Tyler Smith was an ordinary seventeen year old boy on the outside. Anyone from school would think that he led a normal life…but they were wrong. All of his life Tyler had to deal with a crazy woman, and that woman was his very own mother. She had it in her mind that he was meant to be gay and nothing was going to stop her until he finally realized it for himself. She was so obsessed with it that her husband left, unable to deal with a woman that had such weird fantasies for her own son.

Tyler had shut himself up in his room ever since his mother told him that she was sending him out on yet another date with some random boy that she knew was gay. Tyler knew that it was coming close to the time that the boy was going to be showing up and he was dreading it. He hated having to tell all of these guys that his mother was crazy and that he wasn't actually gay.

The doorbell went off and Tyler groaned as he knew what was coming next. "Tyler, my beloved son, your date will be here any minute now~" He heard his mother bellow from the bottom of the stairs in a sickly, cheery tone.

"Mom I already told you that I'm not doing this anymore! Get it through your thick skull that I'm not gay!" Tyler shouted back, not wanting to move from his bed since he was comfortable and enjoying the show that he was watching on the television.

"Oh honey, the closet is no place to hide!" His mother called back to him with a slight giggle. She found his denial to be quite adorable at times.

"I'm not in the closet!" Tyler shouted back angrily, not understanding why his mother wanted him to be gay so badly. It was then though that the doorbell went off which meant that the boy his mother was trying to set him up with had arrived. Tyler let out a sigh and rolled over in his bed.

"Honey, come down here and answer the door! Your date is here!" His mother called out from the bottom of the stairs, hoping that her son wouldn't put up much of a fight.

"No! I'm not going on another date that you've set up!" Tyler yelled back. Why didn't his mother understand? Not in all of the seventeen years of his life had he even thought of being with another guy!

It wasn't much longer until his mother barged into his bedroom, a small, blonde boy following behind her as she did so. "Sweetie, this is Lukas. He's going to be your date for the night! Isn't he just the cutest thing you've ever seen?"

"Uhh…no. Guys aren't cute for me." Tyler stated bluntly, not caring if he hurt the boy's feelings at all.

"Tyler! Don't be so rude!" His mother then looked towards Lukas. "I'm so sorry, honey, it's just Tyler's time of the month." She giggled along with Lukas.

"I don't have a time of the month!" Tyler let out a frustrated sigh as he sat up in his bed and hung his legs off the edge. He then pushed himself off of his bed and stood up, walking over to Lukas and grabbing his arm before dragging him out of the room, down the stairs, and out of the house. He stopped on the front porch after closing the door and looked towards Lukas. "Where do you want to go? I don't want to be out too long because I have a straight life to get back to." He stated bluntly.

Lukas smiled brightly at Tyler. "Well I was thinking that we could go to a movie and then go to dinner and then we could-!" Lukas was interrupted mid-sentence by Tyler.

"How about we just grab something to eat, hm?" Tyler suggested as it would be quick and easy and it was also what he did on most of the dates that his mother sent him on.

"But…I want to get to know you…" Luke pouted a bit, not wanting to do just one thing with Tyler. He wanted to spend the whole night with him.

"Well I don't want to get to know you. I'm not gay, okay? So we won't be having a second date. My mom likes to think that I am and sets me up with guys all the time but I'm completely straight." Tyler explained the situation briefly.

"O-oh…okay…Just dinner then I guess…" Lukas frowned a bit as his hopes were crushed right there. Of course he had been set up on a date with a guy that was straight. Just his luck.

"Alright, glad we're on the same page now." Tyler said as he started to walk in the direction of the restaurant that he usually took these dates to. Everyone that worked there probably thought that he was a gay player of sorts since he brought so many guys there but he didn't really care.

Lukas walked up behind Tyler and smiled at him. "What restaurant are we going to?" He asked, curious as to where Tyler was taking him and if it was a nice place or not.

Tyler sighed as Lukas decided to try and make conversation. "A restaurant." He simply replied.

Lukas was saddened by the extremely vague answer that he had gotten from Tyler but he wasn't going to let that stop him. "Which restaurant is it?" He asked, trying to stay cheerful.

