(A fanfiction of Blessed Light Awakening, based on the movie, Hang Over 2)
Ugh. What happened last night?
When Mary woke up the first thing she noticed was that she had a horrible head ache and when she rolled over to escape the heat coming from the sun through the window above her bed, she soon found out there was nothing left to roll into and she fell painfully to the hard floor.
"Son of a b*" she hurt in too many places to count adding to her pounding head.
Groaning, the 18 year old young woman started to get up whilst untangling the sheets wrapped around her from torso to feet. But when her emerald green eyes landed on the thin silky cream material, she realized she didn't own anything so expensive looking and she's never seen these sheets from her roommate.
When she looked around, the view made her forget about the mysterious blanket completely. She was in a huge cozy looking room, the floor length beige curtains closed completely from her left, making her wonder if it was night or day and a king sized bed was to her right where there was a huge lump underneath the aquamarine covers.
A horrifying thought crossed her mind as she realized she had just been in that bed and she couldn't remember a single thing. Her emerald eyes quickly looked down at herself and a wave of relief followed, she was wearing a hot pink spaghetti top though a bit revealing was familiar. It could be worst, she could be wearing a shirt too sizes too large or even nothing.
The relief was short lived however for when she finally untangled the sheets from her being, she hastily put them back over her legs.
"Where the hell are my pants?" she whispered to the floor, a sinking feeling coming from her stomach. She was still wearing her underwear which was actually quite good but the audacity of someone actually removing her lower articles of clothing from her person made her shudder.
And she bet that person on the bed knew just what the hell happened to her last night.
She stood up, not minding her semi nudity and climbed onto it, grabbing the end of the covers and pulling them up with all her might.
The tousled hair of black momentarily stunned the red headed girl, and Uriel gave a little groan before turning up to look at her through squinted eyes.
"Good morning little sister. Is something wrong?" he asked, his voice rough with sleep as he wiped his eyes and sat up. She was too surprised to come up with a reply from what she saw.
Uriel wondered why his chest hurt slightly as if it was raw and when he looked down to inspect what was causing the discomfort, he realized he had no shirt on and there was a swirling mass of ink imprinted on his chest.
His eyes widened and he gently ran a hand over the black skin, making sure his eyes were not deceiving him or if the image was due to his dizziness.
The skin was smooth without any second coating to reveal it was just marker or a sticker. This conclusion made him panic and he jumped out of bed, sprinting straight for the bathroom.
Mary heard Uriel's half shocked gasp and half shriek as he entered the door across the bed, she was still standing there with the sheets in her hands when another figure from the floor - one she didn't notice was there until he moved - suddenly sat up in one quick motion. For a moment she thought it was Sean, her college classmate and friend, but she was quick to change that thought.
"Ugh. No good, son of a damned mother f*" Seiran grumbled angrily, holding his head with his hand before ruffling his already messy gray hair and looking up at her.
His eyes were questioning as he eyed her bare legs for no more than 2 seconds before going up to her face, his expression was polite interest, asking without words why she was standing there with the bed sheets in hand, no pants, and a shell shocked expression on her face, courtesy of her big brother's new body decoration.
"Do you remember what happened last night?" she blurted out without thinking suddenly wondering if Seiran and Uriel were there then who else were? Michael? Lily? Lemuel?
Seiran thought for a moment, realizing he too did not remember much of yesterday. The last thing was of Damon, his senior, and Sean, his annoying twin, pulling him to dance in some club he couldn't remember but he knew there were only 7 of them and Mary was not with them. The rest goes foggy after that.
The echo of the shower running reached his ears and he knew whoever was in there was also the one who screamed but he thought no more of it, looking around his surroundings for a clue of where they were. If this was another of his brother's messed up games then he was screwed.
First, phone. He got up to his feet to search just for that.
Meanwhile, Mary got out of bed and started searching for pants whilst searching her mind for any recollection of last night.
She remembered that her roommate and best friend, Lily, was there and maybe Ellie.
She inwardly cringed at the thought of her senior. Damon seemed to have been with them and wherever he was, Nathan and Aaron were too. She knew her 2 seniors and Lily's older brother were inseparable after all. That includes Sean since they're with Seiran. What about Michael? Was he with them? And the rest?
