A/N: So, guys... This was requested by Tenshi no Yami, who wanted a Halloween story involving Kieron and Terry, with the stipulations that Kie had to wear a costume ;) Oh, and fluff and the like, so, yeah, there's some of that. I'm not sure about this story because it takes place some time after Almost Thankful, like by a year or so, which is still the future of the series, so it might not actually happen depending on what I do with Almost Dying xD So keep that in mind! This has little to no bearing on the plot of the series. Like Almost Thankful and Almost Teasing, this is just a fun little side story that might happen, depending on a variety of things.

That being said, I hope you enjoy! This was hard to write as, when I started writing it, I was in the middle, of, um... well... Chapter 26 and 27 of Almost Dying, so xD You should probably read the stories before reading this one-shot, as I don't explain too much. Or you could just read the other two one-shots and then this one; that might work. Either way, this is for fun and for a friend who wrote me a story in return ;) So, yep! Enjoy!

Story length: 8853

Enjoy, Tenshi-chan!

Read!

Almost Halloween

Almost Living side story; little to no bearing on actual plot of series

Almost Halloween

"Kieron… do you… have plans this weekend?"

My blue-haired perpetual looked over the rim of his book to settle dark blue eyes on me. I swallowed, looking away, suddenly feeling a little nervous. Sensing my nerves, as always, he sighed and closed his book, placing it on the bedside table, just under the small lamp there.

"Alright," he said, "spit it out."

I drew in a small breath. "Well… Halloween's on Friday."

"So it is." His eyes narrowed into these thin little lines filled with suspicion. "What's it matter?"

"Well… we could… celebrate it. With something. I don't know."

We never celebrated holidays. Last holiday season, he'd been in Ethereal pretty much the whole time, so I spent it with my brother. The fighting might have died down, but they still demanded a lot from him in Ethereal. Training people, gatekeeping, fighting… He had to do a lot, which left him gone for days and weeks and months at a time, much to my chagrin. I hated being apart from him for that long; I enjoyed the closeness we now shared.

This year, though, I wanted to celebrate the holidays with him, starting with Halloween since it was the first one to technically start the holiday season, even though it wasn't a nationally recognized holiday.

Kids didn't even get out of school for it.

"Celebrate?" he repeated, watching me with this careful expression like he didn't understand the meaning of the word.

I shifted a little uneasily. As much as I loved him, it was still hard to bring these subjects up with him. "I dunno, with wine or… or something? I don't just want the holidays to pass by again."

"We had Thanksgiving last year."

I winced at the reminder. I hadn't spoken to my dad since, and Kieron and I rarely spoke about it. We'd both apologized to each other, and it was in the past.

"Yeah, but… but nothing else," I told him. "So we should celebrate."

He watched me for a long moment, before he shook his head and reached for his book again. "I can't."

"Why not?"

"I'm going back to Ethereal. They have a job for me."

"But… But you were just there last week," I said, watching him, a frown pulling downward on my lips. "Can't they just… handle it themselves?"

"It doesn't work like that," he told me.

"Can't you just stay here?"

He shot me a quick glance. "Disobeying orders isn't the best idea."

I winced at the reminded. Disobeying orders there meant you got thrown in the Lake as eternal punishment. Their rules were very, very strict, especially with animalistic perpetuals such as Kieron. Since, you know, they weren't supposed to exist and those that did exist were at the bottom of that Lake.

I shuddered at the thought. The thought of Kieron being tied and thrown in there, never to resurface, to perpetually drown over and over.

"I… I know," I murmured. "but I just… what do you have to do?"

"Check on some gateways and train some people."

Of course. Like freaking always.

"How long will that take?"

"Human, I won't be here Halloween."

My shoulders drooped, the fight leaving me as I sighed heavily and nodded. "Okay," I said, trying not to let it show that it bothered me. It was just Halloween, after all; it didn't really matter, right? It wasn't like I could change his mind, or make him disobey his direct orders. That wouldn't help anyone and would only leave me losing control again.

It seemed to happen whenever he was in mortal danger, or something like that. It happened at random; I was never really sure what was happening until afterward. It always drained me and left me exhausted, and it wasn't picky about who it chose to kill and attack, either. Anything and everyone who was around who wasn't Kieron. I'd almost killed Ashere, Bekkah and Tommy before. Unacceptable.

I settled into bed next to Kieron, and sank under the covers, trying not to feel like a little kid who had just been told 'no' one too many times.

I woke to Kieron's mouth connecting with my own, his hands working down my bare sides even though I slept with a shirt on. I moaned into his mouth as his hands slipped beneath the band of my sweatpants, rubbing against me in a way which just simply wasn't enough, no matter how good it felt. I attempted to sit up but he growled and pushed me back down, his other hand firm against my left shoulder, keeping it pinned to the bed. His mouth connected with mine again, biting against my lower lip before he slid his lips toward my neck, biting and nipping and sucking and-

"Ow," I muttered when he bit down a little too hard.

He blinked at me innocently with those damn blue eyes of his. "That didn't hurt."

I smirked at him, lifting my arms to wrap around him. "What brought this on?"

He scowled. "I could feel your disappointment in my dreams, human."

"Sorry…?" I couldn't control my dreams, after all. He once teased me relentlessly, in a sexual manner, when I kept having sex dreams about him. As punishment, he told me. And he'd been so damn serious

"I contacted the Elders," he told me. "I'll be here for Halloween."

