Tulips

Oh, there you are, fast asleep and smiling.

Your hair is long and silky, tied nicely.

And your lover is away and flirting;

While I stand here watching you so sadly.

Should I say the thoughts I hold in my mind,

Or quiet my tongue on your tragic love life?

Silly your adoration for the unkind,

That man who cheats on his lovely sweet wife.

In a moment I know you will wake up;

Naïve and chipper like any other day.

How I wish to shower you in tulips,

As they're the symbol of true love to stay.

Alas, I'll keep the secret in me caged,

For your heart I just can't break even if raged.