She closed the closet door with frustration, holding a pair of ugly blue pajama pants, the matching top being left on the drawer which was virtually empty aside from some towels. Mary looked back at the clothing and thought it was better than nothing before slipping it on. As expected, it was way too big and the ends needed to be rolled up so she wouldn't trip.
Seiran got back to his feet after kneeling down to look underneath the bed. His phone was nowhere in sight and his pockets were all empty. No wallet, no keys, no nothing. He cursed, going out of the door to continue his search but the sight of the next room made him stop.
Uriel got out of the bathroom, giving up on scrubbing the horrible blemise off his person. He'd have to contact his doctor and ask about tatoo removal or maybe even Raphael. As he wiped his hair with a fluffy white towel, he noticed Seiran and Mary by an open door, the former stepping out of the room.
He walked to them, curious; inwardly thankful his sister was finally wearing pants and looked beyond into what looked like a hurricane had gone through it.
Empty bottles of beer were scattered all over the floor, pillows from the couch tossed around and some shredded, sending white feathers everywhere, random food stuffs were almost in every surface and furniture were misplaced or upturned. It was a complete mess, and Uriel pitied the cleaners who were going to come and find the place in such total disarray.
The first person he saw in the mess was Sean and he was sure it was since he was lying face first in a large pile of pink icing, the remains of what should have been a very large cake. Seiran walked over to the unconscious young man, lifted him by the collar and slapped him hard against the cheek.
Mary winced, almost as if she was the one slapped but it proved to have done the job and woke him up, falling to the floor and crying while holding his cheek.
"Ran-Ran, you meanie! Why did you slap me?!" he sobbed, bawling a fuss on the floor even as he was covered from waist to hair in cake and semi dried icing.
"Save the drama. I want to know what happened last night" he crossed his arms
Sean pouted, sitting up and looking away from him, "How should I know. I don't remember much"
When he looked up though he finally noticed Mary and Uriel standing there, his face immediately split into a smile. He got up, running towards the girl to hug her but Uriel quickly stepped in his way.
"You're covered in icing, Sean. I think it's best to wash up first while we wake up the others" the tall dark haired man said and Sean pouted again.
Mary noticed what he said though, "Which others?" her eyes roamed around the room and she saw an arm stretching up from behind the couch.
She made a beeline for it, stepping over random bits of food and a broken lamp. Her heart soared knowing who the dark blue sleeve belonged to but when she made it behind the couch, instead of Michael, Sealtiel was lying on a large pillow and had his arms through the jacket she was sure was her boyfriend's.
She bent down and prodded her sleeping classmate awake, his head facing away from her.
When he jolted into consciousness, and turned to faced her, her mind was already running with questions on where Michael could be. Those thoughts were pulled on hault however when she saw - like Uriel - Sealtiel had made some very drastic additions to himself.
"Hmm... What's wrong Mary?" he mumbled sleepily but the moment he spoke the man noticed there was something on his lip and in his mouth, the latter seemed to be buried into his tongue. His eyes widened and he gasped whilst covering his mouth, but that was all Mary needed to find that there was something that glinted inside, more specifically, that something was metal as well as the round ring around his lower lip.
His face looked astounded and panicked, "Wha-What happened to me?" it sounded as if he was talking with his mouth full, add to the fact he still had it covered with his hand.
Mary only shook her head, feeling pity for the guy. Aside from waking up pantsless, there was nothing terrible that happened to her like getting tatooed or procuring piercings though she hoped she wasn't about to make any more frightening discoveries.
Mary helped him up and they came back to the the 2 who were standing around something. Sean had probably gone for a bath, was Mary's thought.
"Do you two have your cellphones with you?" Uriel asked after they got back, sparing only a glance at the brunette who was still covering his mouth.
She shook her head and randomly looked around as if it was going to magically pop out of nowhere. Sealtiel however had reached into the jacket pocket and pulled out Michael's phone but before she could inquire on why it was there - even though it was obvious since that was his jacket - she bent over and picked up the small piece of pink paper that fell out when Sealtiel extracted the device.
Meet me in your room at 8. ~Mary
HOLY MOTHER OF F-!
"What are you holding there?" her body reacted automatically, hiding the offending object behind her back as she looked up at her big brother.
"Huh? Nothing" she said a bit too quickly in a tone that was a bit too high, but before Uriel could question her further, Seiran suddenly turned back to them, a familiar yellow phone with candy stickers in his hands.
