And with 65 views we have a winner for this weeks Sunday Update! :D see you all next week! or will I?

Arthur's class schedule was from Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 2 am, his classes were mainly science with an elective chosen for him by his tutor which was flower arranging.

And unsurprisingly enough, Arthur made his first friend in F. A. A man named Abe.

He'd simply taken the seat next to Arthur and slumped in his seat, he gave the boy a bored look.

"So you like flowers or something?"

Arthur frowned, "my tutor suggested it to me."

"Who even has tutors anymore?" Abe laughed, "the name's Abe, and you?"

"Arthur, nice to meet you."

"So polite, we should hang out you know, I like having friends who are polite."

Arthur nodded, not at all bothered by the compliment, he took out his notebook and pencil only to have the pencil snatched from him, "nice pencil." Abe says twirling it around between his fingers.

"Yes, can I have it back?"

"Oh, sure." Abe says, but instead of giving back the pencil he stole, he simply offered him one from his bag.

Arthur took it with a frown, "any chance I'm getting mine back soon?"

Abe shook his head, "I'm afraid not, it's a token, I'm going to keep it for good luck."

"But I'm not lucky-"

"First meetings are usually lucky, so I'm keeping it, no more questions asked."

Arthur didn't really believe in luck, but he wasn't really in the mood to discuss it with a true believer so he let it go, and thankfully, class started.

At lunch Arthur bumped into Abe who'd been talking with a blonde girl, she had a tan and green streaks in her hair, she turned those lime green eyes on Arthur and Abe followed her gaze, he smiled and they were introduced.

"Nice to meet you, my name's Topaz."

Arthur shook her hand, it was delicate, manicured and she had a pretty smile.

"My name is Arthur, nice to meet you as well."

Topaz giggled, "like the king?"

Arthur shook his head, "no, not until I meet someone named Merlin or Lancelot."

Topaz laughed, "I see, so where were you planning to have lunch?"

Arthur shrugged, "well, I have the next class in two hours so I was going to stop by a shop near my house for lunch."

His brothers would be meeting him there as well.

Abe looked interested, his green eyes, just a shade lighter than Arthur's but darker than Topaz's, lit up. He combed his fingers through his unruly black hair and grinned showing off those charming dimples, it reminded Arthur of Wendell. Well who cared, if they met maybe they'd get along?

"Would you both like to accompany me?" Arthur offered.

Topaz jumped at the chance, Abe said he'd go just to chaperone them both, Arthur wasn't sure why he thought that necessary, Topaz really wasn't his type.

And so when they'd walked into the diner and Arthur caught sight of Niall and Wendell he waved, Abe and Topaz in tow they all sat down and ordered.

"Topaz, Abe, these are my little brothers, Wendell and Niall."

Niall sunk into his seat obviously uncomfortable, Wendell eyed them suspiciously, but when he caught Abe leering at the same waitress he was always leering at he relaxed, perhaps it was some mutual kinship he felt, being a womanizer himself?

Of course he eventually started ogling Topaz who was frowning at Niall in curiosity.

"Do you…do you paint by any chance?" she asks.

Niall glares at her, and it was such a sweet thing, despite the thick black eye-liner and hair-style designed to make him look menacing, the obvious interest in his gaze was making them shimmer.

"What do you care?"

Oh, she got an answer out of him.

"I'm an art major and I was just wondering…I can tell when people paint."

Niall frowned, "sounds stupid."

"Niall." Arthur says in a warning tone.

"So you paint?" Wendell asks smiling in that way that was sure to make Topaz swoon.

She smiled back, surprised, "yes, you know I just noticed something, but you guys don't look that much alike."

Arthur shrugged, "different fathers."

Topaz nodded, "I see, but there's something about you three that is exactly alike, it's so cute."

Abe had been sitting quietly all this time, but seemed unable to resist, he turned to Wendell and said, "give me your pencil."

Wendell glanced at Arthur who simply nodded, "lucky first meeting token or something, he has mine too."

Wendell gave Abe his pencil but Niall absolutely refused him.

"You know," Topaz says, "a pencil to an artist isn't something easily replaced."

