The Dreamer
I used to dream of fairy tales,
Of mermaids and unicorns,
Of dragons and princesses,
Of grinning cats and wonderlands.
I used to dream of being one of everything,
Like a doctor or a firefighter,
Like an astronaut or an explorer,
Like a treasure hunter or a scientist.
I used to dream of something more,
Of heaven and angels,
Of miracles and subtle magicks,
And other quite impossible things.
So of course I dreamed of you, my dear,
For I dreamed of knights in shining armor,
Of playing house as a mother or wife,
And of true love and its kiss.
Of course I dreamed of you, my love.
I used to dream of us.
And then I grew up.
And so it goes.
