Summary:

Hunter Black is a big time bad boy, and is always the center of news. Danielle Jones is the smart girl in the background, NEVER wanting to be in the center. Ever. But Hunter has a secret. He has somehow, out of nowhere, fallen for the smart Danielle. How? And when? With her not agreeing with him, what will he do to win her over? And will his most highly guarded secret come out into the open? Will the questions ever stop? No one will ever know.

Chapter 1

Danielle POV

Waking up to the sound of my alarm clock going off, is definitly not my ideal way to get up in the mornings. Especially not Monday mornings. Everyone hates Mondays.

"Danny! Mom made pancakes, and she said you can't have any until you're dressed." Ah. The magic words to get me up and moving on any, and all days. Pancakes. Psshh. You thought I was talking about what Mom said? You crazy. With my waaaaay over-protective brothers yelling at me to get up, I slowly removed the warm, and inviting blankets off of my body. Sigh.

"Okay! I'm up! Quit your high screeched, highly annoying yelling!" I could hear my parents and my two other older over-protective brothers, Liam and Michael laughing at Nico. I could imagine Nico's annoyed face right now.

I got up and put on some Nike purple and black checkered shorts with a black tank-top. Plus my black converse. Gotta have me some converse. And then ran down to claim my pancakes.

*At School*

"Hey, Danny, did your hear the news? Huh? Did ya?" Before my best friend Taylor could go on any longer, i answered her, and saved us all from misery. Your welcome.

"No. I didn't hear the oh-so-important news. Do share, because I am so interested in the latest gossip." She rolled her eyes at my sarcasm, but continuing on anyway.

"Hunter Black is making his move on a girl."

"Who is this highly unlucky girl?" I really do highly sympathize for the poor victim.

"We don't know. All we do know is that it's going to happen during the morning announcements. In front of everybody." Hunter Black sure did have some class to mortally embarrass a girl like that. Oh. I'm sorry. You want to know who Hunter Black is?

The end to all humanity that is still left in this world.

"Taylor, If you want to hear that announcement, you better do some major record breaking." We only had 5 minutes left to get to class, and she didn't even have her stuff. Unlike moi.

Her eyes widend as she made a mad dash to her locker and then ran to class with me right behind her.

"Why do you care so much anyway?" I asked her. She froze and wouldn't turn to look me in the eyes. She decided to ignore me, which kind of worried me. Just a little bit.

When we walked into class, I slid into my seat in the back. Snickers were thrown my way.

"Nerdalert" Someone coughed. In case you didn't know, I'm considered a nerd. Just because I'm quiet and have straight A's. The future of our generation doesn't look that promising, does it? No, I thought not.

"Quiet down class, it's time for morning announcements." Even out teacher, Ms. Hawkins, looked excited. After everyone was quiet, I coughed,

"Desperate" And let's just say I am now on every hit list for all the girls (and some guys) in my class.

"Um, hi everyone." Came Hunter's deep voice over the intercom. "So, a lot of rumors have been going around about me making a move on a girl. Well, that's partly right." All the girls were looking at each other confused. "Over the next few weeks, I'll post a peice of paper somewhere in the school, giving a clue about who this girl is. Good luck, and to the girl I like: Who said I couldn't like a girl like you. Now this is Hunter Black, signing off."

Ms. Hawkins dismissed us early after that.

*Science*

So far, my day has been absolutly is in every single one of my classess. And all the girls crowded around him. Now, normally, this wouldn't be that bad, but considering he sits in the back too, for the first time ever, I had to sit in the front. It. Was. Horrible.

Now it was science, and I was tthe second one in the classroom. The first one? Lucky me, it was Leo Gonzales. A guy that I could actually tolerate. Since we sat at tables of two, I decided to mot push my luck and sat next to Leo. He turned toward me and smiled.

"Hey, I'm Leo." He said, grinning like a mad-man. His grin was contagious.

"And I'm Danny. Yes, I am aware that it's a guys name, yes, it is short for something, and no, I will not tell you my full name. And if you call me anything but Danny, I will castrate you in your sleep. We clear?" I smiled a dangerously dazzling smile, while he just grinned wider.

"Well, I am pleased to meet you, milady"

"And you, my kind sir."

He was going to say something, but then Hunter Black walked through the door. And I swear I saw his eyes narrow at the sight me Leo and I together. Huh? Oh well, I probably imagined it. So, I shrugged my shoulders and turned bacl around to face Leo again.

"So... Are you excited to find out who the mystery girl is? Are you hoping it's you?" I snorted, and he looked at me in confusion.

"The last thing I want is to win. I sympathize greatly for whoever the poor girl is on the other end of receiving his attention." If possible, Leo grinned wider than I've ever seen anybody grin. Ever.

"You know, I like you Danny."

"Well, sadly, I like you too." I grinned back at him. Maybe my life had hope after all.