"A restaurant that has food that we can eat." Tyler stated.

"Okay…" Lukas trailed off for a moment, wondering if he should pry anymore. He thought it over and since this was the only date that he was going to have with Tyler he didn't need to worry about messing it up and not getting a second date because of it so he spoke up again. "What's the name?"

Tyler let out a frustrated sigh of sorts before he answered Lukas. "Copper Penny."

Lukas was happy that Tyler had actually given him a real answer, despite the fact that Tyler didn't seem happy about the questioning at all. "I haven't been there before, is the food good?" He asked with a smile.

"What do you think?" Tyler rolled his eyes. Why was that even a question? If the food wasn't good why would he be going there to eat?

"Well…Since you don't want to be on this date with me you might be bringing me to a place with really really bad food." Lukas explained his reasoning.

"I wouldn't go to a place with bad food because I still have to eat it, genius." Tyler stated, as if it was obvious.

"But maybe you weren't going to eat or you were only going to have a lit-!" Lukas was cut off once again by Tyler.

"Do you ever shut up? I mean, seriously. You gotta understand that I don't want to be here so having you talking so much is just pissing me off." Tyler stopped and looked towards Lukas as he spoke.

"Not really? I mean, I like talking." Lukas smiled sweetly at Tyler.

Tyler's eye twitched slightly. So this Lukas guy was going to just keep talking the entire time? Tyler really didn't think he was going to be able to deal with it. He might even strangle the guy before the food got to the table! Yeah, this was for Lukas' safety. "I'm going home because if I stick around then you're going to lose your life. I'm leaving for your own safety." Tyler began walking towards his house now. "Bye." He muttered as he passed Lukas.

Lukas blinked a couple times and stood there a moment before chasing after Tyler. "W-wait!" He ran up behind Tyler. "I can try to stop talking as much!"

"Uh huh? I doubt that you're capable of doing something like that." Tyler stated as he continued to walk home.

"But I really want to go on a date with you…" Lukas frowned, wanting to at least have a chance with Tyler.

"Why? It won't be going anywhere. I'm straight, remember?" Tyler stated as he continued to walk.

"But..! You're so good looking..!" Lukas didn't expect a good response from what he said but it had just kind of come out without much thought.

"And you're annoying! Leave me alone!" Tyler quickened his pace, hoping that Lukas would give up.

"Fine! Big meanie head!" Lukas stopped pursuing Tyler and turned in the direction of his own home before he took off.

Tyler let out a sigh of relief when Lukas finally gave up and went home. He was glad to have that over with though knew his mother was going to give him an earful.

After a few minutes Tyler was walking through the front door to his house and kicked off his shoes. His mother was sitting on the couch in the living room as she watched some cheesy soap opera, most likely waiting up for him. She turned to look as she heard the door open and frowned when she saw that Tyler was alone. "Sweetie! What happened to the date? Is everything alright? Where's Lukas?"

"Mom if I went on that date with Lukas I would have ended up strangling him. He was so goddamn annoying." Tyler stated as he leaned against the doorway to the living room.

"Don't be so rude, Tyler! Lukas was such a sweet boy!" His mother was definitely not impressed with him. "You better call him up and apologize for what you did!"

"Rude? I'm just telling the truth. And there is no way in hell that I'm going to be calling up that guy to apologize for anything at all." Tyler stated bluntly.

"My! How did you ever get to be so rude? You used to be such a kind boy and now look at how you're acting!" His mother looked truly saddened but at the moment Tyler really couldn't care less.

"Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you keep setting me up on dates with random guys when I'm not even gay! I'm straight, mom! I like girls! I will never ever like a guy! Alright? Got that? So stop messing with my life!" Tyler shouted before he stormed up the stairs and into his bedroom, slamming the door behind himself. He really didn't want to deal with her at the moment as he really needed to calm down before he said or did something that he would regret.

Tyler made his way over to his bed and sat down, sighing as he ran his fingers through his hair, wondering how his mother ever got to be the way that she is.
