"Do you even have the slightest clue as to where we are?" I asked Hunter.
"No, but we'll get out," he said cockily.
"With you being the 'leader' we'll never get out," Amber piped up.
"Why can't we use the flashlights? We are in the middle of a corn maze. At midnight!" I yelled.
"I didn't know you were that scared," Hunter said, raising an eyebrow.
I could tell that he was smiling.
"Aww, leave Savannah alone, would ya?" I heard Ryan say.
"Come on you guys. Carly, Mason, and the rest of them are probably already through the maze. We would probably already be through if Hunter would just let us use the flashlights!" I said, raising my voice. I was getting tired of all his nonsense. I went ahead of the group, except for Hunter and Gabriella.
"It's okay, Savannah," Hunter soothed.
"Forget it. Let's go through the maze, as blind as a bat," I said cheerily. I turned around to see my friends. They weren't there. I looked forward to where Hunter and Gabriella had been. Gone.
"Guys? Guys!" I yelled. Nothing. "I'm gonna keep going, so come out now, unless you wanna lose me!" I yelled louder. Nothing.
I just kept walking forward. They'll come out eventually.
"RAH!" Ryan jumped up behind me.
"Very funny, now lets go." I said dully. I don't get scared easily.
I saw Amber, Hunter, Gabriella, and Cody come out behind
Ryan. I didn't say anything, but kept walking. The maze was getting tedious, and the thought of all the candy apples and apple cider doughnuts back at the beginning was making me sick. I wanted food, really bad.
"Cody," I groaned.
"Let me see the popcorn," I ordered.
"Why not?" I asked.
"I ate it all," he mumbled.
"Here, Savannah." Gabby handed me a small bag of Cheetos.
"Thanks." I took the Cheetos. I love them.
We wandered around for about an hour. I kept checking my phone for the time, which seemed to speed up as we roamed around.
"Hunter, stop," Amber said.
"You don't know where you're going. Someone else should take lead," Amber said.
"Fine, you do it." Hunter gave her the flag that we're supposed to hold up if we're lost.
"No!" she screeched.
"Then who? That's what I thought," Hunter smirked.
"Savannah," Amber suggested.
"Here's the flag, Fearless." Hunter wouldn't look at me.
"Why me? And, we should actually start looking for patterns and try and estimate how far into the maze we are," I said.
"You're pretty smart for a blonde," Hunter said.
"Wish I could say the same for you." I sighed and took the flag.
His hair is dirty blonde, but mine is really blonde. For the record, Amber's is brown, Cody's is light brown, Ryan's is, like, black, and so is Gabby's. Mason has brown hair, Carly is a redhead, Jessa has blonde hair, and Bret has light brown. Now I've gone through a chart of all my friends in the corn maze's names. Ugh. Carly's group is probably already out of here. I started walking. I could hear music coming from the end of the maze, so I knew that we were getting closer.
"Follow the music," Ryan said.
"No duh," Gabby added.
The music sounded like a phone. I felt like I was going deeper into the maze.
"You guys, we shouldn't follow the music," I said.
"Why?" Hunter asked.
"Because," I whispered. "It sounds like a phone speaker, and I know that we're going deeper into the maze."
"You are so paranoid." Hunter rolled his eyes.
"I am not! I am just extremely well educated in the things that could go catastrophically wrong!" I said louder.
"Are you afraid?" he teased. I'm not afraid—I just know it's better off going the other way. I didn't tell him, though. Why bother?
I just pushed through my friends and started going the other way.
