Glossary

Species-

*Caniel: Canine-like creatures with long, saber-toothed canines that can reach up to a foot in length. Females tend to be smaller than their male counterparts, built more for speed than confrontation. Females are also more plain in coloration than the males (usually brown, dark russet, or a mottled gray) while the males have brighter, bolder colors (red, white, or golden-brown). Caniel are nearly immortal, living upwards of two to three thousand years. Some Caniel - along with Felidaeal - have the unique ability to transform into the human-like creatures called Sifora (see below).

*Felidaeal: Immortal, cat-like creatures with hidden spikes beneath the fur along their necks. Built much like a Serval than an ordinary housecat with long legs, a lean body, and small heads, but with long tails that can reach up to five feet; the length of a Felidaeal's tail is a direct representation of their age, growing roughly half and inch a year. Their fangs are retractable like a snake's, and females are poisonous - able to stop a grown man's heart in a matter of minutes. Some Felidaeal - along with Caniel - have the unique ability to transform into human-like creatures called Sifora (see below).

*Halfling: Any being that is at least half human. These beings are mortal unless their change is completed through what is called a 'blood-bond'. Only Felidaeal, Caniel, and Sifora are able to conduct a blood-bond.

*Human: Mortal beings that have no magical properties - especially someone from the Shadow World.

*Mage (or Magic-Weaver): Humans that have the ability to weave magic and have obtained near-immortality. The sworn enemies of what they consider 'lesser beings' (i.e. Felidaeal, Caniel, Sifora, Humans, and Halflings) they seek to rule both the Dream and Shadow Worlds.

*Sifora: Immortal beings with very animalistic tenancies. They survive off of the blood of humans, or synthetic blood substitutes, which also serves as almost an aphrodisiac to females. Very few, select Felidaeal and Caniel have the ability to transform into Sifora if they have mastered the art of Dream-Weaving. Often mistaken as humans in the Shadow-World, they have a sort of exotic beauty that sets them apart: slightly luminous skin, pale hair (such as silver or white-blonde), and vibrant eyes that often reflect their mastered element. When they weave magic, their skin gives off a slightly more pronounced glow.

*Vampire: Lesser Sifora. They are more volatile than Sifora and kill humans in order to feel emotion.

*Werewolf: A direct descendant of Caniel. Unlike the Caniel species, Werewolves do not have the strength or willpower to complete a full transformation. The lifespan of this species is no more than thirty five years, due to their inability to forfeit a fight.

Terminology:

*Blood-Bond: A bond created between two beings through the sharing of blood. Usually only between a husband and wife.

*Dream World: The realm that mirrors the Shadow World. Those that Dream Weave to any extent can freely travel between the two worlds.

*Empire: The ruling kingdom made up of Mages.

*New Order: A group of Caniel, Felidaeal, Safora, Halflings and Humans that are warring against the Empire.

*Shadow World: The mortal realm that mirrors the Dream World. Mortals do not know of the Dream World.
