Sonnet 4

"'Tis better to have loved and lost

Than never to have loved at all."

But why then the too cruel cost,

The fire that burns after the fall?

One disagreement—that was all

It took to lead this fight to start

Our words of love to bitterest gall,

The war that tore my wings apart.

Far from heaven's starry chart

I cannot feel Your love inside

Yet still I love You in my heart:

Love hated by my powerful pride.

Though still my heart does love You strong

It tells me more that You were wrong.