My eyes widened as I grinned at him, lifting my head enough to capture his mouth once more. He allowed it, deepening the kiss as he brought his head closer to mine, tongue slipping against my lips which I immediately parted, granting him entrance. He usually didn't do the whole tongue thing; and if he did, he rarely did it gently like that, usually just pushed his way in.

"Thanks, Kie," I breathed once he pulled back, allowing me to breathe because, you know, human limitations and all that.

He grunted.

"What'd you say to them? You won't… get in trouble, right?"

God knows I didn't want that.

He shrugged. "I told them it was in your best interest if I was here, and they relented."

I was important to them; they usually tried to acquiesce to my desires if it would make me happy and more willing to work with them. Kieron sometimes managed to use this to his advantage, thankfully.

"You're awesome," I said, grinning.

"Of course I am."

I laughed. "Now where we were, Kie-Kie?"

"Don't call me that, human."

I caught the scowl on his lips with my own mouth, my hands slipping down his sides to a much more interesting area. He was naturally well endowed, which I absolutely loved. I wasn't sure if all perpetuals were like this or if he – and I – was just lucky, but it was awesome either way. He allowed the movement, allowed my hands to free his member, allowed me to sit up a little and slide a little closer to him.

I sat up completely now, my chest against his own, my hands caught somewhere between us as his mouth demanded a lot from my own, teeth biting down sharply on my lip, but thankfully not enough to draw blood. His mouth moved away, then, hovering over my neck where he bit down a little more roughly, and I winced as much as I sighed in pleasure as he licked and sucked on that bitten area, his mouth doing crazy things to me, like leaving my dick pressing against the confinements of my clothes.

"Kieron," I breathed, "I-"

There was a knock at the door, then.

We both froze, his mouth biting down again on my neck, but he shifted away a little. I hesitated, waiting to see if the person would leave, but the knocking continued, and I sighed heavily, lightly pushing Kieron away. His mouth left my skin with this little popping sound, and I knew I'd have a hell of a hickey, but that was okay. He didn't make any lasting marks on me very often; I usually enjoyed them. I liked being claimed as his, in a way. Because it meant he was mine as well.

I attempted to position my throbbing member into a position which was less noticeable, slipped on a shirt and rubbed at my now sore neck as I trudged through the house into the living room. I pulled the door open to reveal Lacy, with Amanda with her.

Amanda was two-years-old now, and was a sweet little girl. She ran at me, and I barely caught her in a hug.

"Unca Re!" she said happily.

She couldn't pronounce Terry yet, so she used the last vowel of my name.

"Hello, Terry," Lacy said somewhat tiredly, smiling at me. "I'm sorry to disturb you, but something came up at work and I don't know where else to turn."

"You need me to babysit?" I asked, just to clarify, even as disappointment spread through me, because I really just wanted to get back to Kieron. I could never say no to Amanda's cute face, though.

"Just for an hour or so," she said. "I'm really sorry, Terry, I know Kieron's here with you and you like to spend alone time together, but I didn't know where else to take her. It's too sudden to find a sitter, and I won't be gone long. I'm sorry to show up like this but you weren't answering your phone."

I didn't even hear it ring.

I glanced across the room, into the kitchen. The phone cradle was unplugged.

That sneaky bastard.

He planned this. Well, not Lacy bringing Amanda over, but he hadn't wanted to be interrupted. I grinned and looked at Lacy. "No problem," I told her. "We'll watch her for a bit."

"Thank you," Lacy said gratefully. "Sorry, again."

"No problem," I said again.

"Unca Kie!" Amanda shouted, tearing free of my grip and running behind me. I turned and saw Kieron exiting the bedroom, looking somewhat shocked as Amanda barreled into him, hugging his legs. She liked Kieron a lot; it was adorable to see.

Uncle Kie. So cute.

"We'll be fine," I told Lacy, grinning at the look on Kieron's face, that look of 'help me' he shot me, uncertain as to what to do with this child attached to him. So cute.

"Thanks again," Lacy said, before she walked away. I closed the door and laughed at my perpetual.

"She looks good on you," I said.

The glare he shot me wasn't unexpected.

Help me.

Aww, what's wrong? The big bad Kieron can't handle a little kid?

His glare deepened and I finally took mercy on him and walked over.

"C'mon, Kieron, you have to," I told him a few days later, lifting Amanda into my arms. She had this wide grin on her face whenever she saw Kieron. I wasn't sure how she got attached to him, but I wasn't going to question it. Kieron glared at me.

"No."

"Kieron, c'mon," I said, smirking at him, holding Amanda out to him. "How can you say no to this cute little face?"

"Pwease, Unca Kie," Amanda said, flashing those big brown eyes at him. Her black hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail, barely long enough to do so. Her bangs were cute. "Pwease!"

My perpetual melted before my eyes. It was always so adorable the effect this kid had on him. I wasn't sure if it was a soft spot for kids in general since he didn't have the best childhood, or because Amanda loved him, but either way it was so freaking cute. The scowl left his face and his shoulders drooped. He sighed.

"Fine," he muttered.

"Yay!"

"Yay," I echoed, grinning at him.

I will smack you.

No you won't, Kie-Kie.

Don't call me that.

I laughed at that irritated expression on his face. I put Amanda down upon hearing the front door open, and she ran from the room. A moment later Lacy laughed as she most likely caught her daughter. I grinned at Kieron again.

"I hate you for this."

I laughed. "No you don't, you love me."

He rolled his eyes.

I stepped toward him, smirking. "Right, Kie-Kie?"

"Don't call me that."

