The life you were living

had been no life at all

And yet it hurts to watch it slip away

like a shadow that I chased

through empty halls

always slipping 'round corner

after dark corner

Life, like water slipping

through incompetent fingers

quicksilver sliding off my skin

leaving no trace

but a memory of coolness on my palms

I wanted more

but you had none to give

And I am just a spoiled child

selfish in my ways

I want more time

More time

And I'll always want more words

Just a few more words

I want to know

If there is a God in the universe somewhere:

Did he lead you away gently?

Did he even care?
