Your muscles gradually weaken, slow, grow heavy, but you don't notice. There is only one place your gaze is on, on your goal, and that's the only place you keep it focused on. You notice nothing else, and it is only when you realize that your approach towards your goal is slowing that you realizes the fact. You urge your muscles to go harder, faster, but however strong your will is, it cannot be imbued in your muscles. It cannot give your muscles the energy it needs, cannot push your brain to go beyond what it is only capable of, and so you watch in despair as your approach to your goal slows and eventually, stops altogether. You stay in place, too stunned, too tired, to do anything else but to look at your goal from a distance, knowing that that's all you can ever do from now on.
to strive is a privilege in itself, but to reach is often but a pipe dream.
