Chapter Thirty Six

WE EXIST BUT WE'RE TAKING IT SLOW

We were in the living room planning out the next hunt when Lily nudged my shoulder. "You're staring into the distance again," she tells me. I then look back at Darrell as he shows the group a picture of the main target. A man wearing glasses, as pale as a powdered frosted donut. His hair looked even darker in contrast to his skin. His face looked gaunt as though he were severely ill, but the harsh glint in his eyes made him seems anything but ill.

"He's a vampire, a pure-blood, so we will need both Mary and Samuel on this hunt as speed is a must when dealing with pure-blood vampires. But we also need strength, so that means Mark will need to be present too.

Lily and Flower you'll be speed, strength and magic. I'll be there to make sure that no one gets killed. Eric will also be present because we know that two of his guards are currently possessed by demons. We'll need to banish them quickly to even the playing field."

Darrell then turns off the projector and folds his arms over his chest.

"We will attack tomorrow morning at five am, just as everyone is winding down to go to sleep—they'll be unprepared that way."

Lily nodded her head, thankful that she was on vacation tomorrow, but I knew she was groaning on the inside. I in turn, felt remotely guilty about attacking someone in their sleep, but I knew deep down they'd be much harder than rabbits napping in the grass.

*That's so early, and it'll be so cold!*

*Evil doesn't care about it being too early or too cold*

Lily chuckles and Darrell looks at her and then at me, somehow knowing that I'm the culprit. I only smile innocently.

"We get good sleep tonight, for we wake up at three to get ready to leave," Darrell demands.

Everyone starts to get up and go, but Lily and I remain behind since I know she has questions.

Eric and Darrell are cleaning up the papers in front of them when Lily asks the first question.

"So did you guys find out if Flowers sword was the real deal or not?"

Darrell answers first, "We don't know, we don't have anything to compare it to."

Lily nods her head.

"I've read about pure blood vampires, it mentions that they can be just as fast and strong as a demon," I tell Darrell.

"Depending on how much and what type of blood they drink, they can be faster and stronger than some demons. And worse yet, they often are far smarter," Darrell says.

"Their agility can be superior as well," Eric mentions.

"But they do have one thing stacked against them, something that we have and they don't," Darrell continues to say.

"Magic," Lily chimes in.

"Indeed, and we have quite a bit of magic at our dispense," Darrell concludes while looking at me.

It's then that I realize that I may be a very important asset to the team and that I'm thankful to be a part of it in more ways than one.

*We got this, Flower.*

*We got this, Lily*