I chuckled, moving forward another step. He didn't move away. I slipped in front of him, reaching toward him to drag him toward me. He normally wouldn't allow this; he was always in charge. But lately he'd grown softer. I liked to think it was because he knew I wasn't going to abandon him, and that I loved him when he'd never been loved in his life. Even his own parents, according to him, didn't love him.

But I did.

Our mouths met in a gentle touch, only the needed pressure applied, before he sighed against my lips and pulled me closer, pushing me against the counter. We were in the kitchen at my brother's house. Just as I was really getting into the contact and everything, Kieron released me and stepped away just as Lacy and Amanda entered the kitchen.

Lacy also held a little baby boy in her arms. Lucas was only two months old; she'd gotten pregnant sometime before Christmas last year. He was a cute little thing with Lacy's blue eyes as opposed to Tommy's brown ones. He didn't have any hair yet, just the little peach fuzz all babies had.

We were supposed to take Amanda trick-or-treating tonight while Lacy went to my dad's house, where Tommy would meet her later. Tommy had been held up at work, and Lacy couldn't handle two kids alone, and she was exhausted. She'd gone trick-or-treating last year with Amanda; this year Amanda demanded that she go with me and Kieron. It was, again, super adorable.

But she also demanded that we dress up in costume.

Kieron was completely against this idea when I brought it up to him two days ago, when Lacy told me of Amanda's plans. She was pretty smart for a two-year-old; she could form short sentences and usually pronounce things correctly. And it was just fucking cute how she called my perpetual 'Unca Kie'. Uncle Kieron. So adorable.

She called me 'Unca Re-Re', pronouncing the ending sound of my name twice. Kieron laughed at this; then I just had her say his name and he shut up pretty fast.

Again, freaking adorable.

And awesome.

And perfect.

Everything I'd ever wanted. Being part of my brother's family, taking Amanda trick-or-treating, and Kieron accepted as a member of the family. Being this close to him was so great. I loved the closeness we shared; it was the best. He could argue and say he didn't feel the same, but I knew he did. He could lie all he wanted; the bond couldn't.

Tonight would be great.

Which reminded me…

My eyes widened and I snagged Kieron's arm. "We need to get costumes!"

He groaned aloud at the thought but dutifully followed after me as I led the way out of the house, bidding Amanda and Lacy goodbye. We'd be back around seven tonight to go trick-or-treating. We needed to find some costumes in the next five hours.

Everywhere would probably be out of costumes by now, though. It was Halloween; all the good ones would be taken.

We'd find something, though.

"I don't want to do this," Kieron muttered as we climbed into my car. I keyed the ignition and glanced at him, smirking at the scowl plastered on his face as he fastened his seatbelt.

"It'll be fun, Kie-Kie."

He shot me a glare. "Don't call me that."

I laughed, the banter familiar. The warmth in my stomach grew.

"It's supposed to rain tonight anyway," he grumbled, looking out the passenger window as we stopped at a red light.

I shrugged. "We'll wear jackets, and we won't be out very long. After a few houses she'll be tired and have plenty of candy."

"Can't we just buy her candy? Why do we have to take it from strangers? Isn't there a warning about that kind of thing?"

I laughed, because he sounded so grumpy and serious. "Not accustomed to Halloween, Kie?"

"We don't have such silly holidays in Ethereal."

My interest piqued, I tossed him a quick glance as we passed through the green light before turning my gaze back to the road. "What kind of holidays do you guys have, anyway? I know you have Thanksgiving."

That was the only holiday I knew they had, though. I didn't ask about Christmas or anything. What had we done last Christmas? Well, he'd been in Ethereal, stuck training and gatekeeping, and I'd been left at the apartment, alone. I spent the holidays with my brother and his family on Christmas day, for a big dinner and watching Amanda open her presents with this gleeful little grin and soft babbling sounds. The look on Tommy's face had been the best part – a proud new father watching his baby girl open her presents on her first Christmas. She loved the wrapping paper and the bows.

So I spent Christmas day with them. They spent Christmas Eve with Dad. I hadn't spoken to him since that whole fiasco last Thanksgiving. By that Christmas I wasn't ready to see him again, or forgive him for what he did, even though it turned out okay in the end. Kieron forgave me for ignoring him, for my dad's sake, and kissing Rachel – even though she kissed me – and I forgave him for running off as he had.

I was actually happy he'd cared enough to even leave like that in the first place. For someone who supposedly couldn't care, he did a pretty good job of actually caring. He once told me I was the closest he came to caring. A smile still slipped across my face whenever I thought about those words, and that day. It had been perfect.

So I spent the holidays with Tommy, while Kieron was stuck in Ethereal. I offered him some presents when he returned a month later – a goddamn month, which nearly drove me crazy, but at least we could still talk via mental link – and he looked completely baffled.

I frowned, thinking back on it. I wasn't sure if he was just unfamiliar with the holiday, or if he was shocked someone got him anything. After all, he didn't have the best childhood. His parents actually managed to turn Hide-and-Seek into a strategy game wherein he was punished if he didn't correctly find someone. He was rewarded with zhin if he did find someone. I still hated thinking about it.

The Christmas before that… It was special, but not exactly Christmas, really.

And we'd never celebrated Halloween. I personally wasn't a big fan of the holiday; I stopped dressing up and enjoying it after Mom died. Dad was never big on trick-or-treating and Tommy was older than me, and didn't want to drag his little brother around in search of free candy.

But this year Amanda wanted us to go, and by God, we were going.

Plus, seeing Kieron in a costume was just awesome. There was no way I could pass up this opportunity.

"Well, Kie?" I asked, realizing he hadn't answered my previous question about what kind of holidays they had in Ethereal.

