1"Damn, you look so much like your mum!"
That was the last thing Sapphire wanted to hear. Her body tensed as her blue eyes flashed. Biting back the snarky remark forming at her lips, she plastered a smile on her face as she turned about. Their eyes met. It was her cousin, Lilly, wearing a smug grin.
So Sapphire said the first thing that popped in her mind. "Fuck you, arsehole."
"It's great to see you too, love." Lilly said, her thick Aussie accent dripping with arrogance. "Your mum's gorgeous, I figured it'd be a complement." She shrugged, as a small smirk played at her lips.
"You know I fucking hate that," Sapphire snapped back, narrowing her eyes at her. If only looks could kill.
Lilly took a step back, arms raised. "Oh come on, love. It's been ages since we've seen one another."
"Not long enough, apparently," Sapphire replied, rolling of her eyes.
Lilly's smug grin reappeared. "Only because I hit a sore spot..."
Sapphire glared back at her. "I hate you," she muttered under her breath.
"Hit the nail right on the head, eh Saph?"
"Oh fuck you!" Sapphire spat out, flipping her off.
"Anytime, love, just name when and where!" Lilly chuckled, giving a wink.
"Hell to-the-fucking no." Sapphire gritted her teeth. "I wouldn't even if you were the last living person on Earth!"
Lilly visibly winced. "You know that's not true..."
"It is!" Sapphire crossed her arms, turning up her nose.
Lilly sighed, her arms raised again. "Sorry, I've always been kind of an... arse to you, but you make it way too much fun." She smiled as she leaned in towards Sapphire. "You are kinda cute when you're mad, though," she whispered.
Sapphire's boldness melted in a heartbeat. "Wha- I- uh... Thanks?" she stammered, her eyes dropping to the floor.
She inhaled sharply as Lilly leaned in further, catching one of her loose bronze hair between her fingers. The hint of a sweet perfume beckoned her closer as her heartbeat echoed in her ears. Her gaze rose slowly up the other girl's form, lingering on her lips before she dared to meet her eyes.
