Life is Beautiful
It was already morning; the sky was a rosy orange where the birds were already relishing the beginning of a new refreshing. She sighed deeply inwardly looking at the empty space beside her and brushed her fingers lightly with a glimmer of sadness surrounding her for the umpteenth time.
She rose from the bed, tugging his blue sweater on her shoulder and remembering the ways he would kiss her bare shoulders or nuzzled his way on her neck to persuade her of something or console her. She sent another look around the room.
Despair. She wondered when it would vanish from her life and looked from her balcony at the scenery life was offering as a consolation prize.
The garden was drenched with colors at the flowers which sunned themselves in the watery light. Spring was adorning her land but he still wasn't back. Sighing she went back to get herself ready for her work at the forensic lab where she would be pouring her analysis on the latest crime around town as criminal psychologist where she was sure her brother will be quibbling about her of sleep and socialising since he went.
Entering the bathroom she shed all clothes and entered into the steamy shower where she relinquished her first meeting with him.

Rushing to catch her flight, Summer Montgomery dashed through the hotel lobby to ask for a taxi. After checking out from the hotel she hailed a cab and was shocked to see a man around her age getting in her cab in the same moment as her but on the other side.
"Excuse me? This is my cab. So please get out."
"Oh really? I don't see your name on it."
"Excuse me?"
"You're excused. Now if you would get out I've gotta a plane to catch, sugar."
Feeling exasperated she shoved that man's jacket outside the cab. "Acting so cocky, huh, you jerk? Now get the fucking hell out of here. I hailed this cab. Get lost. "
"God" The man groaned at the thought of stubborn women and said "Listen woman I badly need to catch this flight so don't make me angry and step out of here. "
Feeling her slack at his audacity she didn't leave him without rebuking him and so went on the vicious cycle of name calling.
Irritated at the couple behind him the driver shouted for once and for all. "Ou voulez-vous partir?" Glancing at the driver Summer said "A l'aeroport." at the same time did the blonde pig said.
Glancing furiously at each other they started bickering again as the driver took off to the airport as fast as he could to rid himself of these two people. Once at the airport, the driver took his chance and left as soon as both had disembarked their luggage from the cab.
Glaring at the blonde pig as she so named him she humphed at him and prayed to the lord if he existed then he should ban the entry of such people to heaven, even hell was too good for that pig.
Once in plane Summer couldn't help but feel ecstatic at meeting her brother Jacob again but her happiness didn't last for too long when she saw the too familiar face of the blonde pig coming towards her with a ruined jacket on his hand (the one she threw on the road) and smirked victoriously.
Victory had such a sweet taste – sweet sweet victory she mused in her mind and was horrified to find him beside her.
"Shut your mouth sugar, you do aware that's so unladylike."
"What are you doing here?" She pointed a slim finger towards him with an accusatory tone lacing her voice with bitterness.
"Why, isn't someone so happy to see me again, sugar?"
He said sarcasm dripping from his voice. Narrowing her blue eyes at him she decided to change but his next words stopped her in doing so.
"Don't bother to change your seat sugar, the flight is booked. "And indeed it was when flicked her eyes around the plane.
"Guess we are stuck together, sugar."
"Right." She mocked his sugar coated voice and just to inflict a bit of torture at him she said, "Well, looks like you're going to have to buy another jacket. Such a pity this one's made of good fabric huh?"
Tilting his head as if saying nice comeback sugar he shut his mouth up but not before saying" I think I've seen you before. "
"Huh, such a clichéd line." And turned her face to the magazine she was reading and flicked her gaze on his face.
Shaggy and soft, dense looking blonde hair , masculine jaw, a crooked nose, a scar behind his left ear and very dense looking emerald eyes which crinkled as if smirking at…..her ! Turning her face away and praying for the heat that crept from her neck to her already tomato red cheeks, she cleared her throat, thankful that he didn't speak.
"But really, I think I saw you somewhere."
Shrugging Summer said "Maybe."
And silence took over both of them. But the surprise didn't stop popping even when the plane landed and Summer saw her brother Jacob who scooped her up as he did and an amused blonde pig trailing behind her to be back slapping her brother who happened to be his colleague and best friend.
After that when Summer was recommended at the forensic lab she was always paired up with Ryan Spade (the blonde pig) and she didn't even realise when they grew closer and they become friends, from friends they became close friends and from close friends, they became lovers when they first kissed under the mistletoe.
The passion, the heat they shared engulfed them and brought them to another level of their relationship when they married in the presence of everyone witnessing the most beautiful day of their life. Stepping out from her shower she couldn't help but feel the void feeling from rising up her throat and tears welling in her eyes when she took a walk down the memory lane and visioning her separation with Ryan.
"And me?"