He sighed, shifting somewhat in his seat. "I don't know," he said. "I haven't… really celebrated any of them."

I took in a breath and snapped my mouth shut. Of course he hadn't celebrated; he wasn't allowed to celebrate. Judging by the memories I saw of his childhood, it wasn't very pretty, with his parents basically ignoring him or punishing him, and him not being treated like the others, not even other perpetuals of his type. So, no, he probably didn't know much about the holidays.

I'll fix that.

"When's the next Etherian holiday?"

He shrugged. "Two weeks, I think."

"What is it?"

He paused, thinking. "It's the birthday of the first perpetual; a perpetual holiday."

I frowned, glancing at him briefly. "When's your birthday?"

I'd asked before, but he gave me some vague answer about how perpetuals didn't keep track of such silly things. Now I was curious again.

"I don't know," he said quietly, looking out the window. "It's been too long; the years all mold into one. Doesn't matter, anyway. Perpetuals don't celebrate birthdays."

"That's terrible," I said.

"We're meant to be immortal," he told me. "What would be the point in celebrating forever?"

Okay… good point.

"It still sucks," I told him.

I made a mental note to attempt to find out his birthday later. I'd have to talk to his parents, and I didn't really know how to go about finding them. I was sure they'd turn up eventually, though. We usually ran into them randomly these days.

"You'll like Halloween," I told him, as a peace offering and change of subject.

He snorted, probably dislodging some snot with that one. "It's just candy, human."

"Just candy, he says," I muttered. "You just have to have the right mindset, Kie-Kie."

The glare he shot me was completely expected and completely ignored. "Don't call me that, human."

I laughed. "But it's cute."

"I'm not cute," he said, almost petulantly, and I glanced over to see him scowling at the dashboard, practically pouting. I laughed again, unable to hold it in.

"Sexy?"

That scowl intensified and he shot me a quick glare.

The Halloween store, as I suspected, didn't have the best selection. They were sold out of pretty much everything. All of the usual suspects were off the list – vampire, zombie, werewolf, etc. I had to look in a more obscure area to even find any costumes that weren't for little kids. Most of the adult costumes either didn't exist or were sold out already from other little kids demanding their parents dress up with them. Adults didn't have the best selection to begin with, unless you wanted to make your own, and me and sewing didn't get along. Too many pricks to my fingers.

Kieron scowled at the general selection while I smirked at him. He looked so out of place it was kind of hilarious. But I fought back the laughter and lightly touched his shoulder, nodding in a direction to let him know I was going around a corner, into another aisle. He shrugged and went back to scowling at the terrible selection.

I snuck away before I could laugh. We never really celebrated the holidays, unfortunately. I was never really much of a holiday person after Mom died, but I still celebrated with the family. Kieron had never really had anyone to celebrate with, which was sad. He didn't appreciate pity, though, so I never said anything.

Upon scanning the few costumes left, I grinned as I caught sight of one with these big cat ears. Next to it was also a costume with this cape and staff, for some wizard in an adult book series I'd only vaguely heard about but never read. I wondered if Kieron had; he liked to read and kept a book on the bedside table for before bed, usually.

But those costumes…

I could see him in cat ears.

Hilarious, and adorable. It suited him, somehow, especially since these particular ears were blue. It just fit, even though I knew I was the only one who could see his blue hair, instead of the black everyone else saw. I still wasn't entirely sure why I could see his hair color and they couldn't; it wasn't that important, right? Something to do with visual perception or something like that.

I quickly snatched the costumes, rushed to a cashier and bought them before Kieron could notice. Once they were safely tucked away in bags, I found him still scowling at the general selection. I grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the aisle.

"I found some," I told him. "Let's go eat!"

"What did-"

I hurried him out of the store. "Just some random things, don't worry about it. We're only wearing them for a few hours; it doesn't really matter. I'm starving! What do you want to eat?"

He sighed. "Why do I feel like you're hiding something?"

"I'm not," I said innocently.

He shot me a glare. "Funny how I don't believe you, human."

I shrugged. "Food, Kieron! Where?"

He sighed as we climbed into the car. I tossed the bags in the back as he buckled his seatbelt. I climbed into the driver's seat and keyed the ignition. "Wherever, I guess."

I liked going out to eat with Kieron. It happened more often now, of course, so it couldn't really be considered a date, exactly, but it was still nice and rare enough for me to still greatly enjoy it. He was usually in Ethereal while I was stuck here; it wasn't very convenient, and I hated the time we spent apartment, because I enjoyed his presence and when he was home – it was so great to think of that apartment as our home – I got so used to his presence I didn't know what to do when he went back to Ethereal.

I drove across town to this little restaurant we visited sometimes. It wasn't anything fancy, and was small and homey, but the food was good. They had cheesesteak sandwiches, which I loved. Kieron preferred the hamburgers.

We got our usual table in the back corner, in a window seat, and the waitress brought us our drinks without us asking. I hadn't realized we came here so much, but that was kind of awesome. Like we belonged here. I liked it.

Kieron sat back in his seat after we ordered, tossing me a glance. "Spill," he said.

"No thanks," I told him. "I'd rather drink it."

He rolled his eyes. "I meant tell me what you're hiding."

"Nothing, Kie."

"What costumes did you get?" His eyes narrowed, darkening with suspicion.

I shook my head. "I got tired of looking; just grabbed some. They can't be that bad, and we're only wearing them for a few hours, so what's it matter? I didn't even look at them."