"Aaron's not answering his phone and Damon's out of reach. I've tried Lyon and Lemuel but they're not answering either. Nathan's probably still asleep somewhere so there's no point calling him" he explained while staring at the screen and fiddling around with said phone.
"I'll try calling Michael and the rest then" Uriel took Michael's phone and dialled before placing it against his ear. It was answered on the 2nd ring.
"Good morning, Michael. I thought you wouldn't be able to get up so early considering last night" Jhudiel joked from the other side of the line. It boosts Uriel's hopes that they could finally shed some light into their dilemma.
"This' Uriel speaking. And I need to ask you a few questions about that" the 3 people around him looked hopeful.
"Uriel? Alright then but I wouldn't be able to tell you much, I had to go home around 7 remember? Had to attend a function with my wife"
"At the moment, no I don't. That's what I've called to ask you, can you tell us what happened before you left?"
His co worker paused over the line in thought as Uriel went and put the phone in speaker mode.
"Well since it was Michael's birthday celebration yesterday, we went out to La Teresita's in North Beach, then we went to a bar nearby called Kalelz at around 6 but I left at around 7 so I'm not sure what happened after. So what did happen, Uriel? Why are you using Michael's phone?" he asked, curiosity dripping from his tone. Mary wished they could answer him but right now they didn't have the slightest idea.
"As of this moment, I don't think I'll be able to answer your question. We do not have a definite idea what happened after you left but right now, I'm with Mary, Sealtiel, Sean, and Seiran in Rockwell Hotel" he said rubbing the side of his forehead as if to get rid of an impending head ache.
"Rockwell? But that's at the city border? How did you guys get there? Do you need any help?" his voice immediately sounded worried.
"We'll tell you if we need any help. Though are you sure we were all there last night while at the bar?"
"Yeah. Me, You, Michael, Mary, Sealtiel, Barachiel, Lily, Raphael, Gabriel, and Abby. You guys were all still together before I left"
"Alright then. Thank you Jhudiel"
"Good luck guys" were his parting words before the line died.
"That's not much to go by in finding out what happened" Sealtiel commented sadly.
"How did you know the name of the hotel, big brother?" Mary asked.
"The logo was sewn onto the bathroom towels and I've heard of this place from my colleagues" answered Uriel whilst Sean who appeared behind him suddenly smiled at them, "I think I remember the place Jhud was talking about"
All eyes immediately turned to him, "La Teresita's?"
"Nope. Kalelz. It's the bar we went to after going to Club Push in Agnus Avenue. I think we were celebrating something" he said excitedly.
"So we could've met you guys there after Jhudiel left" Seiran said, still looking through Sean's phone.
"Who were with you then?"
"Ahm... There was Me, Ran-ran, King Luc, Aa, Natie, Mon-mon..." his brows knit together as he closed his eyes, "I think Lemmy, and Lion were there too but I'm not sure"
"So you were all together as well though none of them are answering our calls now"
"Do you think something happened to them?" there was a note of worry in her tone.
"I hope not, but we're going to find out soon enough" Uriel said, his voice filled with determination, "For now, let's all start looking around for anything that'll give us clues of last night and I'll start calling the others for information"
Everyone nodded in unison and quickly spread out around the room. It was more difficult than expected since the room really was a mess; broken bottles, random food chunks like chips and spaghetti - which Sean still tried to eat by the way before Seiran had to whack him again, feathers littering the floor, tables, chairs, and couches upturned, the curtains hanging in ribbons and even the plasma TV was lying in a few hundreds of pieces on the carpetted floor. The kitchen also wasn't spared with the fridge all but raided and the plates and utensils splayed everywhere. At some point, Mary wondered if these were all their doing, that they had single handedly half destroyed an expensive suite in some classy hotel. She couldn't help but think what would've happened if they were in someone's house, she boiled at the thought if it was her's.
Afterwards, they regrouped and presented their findings; the first and most surprising was Lucifer's bank card, a digital camera but the screen was split in half and the batteries were dead much to their disappointment, and a crumpled call card of some club.
"So Lucifer was likely with us last night?"
"Seems to be, but he could've given the card to someone else while we were together"
"No way. The bastard's too much of a selfish ass. He'd never willingly give it up" Seiran denied rather angrily, noone commented.
