Wait, What Now?
Chapter 7- You Passed!
Moony gave Gem The Look. There is nothing more scarier to a male than an angry female, no matter the species, class, or hierarchy. Gem was pretty this soul-melting stare eye-balling could have burned ants. He shifted uncomfortably in the metal foldout chair that was placed in front of Moony's desk in her office. He dared not bring his green eyes to meet her light blue ones.
"Well, Gem," Moony said, deathly quiet. She straightened a stack of post-assignment reports on her desk. "What have you got to say for yourself?"
Gem simply muttered something under his breath.
Moony cocked an eyebrow and brushed a few strands of bubblegum-pink-dyed hair behind her ear. "Say, what was that again, Knight Boy?"
Again, Gem simply muttered a response.
Moony's normally pale cheeks flashed red with anger. She glared at Gem. This man, her charge, was threatening her very career- which she had just started a few days ago. She sighed to herself. If there was another incident like this, not even her status as The Man's Granddaughter would save her skinny tale.
She pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed again.
Gem raised his eyes a fraction of a centimeter. "Moony? You okay?"
Moony nodded, chuckling. It was mixed with anger and happiness and stress- among a few other things. "Well, technically, you did get saved, just not the way the story was intended. And you did kill two of the main characters and sent the third into shock, but you still passed. You were saved."
"And that's a good thing, right?" Gem asked, unsure if anything was right with Moony when she was in this mood.
"Yes. It's a very good thing, Gem," Moony replied. She leaned back in her swivel chair and entertwined her slender fingers. "It's a very good thing indeed because it means I get my end of the week quota bonus check which means I can get Mr. Incher's Baby Brother."
Gem grinned slightly and rubbed the back of his neck. "Oh. Okay. Well, that's good then, Moony." He bit his lip. "You keep mentioning this Mr. Incher fellow and his brother. Who are they, may I ask?"
"Two of the greatest things, er, people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing…" Moony replied dreamily.
Gem nodded, still confused. He stood up. "Oh. Okay. Well, if that's the case, I'm gonna go for a walk."
"Yeah, that's fine, Gem. You're dismissed," Moony replied. She opened the bottom drawer of her desk and began rummaging around. "Uh, lock the door on your way out, please."