He eyed me for a long moment. I fought the urge to shift under the scrutiny. Finally he sighed and shook his head. "Fine, human," he said. "I'm only wearing that damn thing for two hours. Understood?"

"Understood, Kie-Kie."

"Don't call me that."

"Unca Kie! Re!" Amanda shouted as she ran to us, instantly hugging Kieron's legs. Kieron stiffened at the contact, still unused to it, before he reached down and ruffled her hair. I grinned from next to him, lightly nudging his shoulder.

The glare he shot me wasn't nearly as threatening due to the blue cat ears on his head, the band hidden in his hair, making it looked like they actually belonged. Especially since I saw the blue hair, and knew he could have animal ears if he went animalistic on me.

To complete the outfit, he had blue gloves with fake claws on them, blue boots with fake claws to look like animal legs, and a tail but he refused to wear it. I brought it with me anyway. He looked so completely out of place with it on, and it took over an hour to even convince him to wear it, while he was growling at me about planning this. I told him it was for Amanda, and it was only for a few hours, and he reluctantly relented, finally. From there he tried to get out of wearing it until we got to Tommy's, but I told him we needed to be dressed and ready to go by then.

While he changed in the bathroom into his costume, I changed in the bedroom, donning dark clothes, a black cape/trenchcoat, and a long wooden staff, along with a black top hat. When he came out of the bathroom, looking all sullen and adorable, I pretended to cast a spell on him, and he gave me a mental headache for my efforts.

"Amanda, come get your jacket!" Lacy called from the other room.

Amanda scurried away in her little princess outfit. She was Cinderella this year, equipped with a plastic tiara and a beautiful sparkling dress, along with her little shoes. She looked cute, and oh so eager.

I looked at Kieron, grinning as I lightly grasped his shoulder, pulling him toward me. I could have sworn he made those ears twitch in irritation. "You look nice," I said.

"I hate you."

"It's just for tonight," I told him. "And you look cute."

"I'm not cute," he said petulantly, and I almost expected him to stamp his foot.

"Already," I agreed with a laugh, "you're sexy. Better?"

"I hate you."

"Love you, too, grumpy."

Amanda hurried back into the room, grinning up at us, her hair pulled into light curls. Lacy was good at doing her daughter's hair, even though she never even did her own hair like that. She was a good mom and reminded me of my own mom. I was happy Amanda would have a good life.

Lacy entered the room, holding Lucas in her arms. "Thanks for doing this, Terry," she said, smiling at me.

I always liked Lacy. She was so nice, and understanding, and everything a good mother should be.

I nodded. "I don't mind," I told her. "Right, Kie?"

He grumbled something in response. Lacy grinned at him.

"You look adorable, Kieron," she told him with a quiet little laugh.

"I hate you, Terry."

"I didn't say it," I protested.

"Blame you."

I laughed, grabbing his arm, threading my own arm around it, stepping closer to him like we were on a date or something, which, I realized, we kind of were. We just also happened to have a kid with us. But that was okay. He scowled at me but didn't argue or attempt to move away, probably because Lacy was watching and Amanda was attached to his leg. She really liked Kieron. Secretly, Kieron was fond of her, too, though he'd never outright admit it or anything. I knew, though; we shared a bond, after all. He couldn't hide it from me.

This is the first time I've got trick-or-treating since Mom…

The thought appeared unbidden and left me swallowing thickly. Kieron's arm tightened around my own in response to my rising sense of nostalgic sadness, and I looked at him, smiling even as his scowl deepened.

Happy shit, human, think happy shit.

Okay, Kie-Kie.

Stop calling me that, dammit.

I laughed, even though Amanda had no idea what I was laughing at, but she was too caught up in her own little world to realize, looking at all the other people moving down the sidewalk in the dying sunlight. It was chilly out, but she had a jacket. I didn't, but my costume provided one for me, really, and Kieron brought one but had it slung over his other shoulder, currently not using it.

Acting all macho, huh?

I smirked at the thought.

The first house we walked up to gave her two candy bars. She happily accepted them and had to tell us all about it as we walked to the next house. This continued for a few houses, with Kieron warm at my side in the otherwise chilly air, until the rain started to come down. It started as a few sprinkles here and there, then all seemed to come down at once. Amanda put her hood up and Kieron glared up at the sky like everything bad was its fault, including the fact he was in a costume he wanted no part of.

He still looked adorable, though. He couldn't make anything look threatening or intimidating in that costume. It just made him look cute, and made it look like he was pouting instead of glaring.

It was starting to get really cold when Amanda burrowed into my side, shivering, though she was still smiling and dragging us toward the next house.

It was getting too cold for her, though. We needed to stop, but she was eagerly pulling us forward. How could I say no?

Seeing my hesitation, Kieron sighed. "I'll get the rest of the block's candy," he said, kneeling in front of Amanda. "Okay? You go with Terry and start back to the house; it's cold."

"But-" she started, lower lip trembling.

"Be a big girl," he said, which made her smile. "Go with Uncle Terry."

"Okay!" she said, happily beginning to drag me in the opposite direction. I took the bag from her hands and handed it to Kieron, mouthing a 'thanks' to him. He nodded and turned away, walking the other way down the sidewalk, toward the houses we hadn't visited yet.

The walk back to Tommy's house didn't take very long. Lacy wasn't supposed to leave for Dad's for another ten minutes. If we hurried, Amanda could go with her mom and I could get back to alone time with Kieron.

Ahh, alone time with Kieron.

I was happy Amanda didn't know what that grin on my face meant.