After a few moments of silence, "So our only lead is this card" Uriel went and picked it up, reading the name on it, "Matryoshka. Gentleman's Night Club"
Though Mary begged to differ since the card itself was a hot pink.
Uriel turned the card over, "There's no address on it. Does anyone know where this place is?"
There was a chorus of shaken heads and negative answers.
"We'll have to give them a call then and ask of their location"
"I'll do it. Phone here's busted but there's still a few bars left in this one" Seiran took out Sean's phone to which the younger had moaned over but the other merely ignored him and snatched the card from Uriel's hand.
"While we're waiting we should get ourselves cleaned up before we leave. But I'm not sure there's much to wear around here" Uriel was talking about his lack of a shirt which displayed the new swirly mass of tribal-like ink on his chest (he didn't seem as angry about it now, was Mary's thought), Sean who was wearing nothing but a pair of shorts, and her with her tacky hotel pajamas.
But there seemed to be another concern as pointed out by Sealtiel, "But how do we get out of her, Uriel? How're we going to pay for the room and hide this mess from the cleaning staff?" despite it being said from the back of his hand, Uriel realized how serious that obstacle was.
"What if this was paid in full already?" Sean suggested.
"We're not sure of that, though we'll be long gone before the staff arrive here to find us out" Uriel answered, seeming lost in thought.
"Can't we just... walk out? I doubt they'll notice us leave"
"Not in a group but one by one, it would be possible"
"Is that really okay?" Sealtiel hesistated, looking guilty.
Uriel patted his shoudler, "We have no choice right now. What's important is finding out what just happened last night and if all our friends are alright"
"It's in Fowls. Fletcher Street, Grimore Avenue. The manager also seems to know us" Seiran said out loud, coming back to their brainstorming circle.
"What'd they say?"
"We came there around 12 midnight and she said we were around 10 people in our group"
"So it was almost all of us who came there but who?"
"I think we should stop standing around and start moving. We'll find out all we need to know once we get there" Mary said impatiently and they all nodded.
Getting out of the hotel was going simpler than expected. After Uriel took the hotel pajama top, ripping the sleeves to make it more unrecognizable and Sean took Michael's jacket, they decided to move in groups of two, Seiran and Sean would go first followed by Sealtiel, Mary, and Uriel. The first 2 had made it halfway out of the lobby without being apprehended, the hotel was big after all so it was pretty simple to blend in but the by the time it was the other group's turn, Uriel was unluckily recognized.
"Oh. Mister Hart, are you leaving already?" a woman in uniform had said from their front left as she walked towards them, Uriel was standing in between the 2 who froze instantly at her call.
"No. I am merely going out for a walk" he said smoothly, his expression politely blank.
"I see. Well take care then, sir" she said cheerily, too cheerily. Mary's sister senses immediately kicked in and as she looked up at the older girl, she could see her blushing slightly under the layers of glob on her face. Her anger flared and she wanted to b* slap the girl for flirting with her big brother. She didn't even seem to see them standing beside him. W*!
The woman started to turn away but Uriel suddenly stepped forward and placed a hand on her shoulder, "Wait a minute, miss. I know it's strange to ask this but how many were with me when I checked in last night?" his voice was deep and smooth, which normally she found cool but was now cursing it with all her being. The woman was starting to look entranced by him, if she wasn't already. Damn her brother's hotness!
"Ah... Ahmm..." she seemed to have been caught off guard, her blush now obviously peppering her cheeks, "T-there were ahm... 6 of you. A pair of twins, a man with a few piercings, a red headed guy, and his sister" she listed them down and Uriel, much to Mary' relief, finally stepped away from her.
"Thank you very much, miss. Please take care" he said turning away with them in tow. The woman barely managed to say yes, looking as if she was about to faint. Inwardly, Mary wished she fell and hit her head.
Outside the hotel, the sun was blazing down brightly onto the Earth as Calico City, the business district, was as busy as ever in any normal weekday. Sean and Seiran were already waiting for them under the shade of a cafe umbrella. Meanwhile, Mary was glaring up at her tall brother as they walked, wondering if she'd manage to burn a hole in his skull if she stared hard enough. When Uriel turned to her though, she merely looked away.
"What took you?" Seiran asked grumpily.
Uriel was the one to answer, "A receptionist recognized me but I managed to find out who were with us when we came here. Aside from the 5 of us, Raphael was likely with us as well"
"Raphael?" Sealtiel echoed.
