I want to write a thousand words

and toss them to the sky

so I can dance in their descent

as they flicker in the moonlight

I want to smile a gardened smile

and laugh a tooth-chipped laugh

to feel the beating glimpse of simple hearts

caught in wires bent by thoughts

I want to hum your heart's hymn

Until your tears and scars recede

to the moonlit allies of the crevices

along your wilted spine

I want to lay my soul

in pieces along the lawn

to expose my spirit's scabs

every freckled lump

every dangling vein

then let you hold each piece

and pocket your favourite

I want to end this circled race

of chasing sunset's shadow

forever on the brink of something

always going but never coming