We made it back to the house in record time, and Lacy was just getting ready to leave. She happily accepted Amanda, and they climbed into her car before pulling away. I went inside to get warm and wait for Kieron.

As the minutes passed, I became a little uneasy. It took almost ten minutes to quickly walk back to the house, dragging a two-year-old with me through the rain. Kieron was alone and could move quickly; what was taking so long?

Kie?

I hate you.

Why?

But at least it was good to hear him.

I had to fight a five-year-old for this candy, dammit.

Oh, God, he sounded so freaking serious. The laugh escaped me, echoing through the empty house. Kieron against a five-year-old in an epic glare-off for some candy. Kieron in his costume where his glares weren't frightening, only adorable, looking more like pouts than anything else. So it was basically a five-year-old facing a five-year-old in the cuteness factor.

I busied myself with fixing a warm cup of tea, attempting to warm myself while I waited. He'd be back soon; was on his way back now. I sat at the kitchen table and pulled the forgotten newspaper toward me.

The front door opened and closed, and I put the paper down, as well as the cup of tea, to move forward and greet my boyfriend.

I wasn't expecting the quick punch to the face which left me twisting and tumbling into a wall. I wasn't expecting the knife pressed against my jugular, or that gloved hand wrapping around my mouth, silencing me as my gaze latched onto a ski mask, the only thing visible those beady dark eyes.

"Say a word and you're dead," the guy hissed with this breathy growl. It was this tone that told me he was completely serious and would waste no sleep over slicing my neck and killing me right here, and I didn't know where Kieron was. How close, how far… if he'd arrive in time to heal me if this intruder did decide to kill me…

The hand moved from my mouth and I released a slow, shaky breath as that knife pressed more firmly against my neck.

"W-What do you want?" I whispered shakily, counting the seconds. Kieron would be here soon; everything would be fine. This wasn't a golden weapon; it wouldn't really hurt him. Okay, it could hurt him but nothing major; he'd heal just fine. Me, on the other hand…

"No one's supposed to be here," the guy growled. "I saw them leave."

They knew Lacy, Tommy and the kids weren't here. I must have come as a surprise, as well as the unlocked door.

"S-Sorry," I said. "I didn't… If you let me go, I won't tell anyone you came here."

"Liar," the guy snapped. "You know too much."

"Know too…?" My eyes widened as I held my hands up, wincing when the knife shifted, cutting into skin, a thin trail of blood dripping down my neck. "I don't know anything! I don't know what you look like, what you want, you didn't break in so there's nothing to-"

"What's going on?" a second voice asked.

When I first heard it, when the guy stiffened a little, I thought it was Kieron. I began to relax, but instead it wasn't Kieron, but another guy but this time without a ski mask. I quickly looked away so I wouldn't see his face, but it was too late. I saw dark hair and blue eyes, and-

"Fuck," the second guy said upon noticing me. "He saw me."

"He knows too much," the first guy agreed.

"I don't know anything," I protested, closing my eyes. "I didn't see you. I don't know anything!"

It felt like I was back in that room with the demon; back on that table, being tortured. Nails ripped from my skin, fingers broken…

I don't know anything.

Kieron, where are you?

He didn't answer. I hoped that meant he was focusing on getting me out of here, and not that he was unconscious somewhere. They could have seen him outside or something; there could have been more of these people. They could have randomly had the kind of weapon that really, truly hurt him. They could be working for the Master.

This could all be a trap…

They'd tried getting my family before, after all. Why would now be any different? Just because they'd waited for Lacy and them to leave didn't mean anything. It could have been part of their scheme.

"I don't know anything," I said.

"Kill him," the second guy said, sounding like he was telling someone to pick up a gallon of milk while they were at the store, not like he was giving the order to end someone's life.

The knife sliced.

In the second it began to slice through the flesh of my neck, skimming over the jugular for a quick, clean kill which I would only feel for a few seconds, Kieron barreled into the guy from behind, snarling and growling and everything I wanted right then. The knife cut me, but just missed the very vital part of my neck as I collapsed, sliding down the wall to the ground, released as the guy was knocked aside and pinned beneath my perpetual.

The second guy seemed startled at Kieron's presence; that was good. It meant it was a random attack and not something meant specifically for my perpetual.

"Fuck!" the guy snapped, raising his gun.

Kieron had knocked the first guy unconscious – or dead, I wasn't sure from this position, hand clasped against my bleeding neck – and was now standing up, rounding on the second guy, a snarl emanating from his lips. He still had on his costume, and those ears, so he didn't look that scary, unfortunately.

The guy pulled the trigger.

The next thing I saw, blood exploded through Kieron's head.

And he crumpled to the ground in a motionless heap. Pain shot through the bond, entering my mind, intermingling with my thoughts.

"Kieron…?" I gasped, crawling forward. "Oh, fuck, Kie-"

He shot my perpetual in the head. He shot my perpetual in the head. He shot Kieron in the head.

Rage built up inside of me. The burning was familiar; I knew what would happen next, and actually reveled in it. Reveled in it because he shot Kieron, he shot Kieron, my perpetual, mine-

As the rage was building up, the burning beginning to take over to kill this asshole for hurting what's mine, the gun raised again.

I didn't hear the shot.

Only darkness.

Consciousness returned slowly. A snake slithering through my mind. A haze over my thoughts. Blood. Red. Kieron.

Kieron.

My eyes flew open and I sat up with a gasp, remembering something about a gun. A bullet. My perpetual's head.

