*Ehh...something I wrote for a competition a while ago, and I won, so I said, "Hey why not? Let's share it to everybody."
"The Magic of A Moment"
I was surprised at first. I didn't know what to think as he held my hand and led me down the hallway. He had asked me earlier to meet him where we had first met. In our old school hallway where we had ran into each other, which had caused all of our things to fall to the ground. I looked at him as he led me to my old school locker, which I had used years before. We stopped in front of it and he turned towards me to smile widely. He looked nervous, yet ecstatic as he let go of my hand to grab something from his pocket. I looked at him with wide eyes wondering what was about to happen. He pulled out a small, black box. The kind of box that held rings. The ones that were meant for… He cut into my thoughts. He looked straight at me as he knelt down on one knee. His eyes glowed and he smiled widely and surely.
"I've known ever since we ran into each other right in this hallway. It was freshmen year and you had been looking backwards to say "hi" to one of your friends… who was it?"
"Christy." I said automatically. He laughed and nodded.
"Yes. That's who it was. Christy. Anyways, you ran straight into a band geek who was thinking about the recent math test that he had taken. I believe you toppled right onto him, while his and your books went flying into the air." He smiled at the memory and I laughed.
"You were thinking about a math test? How do you even remember that tiny detail? Are you making that up?" I said with mock accusation. He grinned.
"I remember that "tiny detail" because it was the day I met you. You were taller than me, and very popular… if I recall." He smirked. I opened my mouth to respond but he put a finger on my lips.
"I knew then and there that I loved you. How your eyes lit up when you smiled. How you loved life and laughed at hate. How you apologized probably a million times to me after that "incident", and followed me around that day asking if I was all right. I didn't know what to think at first when you said you liked my shirt. I had blushed, not because you said you liked it, but because you meant it. You were so pure and giving. It's as if you were my own personal angel." He paused when he saw me starting to cry. He took it as a good thing and went on with his heart-whelming story.
"Then, somehow, we had started hanging out. Every day after school to practice for the play you were in, and during the weekends we would watch old movies and laugh at them, or go to the park and talk about the future. It was as if you had sucked me into one of those sappy love stories where everything's perfect. It was unreal, but incredibly it was. Suddenly, we were graduating and we were thinking about college and dreams. You wanted to be a physicist and I wanted to be a composer. We sat on your porch that night and talked and talked about everything, until finally the morning sun came up to tell us to shut up and go to bed."
I laughed between my tears, which caused him to take my hand.
"Years have passed since those memories, and I only want more. I want to have millions of memories, laughs, and smiles with you. I know there will be those times when we just want to murder each other, but either way… I'll be there for you. I'll be there during the tough times, and the happy times. So, I want to ask you something that I never thought I could ever ask to an extraordinary woman like you. It's a promise as well, and an undying oath that I'll be yours. I ask this of you, due to my love for you. I love you, and I want your hand in marriage. So, my question is… Will you marry me?"
My eyes were blurred as I whispered my answer.
"Yes. Yes. YES!" His smile took his face and he reached for me. He hugged me tightly to lift me off the ground. We twirled in the air. I felt completely happy when he set me down to take my face in his hands to kiss me ever so softly.
I smiled, and I knew that this moment would never be forgotten.