Uriel nodded, "Raphael would be the only one of us with red hair, and his sister that she mentioned would be Mary"
"Excuse me?! Just because I have red hair doesn't mean I'm related to all the red headed people in the world. Stupid b*" she grumbled the last part, knowing how Uriel felt about cursing.
He seemed ready to reprimand her for her tone but quickly thought better of it, "We should head for the club now"
"How to? Unfortunately we're all broke here. We couldn't find our wallets in the room. And I'm already so hungry" Sean whined, holding his stomach and bending over as if in pain.
"We'll have time to eat after we go to that club. As for transport-" his speech was interrupted when someone's stomach gave a loud growl, and upon looking to its source, they found it was Sealtiel who had blushed in embarrassment.
He stuttered out an apology but Uriel had already said that they were going to have breakfast first before they move on. Sean had screamed in joy.
They walked across the street to get into a Mindy's fastfood restaurant, it was just after the breakfast rush so it was fairly empty and the other people paid them no mind. The group mostly ate in silence, all too hungry to concentrate on anything else though Uriel was giving Mary suspicious side long glances which she nonchalantly ignored whilst biting down on her burger.
It wasn't like she did anything wrong. Actually if it wasn't for her they wouldn't even be eating but she couldn't exactly blame her big brother if his darling sister suddenly knew the passcode of someone else's card. Especially if that someone else happened to be an arrogant, selfish bastard named Lucifer. But who could blame her? Some of her friends were criminals - albeit secretly - with one being a self proclaimed master thief, and her best friend happened to have loose morals, very loose morals.
She wasn't the type to take things without permission though, not the type to take anything from anyone. Period. But there were just days when rules needed to be broken, like today, as they dined on food that they practically stole.
Mary thought she should pay him - no matter how filthy rich he was! - back someday.
After a few more whines from Sean to order more food, they were finally back on the street and heading for the city underground. Right after Sean managed to talk Mary into buying him take-out.
Grimore Avenue, as compared to the dazzling business district's highways where the Rockwell Hotel stood, was as if a few rogue criminals escaped prison and made it their home. It was cramped, shady, and looked like the slums had decided to move in permanently. There was noise all around since they were passing by what seemed to be an improvised market but every now and then, she could hear yells and gunshots being fired in the distance over the sound of chattering people.
"We went here last night?" Sealtiel whispered, his hand still covering his mouth but loud enough to be heard by both Uriel and Mary, the red head standing in between them. She thought that even without covering his mouth, Sealtiel would look the least bit suspicious, if the men and women around her with the colorful piercings and large tatooes over their arms, face, and bodies, weren't an indication of the norm there.
Uriel merely nodded, keeping his head straight but his demeanour still reading cool.
They walked through to Fletcher Street without any incident, to Mary's inner relief, and despite the overall neigbourhood's appeal, they immediately spotted the club. Its Pink Neon Billboard proudly displaying the club's name as a few lips shaped lights glowed beside it, 'Matryoshka'.
Anticipation boiled inside her as they stepped through the already open entry way and they were blinded by flashing pink, green, white, and red lights. Mary rubbed her eyes to clear them but before she could even open them again to look around, another hand was suddenly covering them again.
She protested but Uriel's voice cut her off, "I think it's best if you wait outside, little sister" she could not hear what was wrong from the tone of his voice. She trusted her brother with her life but honestly, she just didn't like being bossed around.
"And why is that?!" she demanded trying to pull his hand away.
"Trust us in this one, Mary. We should-" Sealtiel quickly said from her right but a loud voice had suddenly interrupted him.
"PIGEON!" the voice was shrill but had a note where she knew it was not spoken by a woman. Before she knew it, her hands were being moved forward, her eyes being released in the process as she came face to face with a beautiful girl in a tight green sequined dress. One whose face could've been in the cover of some fashion magazine, but when she opened her mouth, the image quickly exploded. "I'm so glad you came back. Tell me, have you agreed with my offer?" his voice was identical to the one who'd first screamed and she was momentarily stunned.
"O-offer?" she stuttered out, noticing her hands still encased in his large smooth-skined ones. Subcounciously, she felt a pang of envy.
"Yes, I'd like to ask the same question, ma'am" Uriel interjected, standing beside them and blocking her view of the rest of the club.