A robbery, or something, at Tommy's house. Except I surprised them by being there, and then Kieron…

Warm lips met mine in a solid embrace, tongue flicking across my mouth, leaving me gasping and breathless as my gaze slowly focused on those dark blue eyes, that warm, familiar face.

"Kieron," I breathed against his pliant mouth.

"Mm," he hummed in response, lips vibrating against my own.

"You're okay," I said.

He pulled back, looking me over. "Just a graze, human."

"G-Graze? No. I saw… the blood… you dropped…"

"Head wounds look worse than they are," he said, shaking his head. "It jarred me. We're not immune to head wounds; they still hurt. I didn't lose consciousness, just… couldn't move for a second. It jarred my neck and… well. Anyway. I'm fine."

Thank God.

I knew it wasn't a golden weapon, which was like poison to them. But still, getting shot in the head… if he'd died to heal like he would have had to do then… someone would have found him, did an autopsy probably, and-

Those lips swallowed down the words which attempted to tumble from my mouth. Warm hands slipped under my shirt, smoothing over my flat skin. I remembered getting shot, but I wasn't sure where. I didn't ache anywhere. Bringing a hand up, I felt nothing on my neck to indicate anything had happened.

He'd healed me. He'd woken up, healed me, and probably gotten me out of there before anyone knew anything was wrong. I wasn't sure what happened after; what he told Tommy about the blood on the ground, both his and mine, and if that guy he attacked was unconscious or dead, but it didn't matter right now.

Right now all that mattered was me and my perpetual, alone after Halloween. After a very rough night of gunshots and robbers and people who gave no fucks about killing someone in cold blood. Killing two people, because I was sure that was their intention. I could only imagine what would have happened if Lacy or the others were there when they came in…

My stomach churned at the thought.

Kieron's hand slipping into my sweatpants, beneath the underwear, was a very welcome distraction. A minute later I was moaning as he grasped my growing member and pulled it free of the clothes, much as he had before, when he'd said he would be here on Halloween. He eased my pants and underwear down my legs until I kicked them off, and they were dropped unceremoniously on the ground.

A second later his mouth was back against mine, nibbling on the lower lip, as I reached for his own clothes. His growl stopped me, his hands releasing me to hold me down on the bed, keeping me from touching him where I wanted, his hands easily catching my wrists, pulling them above my head. They were held there, trapped, and I knew struggling wouldn't help, but I didn't want to struggle.

"Kie," I said, smiling at him.

"Shh," he said. "You almost bled out on me again."

I frowned. "I… what?"

"I can't let you out of my sight for any reason, can I?"

"I don't…"

"So you're going to stay here."

"Stay…?"

"And if you try to move… well, don't try to move." The grin he flashed me was all bite and no grin.

I swallowed. "O-Okay," I said quietly, biting down on my lower lip, shifting a little beneath him.

"You're already breaking the rules, human."

I froze. "I…"

"I know how much you love ropes."

I took in a breath. He knew how I didn't particularly like them; only sometimes. He'd never used them on me. Rufus, John, others… they had, yes. They liked it; they liked tying me up and leaving me helpless to stop them, especially John and Rufus. Kieron never did that, but could make me helpless by just holding my hands above my head.

"You wouldn't," I said.

He flashed me a dark smile. "You keep trying to die on me. I don't appreciate it."

"I…"

"It's rude, and I'm tired of constantly healing your ass."

"Kieron, I-"

"Shh," he said. "Or I will use those things you don't really like. Are we clear?"

I snapped my mouth shut and gave into a quick nod. I kind of like this side of him; I rarely saw it, but he could be demanding and he always meant what he said. This kind of threatening from him… was kind of new. I didn't hate it.

I wasn't sure if I liked the thought of being, you know, bound and helpless, but Kieron… hmm… He wouldn't hurt me, or terrify me like Rufus. He wouldn't use me like John.

His head dipped down as he released my hands, but I kept them where he left them just in case. His mouth came as a pleasant surprised, wrapped around my dick, all warm and wet and-

"Ffff-" I gasped as his tongue flicked over the head, teasing and wonderful and-

He growled in response, a reminder to be quiet, but all that growl did was send those vibrations through his mouth into my dick, and I couldn't stop the pleased sound which pushed past my lips.

I was so focused on that, on the growling and vibrations and everything, that I didn't notice those fingers until they'd already pushed past my hole, scissoring me open, stretching. I gasped again, bringing my hands down to tangle in his hair, helping him bob up and down, pushing him down onto me a little more until he stopped, growling, and I removed my hands with a sigh, only wanted to tangle them further in the dark strands.

A third finger slipped in, twisting in all its glory.

"K-Kie-"

His mouth lifted, then, releasing my throbbing member which still poked up, twitching hopefully as his gaze sought my face, those blue eyes narrowed and hardened, lips pulled back in this animalistic snarl I'd grown used to. He seemed to lose more of his humanity – for lack of a better word – when we did things like this. It didn't bother me; I kind of really liked it.

I still wore my shirt, much to my ever-growing chagrin. His fingers caught in the front of it, pulling me up into a sitting position, his fingers still deep inside of me. Those fingers within twitched, twisting and stretching and pulling and pushing, and I released this breathy moan as his mouth connected with mine, warm and hot and everything I wanted.

My fingers clawed at his own shirt, his clothes. He was still fully clothed, unfortunately. I plucked at his shirt, attempting to remove it, but he growled and bit down on my lip, causing me to whimper and released my grip. He didn't release my lip until I did so, and then continued those quick, pleasant kisses. His mouth left my own, moving toward my neck and collarbone, biting and nipping and marking.