"I have to go." She couldn't help the tears tearing her chest. Eyes red and watery, she sat on the floor with her back against the wooden table for support, knees close to the chest.
Instantly she sensed a hand on her cheeks. Without bothering to open her eyes she fell in his arms. "Don't go, please. Don't leave me." She pleaded to him.
"Okay I'll not go, I'll refuse." Though he knew he couldn't and she wouldn't permit him to turn his head away from his duties.
He took her again in his arms and began to rock her. Her heart was pondering at the base of her heart at the thought of Ryan leaving her to save lives on the border.
But when she thought that was his job. How could she restrict him and at that precise moment she took the harsh decision of letting him go, letting him go to save lives even if he died in this process of playing the role of a brave soldier. More tears fell when she muttered those words.
" I let you go, only if you promise to come back safe to me."
"Take care Sum."
"Just be yourself Ry. Don't try to be a hero. Love you. "
Summer said tears spilling down her face. Grief swelled inside her when Ryan slid his necklace around her neck.
"Stay away from perils, because this time I won't be there to save you."
That statement sent her over the reality that the next moment he'll be gone and couldn't help but rest her head against his chest. "Shh, stop crying and be safe."
With that he lowered his lips to hers, gently moving, relishing the mesmerised taste of hers and taking that taste with her to fight to come back to her.
"Love you, sugar." And hugged her like it was the last time. Summer couldn't help but cling to him and his hand holding hers as he went leaving only the fingertips to meet, tossing his bag on his shoulder as one of his soldier friend slapped him on the back and turning his head to have a last glimpse of her, leaving her incomplete of something from inside.
Her stance broke when she heard Maggie, her maid switching on the vacuum cleaner.
"I'm going Maggie"
Summer informed her maid and left the house and got in the car waiting for her. Getting in her thoughts she tuned out the excited voice of Natalie her best friend and sister-in-law who had the guts to marry Jacob.
It was overwhelming to see that life always offers things which we so do not expect to happen to us and we feel ourselves swimming in the ecstasy but when we do want life to go as per our wish which do not happen we feel life is so unfair, cruel and tyrannical.
The same was happening with her but unlike other people she chose to not blame anyone but let life takes its course and hoped one day she would be swimming in ecstasy again though the hope quotient was soon coming to an end and she was thriving to see him, in real, and touch him, and hold onto him as if he was the last resort to life existing on earth. Little did she know that that life was about to surprise her again.
After leaving the airport where Jacob was expecting him eagerly, he couldn't help but think about his black haired, blue eyed … sugar when he saw the resemblance kicking sense into him hoping she was fine and he was feeling proud of soon becoming uncle seeing as Natalie was going to be expecting soon and planning a surprise for his wife as Jacob drove him to work where they would be regenerate some life in her sister who looked like a walking dead body with no life in her.
Reaching the laboratory she noticed the gloomy looks her co-workers sent her those gloomy and darkened expressions which made her teetered across the room.
Not daring to say what happened Jacob pointed towards Ryan's cabin. Fear blew through her like a vicious storm when she saw the panicked gleam in his eyes. As she approached the cabin she saw the acquainted figure of someone she knew too well to be mistaken as someone else, but the fear that she was perhaps having hallucinations was stronger than other feelings.
Nearing the cabin her heart couldn't bear the sudden happiness of seeing him leaning against the desk like it was the most common thing for him. The same blonde hair, the same golden eyes alive with genuine happiness, and his charming smile which most sent women off the floor- including her which she wouldn't reveal to have his ego bigger than the size of his head.
Seeing Summer coming towards him made feel like he was seeing her after many eons later and couldn't help but feel guilty when his gaze fell upon her blue eyes where he often found himself lost in the blue orbs and when he saw her figure which had become more thinner and bags under her eyes and her hair which his fingers found its ways threading through unwillingly as she approached and scooping her in his arms, spinning her before putting her on her feet meticulously.
"God Sam, I promise I'll never leave you again. No way."
"Promise?"
"Promise for eternities."
And he lowered his head to meet her soft lips which have been waiting for his. Moving his hands over hips, his tongue melding with hers, she could feel the ripe passion and his hand tightening around her waist pulling her closer till there is no distance between them.
Gasping for air he leaned his forehead against hers, brushing his knuckles over her snowy white cheek and couldn't help but laugh when Jacob proceeded to kiss Natalie who started to protest, but eventually he did and earned a slap from her.
Laughing slightly Summer reached for his jacket and fingering it slightly she said,
"Isn't it the same jacket that I threw outside the cab when we met in Paris?"
"Yes ….. Sugar."
Hearing the cheerful voices of audience she couldn't help but concealed her face in the crook of Ryan neck and they proceeded to go home. Their home sweet home.
