cinderella either. I'm not a princess, probably not the fairest of them all. I'm not a damsel in distress either. I can be lazy, as in real lazy. I'm a procrastinator too. My cooking isn't the best but good enough to be edible, at least I think. I don't always wear the prettiest dress neither do I have the perfect hair. Most of the times, I prefer going out with t-shirts because they're more comfortable. Sometimes I blame you that I don't care enough for my looks, because you're not yet here, because I don't have someone like you to want to impress. But that's just me.

I'm writing this not just because I want it to reach you, because I honestly don't think it will, or maybe it will, I don't know. I want to reach the readers, the public who are interested in this topic of 'searching or finding the one.'

I'm writing this from a girl's perspective. Prince Charming doesn't necessarily go with a cape and a dashing white horse, though it wouldn't hurt if he does. Perhaps like me, you're thinking that you're not good enough to be him. I understand what you're going through. I too think I'm not good enough for you. But that's exactly where the missing piece fit.

We're humans. We're meant to be imperfect. But that doesn't mean we should give up trying to be. Personally, I'd like to see you trying to be a prince for me, simply because I never give up trying to be the perfect princess for you.

I don't have a crown. I don't have a pair of glass slippers. What I have is will power, and my dreams. And if you ask me, I am sure that one day I'll really see you because on that day, God sees me formed enough to deserve you and vice versa.

One of my favorite characters in the Bible is Queen Esther. She had to go through preparation to be chosen by the King. It's just like how I'm going through a whirlpool of challenges just to be your Ms. Right, if you're actually using that name for me.

And do you remember Isaac and Rebecca? That was one of the most romantic stories of all time for me! Isaac was meditating when he just had to look up at the same time Rebecca did, and if I were to narrate what happened next, I imagine it goes along like, "And then their eyes met and sparks were flashing all over the place and…" Okay, I'll stop now. I think I have a good chance of scaring you, aren't I?

The world is big, big enough that I could go on forever searching. But even if I go forever searching, if I don't go along the plans of our Lord, then I'll probably end up in distress and frustration for finding lots and lots of frogs and toads instead of you.

So let's be patient, shall we? And let's try harder. Don't give up trying to be a better person, someone kinder, someone more honest, someone more generous, someone with a heart that's willing to change to do the good work God prepared for you.

Don't. Please don't give up, because no matter how challenging the task is, we can always ask God for help. I'm not saying it's going to be an easy journey for us to find each other, but I can say, as early as now, that it's going to be worth it.

God bless and be strong!

Sincerely,

Your destiny

A/N: I accept reviews and constructive criticisms but no flames please. I was inspired to write something like this because I've read a lot of sad ending stories about love. Too dramatic, really. Well, what can I say? I'm an optimist. I wrote it from the perspective of a real girl, a real person living in the real world. I just want this fiction to be an encouragement for you guys. Seriously, aren't dreams meant to come true? They are, if you just go to the right God.

God bless and have a great day!