This particular hickey hurt. It was quick, though, and his tongue easily licked away the pain, smooth and warm against the quick pain. One of my hands slid up, then, tangling in those wild strands of his hair, and he allowed it this time. I pulled his head closer to me as he began a new hickey near my collarbone, sucking on the skin before he stopped and bit down in the same place, leaving me gasping somewhat.

"K-Kieron-"

He chuckled and pulled away, blue eyes locked onto my own hazel ones. "You failed, human."

"I…" Irritation crept through me. "Lose the clothes, Kieron."

He laughed and shook his head, smirking at me. It wasn't a happy, easy-going smirk, but more of a wolfish grin. "Why should I?"

"Kie, c'mon."

"Make me."

Make…?

I growled and clawed at his shirt, wrestling it away from his body. He dutifully lifted his arms and allowed me to take it off, before he caught my wrists and held them together in front of me, caught between us.

"Kie," I muttered. "C'mon! This isn't fair."

"Who said I was fair?"

"Kieron!"

He laughed again. I liked hearing the sound, I had to admit. He was softer now, more comfortable around me and everything, and more open, but the sound was still kind of rare to me, and I still liked it as much as the first time I heard it so long ago.

"What do you want, human?"

I grunted. "You know what I want, dammit."

"Hmm… if you're going to be rude, I can just-"

"No!" I fought against his hold as he attempted to move away. He smirked and went back into his previous position, blinking at me so freaking innocently when he was anything but innocent. "Kieron, c'mon, you know what I-"

"Do I? Am I psychic, human?"

"You might as well be! Kieron, c'mon."

"I don't hear a please in there."

"Please, Kie."

"Please what?"

I took in a breath, glaring at him for a moment. Normally he shied away from talking during any intimate act, or mention said act afterward or before. This was why he didn't like being called sexy, and threatened to smack me or something any time I thought about it or brought it up. But sometimes he did this, mostly to tease me, and it was exhilarating as it was irritating.

"Please fuck me," I said as pleasantly as I could manage, with my dick still hard between us, and those fingers inside of me. I almost forgot about them until they twitched and twisted, leaving me gasping as the suddenness.

"As you wish," he replied.

He pushed me back down onto the bed, then, his fingers exiting me with a quiet pop, and I took in a slow breath as he came down on top of me, hands firm against my hips, keeping me pinned as his own hardness pushed against my stretched and waiting hole. I hadn't even realized he'd taken his pants off until then; he must have done it quickly, after pushing me down.

I strained to get a glance at him, but his fingernails bit deep into my skin for my efforts, a low growl emanating from his throat, so I stopped and accepted what was going to happen next. It would be nice if he would let me see him, but no. That was okay, though; I would enjoy this just fine and-

"Fff-" I gasped as he entered hard and fast, no preamble. There was so gesture to let me know it was coming, no words or motions, or even a slow moving penetration. It was quick and sudden and for a moment pain blinded me, because as much stretching as he'd done for me, he was still bigger, by far, than his fingers could offer.

He did give me a minute to adjust, though, and when I nodded, he began moving out and then back in, in quick, yet somehow gentle, movements. Pfft, right, gentle? Nope. Not Kieron. And yet…

"Fuck, Kie," I breathed, bringing my hands up above my head, grasping at the headboard to somehow steady myself as he slammed into time and time again, pleasure rising inside of me. "Fuck."

The pain stopped after a few thrusts, my ass now only resonating with this rising sense of pleasure, and he began hitting that spot. He knew exactly where it was, but usually avoided it until I growled at him a few times. He liked to tease me that way; I didn't like it because I wanted the pleasure now, and-

"K-Kie…"

He never spoke during these acts; or, if he did, I didn't hear him, too consumed with my own pleasure and everything. Meanwhile I moaned and grunted and everything; he usually didn't mind, as long as we didn't draw attention to ourselves.

Over and over, he rammed into me, hitting that spot only every few thrusts, to annoy me. After I growled and attempted to shift downward and up, so he'd have to enter me further, he finally chuckled and began hitting that spot again, time and time again, and the pleasure was becoming too much too fast.

"Oh, God," I gasped. "Fuck, Kie-"

His hand closed around my dick, then, easily pumping across it in rhythm with his thrusts, and I arched my back, moaning happily.

Oh, fuck. Yes, yes, yes.

"Faster," I urged.

Kieron growled in response, this breathy grunting sound I absolutely loved.

But he acquiesced to my desires and moved faster, harder, and entered me more deeply, forever hitting that wonderful spot. His dick hit hard and fast against my prostate, reigniting that pleasure anew, and more intensely now.

When his lips sealed over my mouth, his dick thrusting once more into me with the movement, I came all over his hand, releasing this whimper into his mouth as he bit down on my lips, tongue swirling across the pliant skin, slipping past my teeth as I made the sound during my orgasm.

Pleasure clouded my mind in that moment, and couldn't have felt happier about anything.

I had a family, a life, and I had Kieron.

That was all I really needed.

"I love you," I whispered, holding tight to him, talking into his pliant lips.

He hummed in response.

A/N: And there's that story xD Like I said, a little worried because it was hard to write such a hilarious scene such as Kie in a costume and stuff, but oh well. Oh, and Terry was dressed as Harry Dresden from the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Check it out ;) It was hard to write this because I didn't want to give too much away and didn't want to incorporate too much of the series in case it gives people the wrong idea, because this doesn't have much to do with the actual plot, and this is something that could happen in the future, like with the other short stories. So, yeah. Anyway, I'm rambling, so... Thanks for reading and please review!
