She was the girl in the baggy turtlenecks and the grandma-skirts and the crooked teeth, with her hair always up in a haphazard bun.
I was the one in the semi-baggy jeans and the high tops and the fitted, always with perfectly coiffed hair.
She was the girl who spent her Friday nights alone in her bedroom, reading and writing and sketching, always in her own world.
I was the one who spent my Friday nights out, drinking and laughing and having sex, always in the middle of the crowd.
She was the girl who spent lunch alone under the large oak tree in the middle of the field, food in one hand and book in the other.
I was the one who spent lunch on the court, going over plays and practicing shots, eating as I headed to my next class.
She was the girl I was expected to ignore, the one I was supposed to not care about.
