A/N: Thanks for clicking on my story! Don't worry if you get confused...

Prologue (Year: 1231)

Keep breathing. Don't inhale the smoke. Stay near the ground. Try to find the stairs. This was her chant as she crawled on all fours in the direction she was pretty sure would take her to the stairs. She couldn't believe what was happening. He had started a fire! What was he thinking, playing with that lantern? And where had he gone? As soon as he had realized what he had done he had run for the stairs. Now, she was trapped belowdecks, hoping that someone would realize she was missing and look for her. She started coughing.

"Captain! You must send someone down! My baby is trapped down there!" her mother was shouting. She realized she must be near the stairs. The captain replied calmly, but she only caught the word 'mast'. As she tried to think of how the mast had anything to do with her, she ran into something solid. It was him.

"You're still here! How are we going to get—"

"I'm sorry," he apologized. "For back there and right now." His hand touched her forehead and temple and he stared deeply into her eyes. Suddenly, she felt very confused. She could hear his voice, but she couldn't comprehend what he was saying. She felt as if something was slipping away from her, but she didn't know what.

What am I doing here? She was completely alone. She stood up, ignoring the billowing smoke that had completely enveloped her. She walked up the stairs and calmly went over the mast, ignoring the fact that it was burning. She still felt confused. Where am I? What's going on? Her thoughts even felt foreign, like she was thinking in an unfamiliar language. She heard voices to her right, and she felt that they were talking about her. She wanted to go to them, but she couldn't help herself as she turned to her left and saw some flotsam floating in the waves. She jumped into the sea and grabbed hold of a larger piece, pulling herself onto it. She coughed some, expelling the last of the smoke. The cold saltwater was heaven to her burns. She turned her head and watched the ship as it was consumed by the flames.

For no apparent reason, she felt exhausted. She was still very confused. What is going on? Why can't I rememberHer thought was stopped by her mind pulling her into unconsciousness.

A/N: Sorry if it's confusing. It'll all make sense eventually, I swear! The reason I have posted a year is because I am going to be jumping around a little. Some of the characters are going to have shorter parts than the others, so I have to clarify when in there personal story it is (Also, some of the chapters are going to overlap…). Hang in there! A lot of this isn't going to make a ton of sense, seeming like there is information missing, but I will try to fill in all the gaps at some point. (You're not supposed to know who the Prologue is about, by the way… Mwahahaha!)

The other chapters are going to be longer. REVIEW PLEASE! I need to know people like it; otherwise, I'm taking it down.
