Warning: DEPRESSING. My mind two years ago was a scary place.

...

Time is inexorable, it never stops. One may often wish to change the past, whether it is a passing fancy or an aching regret. But, in the end everyone knows this to be impossible. What if that wasn't exactly true?

...

Beth stared in fascinated horror as her younger sister's blood pooled on the cement sidewalk. Brown eyes glassy, wide open to the sky above. Her expression frozen as it had been the moment before her death.

Her little sister Amy, dead.

...

The coffin was obscenely small, too small. Beth had lingered in the back for most of the service, avoiding looking over the edge of dark polished wood. Now, however she was.

Amy was dressed in her favorite lavender-blue dress, the one she had worn to their cousin Lia's wedding. Her dark red hair framed her face in curls, tiny hands holding a three-flower bouquet of tiger lilies. Amy's favorite flower, she would have loved how they matched her hair.

Beth turned away from the too-pale face in the too-small coffin.

It should have been her.

A month later Beth Johnson vanished.

...

Beth crouched in front of Amy, tying off the now redone braid. She spoke, her voice low.

"Amy, promise me you'll keep smiling. "

"Why?"

"Just promise, little sister."

"I promise."

A gunshot echoed, tires screeched, and Beth Johnson died smiling.

Authors note:

Damn, that was depressing. Can't really say I'm surprised though. Cleaned this up after finding it in a tenth grade notebook of mine, and I've only gotten better at angst since.

Do y'all like it?

If you do , and if you guys want I can post the original as a second chapter... just let me know in a review...

A.K.A: Please review!

Just stretching the finger muscles a bit here, been going through said notebook and posting the old stuff I found.

Anywho, thanks a ton for reading! =D And apologies for the ramblings.
