1
I am not the sky.
Everyone points look up look up
They say
Something dangerous
Like a storm or the seas or a giant
Calling bird come to fight
Us all.
But it's just the sky and a little
Sinking
Plane
2
Nobody bothered to explain to me
The innocence of ignorance
Or the color of roses
And dresses in winter
And the smell of cinnamon and
Purple
And cyanide.
I guess they think I know.
3
The buildings are gray
Maybe it's cold inside them
The sound of clicking and signing and scrolling
And so many different kinds of
Longing.
4
Today is a special day.
Because I said so.
5
I am not the sky
I just like to go up there and be.
I keep telling you this
But you just say
Go up there and be normal then.
6
Teaching plants
To grow fangs
Is harder than I originally planned.
7
I wake up feeling more
Like me
Than I did when I fell asleep.
I should stop dreaming in
Sepia
And colored pictures
Of nothing at all.
8
I think I'll take a walk
Just to find the wall between
The living room and the dead
Room.
If I'm lucky the door will be closed.
9
A hundred years ago
Somebody probably died on this
Very spot
If no one else misses him
I will.
10
The sky is something restless and
Endless
But I like to fall into it and breathe
It
And maybe go out to dinner after
With my debit card and
My wings in my pocket
Because I am not the sky.
