lay a million roads to everything you've ever dreamed
to everyone you've ever sought after, heard of, seen
woven as lines in charts and in diagrams
filled to the brim and just a bit toppling
because of all the lines therein
leading, leading, and straight to your dreams, they say
and yet so utterly misleading, to the point of heartbreak
for i've never tasted death but i followed it with your veins
receding, receding, and then going still
and i've never felt so much grief till i drowned in it
holding the atlas that couldn't lead me to you
