She stood there in all her glory. A queen. A goddess.

If it weren't for all of the humans surrounding us I would have snapped her delicate little neck. Yet, somehow, that did not feel completely true. Like I wouldn't hurt her. Then I snapped out of it, of course I would kill her. She was my enemy; Queen of the Angels.

She looked it with long flowing white hair and pale blue eyes - almost clear - with pale skin. Said blue eyes latched onto me suddenly. Pale lips parted and from where I stood - across the street from the cafe where she sat - I could hear her soft gasp that would easily slip human ears.

I, myself, was King of the Demons. Long black hair pulled back in a ponytail and midnight black eyes, I stood with my arms crossed, back against the wall and stared back at her.

We continued to stare until her friend waved a hand in front of her face. Seka turned to face her. Yes, that was her name; Seka.

I knew that an attack here would not happen. It would be uncivilized, impolite, incorrect to attack Seka with all the humans around, even if she was alone with only a human as her ally.

Yet I could feel a reluctance deep within me. Something that didn't want to follow her, hurt her. Kill her as this war would demand. Something urged me to walk away. So I did.

It was weeks later that I found her again. I had left Paris in favor of Budapest - hoping that I could avoid Seka.

I had left a human club at midnight and had started the long walk home. None of the plentiful women could hold my attention for more than one drink so I was alone.

I was walking along a dark abandoned path in the middle of a dislocate part of the city. Just then I saw a figure in the distance. Intrigued, I continued to walk forward when the figure entered an alleyway.

A flash of white light and the figure was flown out again.

I ran.

This could only mean that an Angel was here. One that I would gladly dispatch of in order to at least faze Seka.

As I turned around the corner, I fell to the floor in shock.

Seka was being pinned down by several human - all injured - and struggling for her life.

Getting up I grabbed two of the males and threw them out of the alleyway. Together, Seka and I dealt with the young males.

She turned to me then and her eyes seemed to spear into me. Ice. Endless blue ice was to be seen for a hundred miles ahead. Sharp. Cold. Beautiful.

Snow fell, the flimsiest drops of geometric perfection, lightly and gently falling onto the city creating a white blanket for all to see. I could not see the snow in Seka's hair it was so pure. We stared at each other - barley a foot apart - when I slowly reach forward to wipe away the blood on her bottom spit lip with my thumb. She let me.

When my hand dropped we both turned as one and separated.

In the weeks that passed she was rarely seen. For some unknown reason she was avoiding me and that hurt. Like there was a knife in my heart and she was a painkiller.

That sounded like a sappy line but that's what happens when you have been in love with someone for twenty years.

When I saw her again we were on a tropical island. She wore a white robe as I watched her through the window. She paced. Why did she pace? Could she sense me? Is she in trouble?

Then she spun towards the windows and her eyes locked on mine...

We met again on the train. For the ten hour trip I sat across from her with nothing but a table between us. She read a book and I watched her. She let me.

I followed her to her hotel that night. She left the door open.

The next morning I awoke to find her staring out of the window. I wrapped my strong arms around her slender from as I whispered a question in her ear.

"Heaven or Hell?" Duty or me? She did not answer.

We met again and again over the course of a century. Nobody knew. Not her unfaithful husband nor my unwanted bride.

I asked her "Heaven or Hell" several times and she never answered.

In Heaven I would attack her and her kind and she would throw me from my world. In Hell her 'husband' would fight me and I would send him home beaten. It was then that I changed my question.

"Heaven, Hell or Earth?"

"Earth?" She turned to me with a frown.

"No duty, only love." I explained.

"Is this love?" She asked as she lay her head against my chest.

"Yes. Forbidden as it is, this is love." I stroked her hair.

"Love. I will always choose love. Even forbidden love. Demon." She smiled at me.

"My Angel." I kissed her.