Abe gave up after that, resigning to Topaz's voice of reason.

All in all, lunch was interesting, new, his brothers weren't as tense as when it had begun and Abe and Wendell had even made plans for a double date at the movies the following weekend.

Topaz and Niall had been subtly discussing the history of art under short, unexplained phrases.

Arthur ate his lunch in pure contentment, happy that his first day had gone so well.

At least until he returned home to Neil cooking dinner, it smelled divine and it seemed they were the only ones home, Wendell had soccer practice until five and Niall was going to study at a friend's house. Isabella was going to be working until two in the morning as usual so it was just the two of them in the house.

Arthur left his things in his room and went to the bathroom. There he washed his face and took a deep breath. It was now or never, Neil had not proved himself someone worthy of his mother but he hadn't started out horribly either. So Arthur had to make peace, he wasn't going to start this relationship out with some pissy fight, he wasn't sixteen anymore, he didn't have the luxury of acting like an angry teenager. No offense to Niall though, since angry was kind of his motif currently.

He wondered what he would say when he entered the kitchen, but he figured he'd just wing it, try and be kind and patient.

Neil was putting the caps on a neatly arranged set of plastic containers, whatever it was he'd cooked he was putting away for later…was it for Niall and Wendell? For Arthur?

He paused when he caught sight of Arthur; his expression was serious and unchanging.

He didn't look bothered by Arthur's sudden intrusion, he didn't look surprised either.

Arthur cleared his throat, "I-usually…I cook dinner for…uhm…I usually make dinner for everyone…"

What was that?! No, no this was all wrong; could he please reload and try again? No no no- he was acting like Neil had intruded on his turf, like he was doing something unnecessary.

Neil shrugged, "Bella asked me to."

Okay, he didn't seem bothered. But why would his mom ask Neil to cook, she knew Arthur was the one who did that.

"Why?" Arthur asks, he stuffs his hands in his pockets when he couldn't figure out what to do with them.

He just needed Neil to like him, just a little; it would make things at home so much easier if they could get along.

Arthur was resolved to like Neil despite the obvious impersonal way he was behaving. He didn't seem interested in knowing Arthur better at all.

"Said you needed a break." Neil says.

"But I don't-"

"Her specific words were 'Arthur is always taking such good care of everyone, and now he's starting college and I want him to have more freedom, so it would be nice if you could make dinner for him and the boys,' so as you can see, now you don't have to make dinner."

Arthur frowned, "I don't mind…" he sighed, "it's fine."

With a man in the house nobody really needed Arthur to make dinner anymore, now he had more free time for…stuff, what stuff exactly kept Arthur in thought as he walked away.

Neil must have read something in his gaze; he followed Arthur back into the hallway, looking bothered, "if you want, tomorrow, you can make dinner…we can…" his face colored just enough to make it look like he was embarrassed, "I'll do Mondays and Wednesdays…"

"And Sundays," Arthur says, suddenly feeling better. Neil nodded, and he looked unsure, his visage usually brimming with confidence was dimmed, he looked at Arthur and heaved a big sigh.

"Yeah, yeah sounds good."

Arthur held back a smile; perhaps having Neil around wouldn't be such a bad thing.

When dinner came around, Niall had taken his dinner inside his room, Wendell ate in front of the television while texting, Arthur had eaten some before having to return to studying, while ignoring Abe's constant irritating texting since he was always getting his and Wendell's numbers confused. After getting 'yea she's super hot' for the fifth time he just turned his phone off.

Cue Wendell laughing from the living room.

Neil was nowhere to be seen and Arthur found himself worried. When Niall came home and asked Arthur what was for dinner he'd looked irritable when Arthur told him that Neil had made it already.

Wendell didn't care; he wasn't picky about his food. It was good and Arthur wished he could have finished all his, but it was only his first day and they'd swamped him with homework.

Strangely enough, and yet another change of routine for him, Neil told him to go to bed early, that he'd wait up for Isabella.

Arthur didn't argue it wasn't his place; this was his mother's lover who had more of a right than him to wait for her to come home.

It took him a long time to fall asleep, but when he heard the front door open, familiar tinkling laughter, he was able to rest.
