A/N: Hey! This is the first book out of hopefully many that is to come regarding the Solans. All I request is that you read it with an open mind. Before doing so however, I request that you read a story titled 'Solace: An Introduction' that I also published. It will explain a lot of things to you. Other things that are unclear in the story are purposefully written so; the idea is that the story is described as it took place and without any background information.

Reviews are greatly appreciated and they help me improve in my writing! Even if its something small, please comment so that I can get better.

Disclaimer: As much as I'd like to claim that the entire story is only my creation, I cannot do so. I have obviously been influenced by the many fantasy books I've read and the TV shows I've seen. If you come across anything that seems familiar, it probably came from somewhere else!

Destiny smiled softly as blood rained all around her. 'Red rain', they called it—it really was an apt description for the phenomenon. Her smile widened as she thought of how Leo would react to the fact that he had to clean up after her, once again. She could imagine his irritated, but resigned face as if he was standing right in front of her.

With another look at the scene, she turned around and walked out of the building. Too lazy to take the stairs down, she headed for the nearest window and leaned out, surveying the environment. Satisfied, she jumped out of the window and lightly fell down ten stories before landing on the pavement below. She glanced up again and licked her lips in thought. The police were likely to have a field day. They had gotten really good at recognizing her MO, so she only had a couple of hours before they called the office and asked for a representative. And that was where Leo would come in—he was the only one who was likely to get the blood out of the place.

Well, a couple of hours were more than enough. She headed towards an alley, thinking about how to get back to her room. Should she fly there, or just jump? Or maybe she could do as Leo usually did and move really fast. Finally, she decided on just jumping home; both flying and air bending involved quite a bit of effort and she wasn't in the mood. She turned around and, with a mocking bow to the building she could still see, jumped. She landed in the woods next to her dorm room and walked up to the dorm. She was quite glad that it was late enough that no one, even the drunks, was still awake. She entered the building and climbed the stairs to her floor. Once there, she walked down the corridor and came up to her room.

With a sigh, she unlocked her room and entered. She wondered if she was going to be interrogated tonight like every other night, and was pleasantly surprised to see that there were no unwanted visitors in her room. With a smile, she put her keys on the table and undressed, plopping down on the bed and pulling her blanket over her. With luck, she would be able to get an hour or two of rest before she had to get up for classes.
