Chapter 60: A Special Thanks

Well, here it is! It took years to complete this novel, but I finally found the time and gave all of you the ending you deserved! I unfortunately can't give you all specific shout-outs, but I will give each and every one of my readers a huge thank-you for sticking by my side and reading my novel. Thank you for your patience and kindness during this crazy time. And, like always, a special thanks goes to those of you who reviewed, followed, and favorited my work. I wouldn't be writing without each and every one of you! :]

Curious? Here are some fun facts about the novel "How to Catch a Killer"!

Fun Facts!

~ Believe it or not, all three of my novels ("Forgive Me Before You Go", "I'm in Love With a Professional Heartbreaker: How Adam Met Eve", and "How to Catch a Killer") all have final chapter counts that end in the number nine. As most of you know, I despise the number nine. Due to this strange turn of events, I write these thank-you chapters so I can end the novels with a chapter count that's nine free!

~ "How to Catch a Killer" is exactly 400 pages long with 59 chapters. This novel is the shortest one I've written to date.

~ "How to Catch a Killer" was started on June 13th, 2011. I finished it on June 18th, 2015. My first two novels took a little over a year each to write. This novel took four years to write thanks to a job, college, a serious injury, and an engagement.

~ The picture that accompanies this novel on Fictionpress is one that I made. The picture itself shows branches of ivy leaves hanging over a wall. You know by this point why I picked ivy leaves.

~ For those of you that paid close attention, you'll notice that I spelled the character James Diviano's last name two different ways throughout this novel. It started off being spelled "Deviano", and switched to "Diviano" later in the novel. I didn't catch this mistake right away, but I let it go just to see if anyone else would catch it.

~ I originally was going to make Aubrey and Brett work at Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch. Due to my love for keeping things as close to reality as possible, I switched to making Aubrey work at American Eagle, because the real mall in Colorado Springs doesn't have an Abercrombie and Fitch store in it.

~ All of the places in this novel are real. Colorado Springs really does have an apartment complex on its outskirts, the forest where Aubrey walks is a real forest in the area, and there is a Galveston Island in Texas. I'm very thorough with my research.

~ I mention at the beginning of the full summary of this novel that Aubrey sets the school's mascot on fire, but I don't mention it until the very end of the novel.

~ I have an interest in Dissociative Identity Disorder. I've been wanting to put a character with the disorder in one of my novels since I created the outline for my first novel, "Forgive Me Before You Go".

~ Art and Helena weren't in my original outline, as most of you know by now. Actually, in my original outline, the only main characters were Dave, Aubrey, and Brett. Dave didn't have friends, and there was no Ligue de Lierre.

~ Speaking of the Ligue de Lierre, for those of you who don't know, "Ligue de Lierre" is French for "The Ivy League". I obviously did that as a joke, and because of Frank Ivy.

~ Gary and Dave were originally two separate characters. Dave didn't have a last name until I decided to make them the same character. When I decided to do that, I decided to make Gary's name an anagram for Dave's because I'm sneaky like that!

~ This novel mentions roughly ten songs, both with and without lyrics. That's the most music I've ever used in a novel.

~ Art has a soft spot for the Goo Goo Dolls. I have the same soft spot. In fact, their song "Come to Me" is the song my fiancée and I picked for our first dance together at our wedding.

~ Most of you know this by now, but for those of you who don't, Adam Parker and Joey Devinsky from "I'm in Love With a Professional Heartbreaker" make an appearance in this novel. They're both mentioned and physically appear. They appear in the chapter when Brett destroys Hot Topic.

~ The only reason I created Ronny and Dana was due to Art. I wanted his parents to be involved somehow, and that flourished into the idea of the Ligue de Lierre.

~ The song Art uses for his phone's ringtone is called "Knife Blood Nightmare Master" by the band Aiden. The song is about a woman being killed by someone she was supposed to trust. Sounds eerily similar to Holly's relationship with Art, doesn't it?

~ Holly's character design is based on Eve Mayfield from "I'm in Love With a Professional Heartbreaker". For those of you who have read my novels, you probably picked up on that.

Well, that's it! I would once again like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to read this novel. You will never know how much I truly appreciate this.

I don't know when I'll start my next project, but I hope that it will be soon! You can keep an eye on my profile for updates if you're curious about what's coming next.

Once again, thank you all. This has been a journey that I will never forget.

With Love,
