"Put that down. Now. Ew." She chirped in my direction, disguist written all over her face.

"But I like the colour." I stated back, twisting the tube in my hand and using the little mirror on the cosmetics counter to apply it.

"It's pink Cheryl, we only wear red or nude. Pink is for little girls in pig tails." She continued with a laugh, she likes to laugh at her own jokes even when they're not funny.

"What little girl do you know wears lipstick? Besides if I like it, I'm going to wear it." I stated back firmly, making my lips into a pout in the mirror.

Jess ran her fingers through her short dark hair dramatically, "Well if you really must-" she began.

"I must." I cut her off, before slipping the tube up to the teller and inserting my debit into the handheld machine.

"Lets go get frozen yogurt before class then." She finally conceeded, hands up in mock surrender.

I couldn't help myself and rolled my eyes. For best friends, we had very different tastes and shoe sizes, which suited me just fine because I wasn't all that big on sharing.

Lipstick Mafia

The vanilla frozen yogurt tasted like a little bit of heaven as it melted down my tongue and slid down my throat. The heat was somewhere between stagnant and oppressive in this classroom. The clock couldn't be right, were we really only five minutes into the lecture?

Flipping open my macbook, I switched on my browser and my facebook homepage opened up. The teacher, ever the paranoid one, was walking up and down the isles during her lecture. She'd slammed the last computer with an unautherized site open shut, nearly breaking the screen so as she approached I hid my browser and flipped open my notes from the night before.

A little laugh to my left drew my attention away from the class.

"I saw that." Tall dark and handsome accosted from two seats to my right.

"Well, I'm glad you have eyes but you should probably keep em front, right and center from now on cowboy." I joked, flashing him a quick smile.

He sat up and shifted seats closer to mine, "I'm Vic, what should I not call you while I'm totally paying attention to this lecture?"

I had to hold back a smile, "You can call me Samantha, but there's no guarantee that I'll answer to it."

"How do I get my hands on your real name then, Samantha?" He stated, looking at me seriously.

"You agree to be my study partner for the next assignment, unless you're stupid, then shoo." I quipped, making subtle hand gestures.

The teachers eyes were fixed on me as she approached up the isle and I turned away to focus on the lecture.

"Miss is your conversation more interesting than my class?" She crooned when she was close enough to stand above me.

"No ma'am." I answered back immediately trying to avoid trouble.

"Good, then pay attention." She nearly shouted before continuing up the isle and I let go of the breath I'd held throughout our brief conversation. Tension in my body disappearing with every step away she took.

"If I catch you being a distraction again, I'll kick you out of my lecture." She hissed as an afterthought after a few steps and I shuddered from the intensity of her glare.

I needed this class to graduate and I wouldn't let some guy derail my summer plans. No guy was worth that.

Minutes later the class began shuffling away papers and closing laptops. Torment over for now.

When I looked up there was an iphone in my face, "Put in your number."

I nearly jumped, nearly, thank god that could've been mortifying.

"Alright." I stated with smile.

Quickly I punched in my digits and named myself "That pretty girl from class" before hitting dial.

When I felt my phone buzz, I hung up and handed his phone back.

"So do you charm all the girls this way?" I joked coyly.

"Only the pretty ones from class." He answered back with a half smile, before slipping his phone into his pocket.

"See ya pretty girl." He joked with a half wave before he stepped out of the isle and up the stairs.

My heart was racing with possibilities and before I could stop myself, I slipped my phone out of my pocket.

Victor McCallister, would I ever enjoy getting to know you.