When she... he? turned to him though, his eyes suddenly turned sultry, "Well. Hello there, handsome" her voice was suddenly slower, more feminine, as she dropped Mary's hands completely, "How bout I offer you something else? Say... A night in bed? I guarantee, you've had nothing like it before" he ran his graceful hand down Uriel's bare shoulder, and the tall raven haired man only looked at him. If not for his unwavering poker face, others would've seen his nonchalance towards her words, but Sealtiel could see right through him.
Uriel had frozen up, staying nonchalant by mere willpower. The brown haired man greatly admired his strength then. If it was him, he would've gone running.
"Ahm... What was it you wanted to offer to Mary?" he spoke hesistantly, wanting to end his friend's torture.
It had worked, for his eyes quickly shifted towards him then went to their female companion who had gone back to Earth when a pair of hands were placed over her shoulders.
"Yes, I almost forgot. So what do you think, pigeon? Will you come dance for us again?" he asked excitedly, the word completely bringing Mary back.
"Dance? I don't know what your talking about" dread started to pool in her stomach.
Her eyes started shining in glee, "Why last night of course! This place wouldn't have half as many customers if you weren't here last night"
"I'm sorry but I still don't know what your talking about" she crossed her arms, trying to convince her mind that this woman... man could be mistaken.
"Actually we don't remember what happened last night. We've gone here hoping to find out and also to find our friends" Sealtiel supplied helpfully.
He looked at him, his expression turning pitying, "You guys were that stoned, huh? I thought so considering the mess you people made. Even brought the cops down here when you started causing a riot" she turned away from them, missing the mix of shocked, and horrified expressions on their faces. Uriel coming back to himself after hearing his words.
"A riot?"
"You bet. T'was kinda fun actually, big scenes like that don't happen here often" she walked through the club towards the bar. And Mary would've been a little awkward at seeing the whole dim lit room with tables with tall poles on them and the large stage towards the front, not too mention the multiple numbers of patrons and girls (or otherwise) wearing almost nothing but pieces of cloth tied together with rings. She focused on finding out about what he said first.
The three followed him to the bar, walking pass tables and scenes that would give Michael a heart attack if he found she was standing in eye shot. Uriel was doing no better though, he had half a mind on carrying his sister and taking her out of there as fast as possible.
"Leslie!" the person with them called out and one of the girls sitting on one of the stool looked back at them, where they noticed she was arm in arm with Sean as if her life depended on it. The others chose not to comment.
"Hey boss! 'Sup?" she tweeted. She was definitely female and definitely not the type of people Sean hanged around with, not that Mary would want to know anyway.
"Still got the video from last night?"
"Sure do. Wait one sec'. Wait for me too, Seankins" she gave him a big fat kiss on the cheek then scurried off in stiletto heels. When she was gone, Sean immediately stood up and in the next second, was hugging Mary around the waist with teary eyes.
"Save me Mary! That girl said she was going to give me chinese take out but all she's been doing is harrasing me" he buried his head on her tanktop. Though at a glance at where he'd been sitting, she could see a pile of white boxes stacked half hazardly on the counter. She patted his head awkwardly and not a minute later, Seiran suddenly appeared and pulled him away from her.
"Shut up! And stop crying!" this only served to make him cry louder which was probably heard by Leslie as she came jogging up to them and went to rescue Sean from his older brother, handing her phone to the man with them in the process.
"This was taken last night. It was so majestic, I almost wanted to post it on the internet. It would've been a sensation" he said, giggling a very girly giggle as after a few clicks, they suddenly heard voices...
Strip! Strip! Strip!
... and cheering.
You think you can handle me, boys?
And apparently she was at the center of it. Oh. My. God.
Afterwards, Uriel had calmly asked for them to delete the video, making the club owner, Ms. Mystique as he introduced himself, pout but he quietly complied. Despite protest about watching the video, Seiran suggested that they might be able to find out who else was with them, though Uriel had strongly disagreed, and that was that. They asked Ms. Mystique and Leslie if they could describe who were with them but she said she didn't see them all clearly, and Leslie had only eyes for Sean last night. She did say though that a black haired man forced her to get down the stage, much to the protest of those watching; this particular comment also made Sealtiel realize they needed to leave before someone exploded and quickly. So back under the bright sun, they found out virtually nothing.
It was during their small phase of defeat did a new one open up, "Hey there. You're the guys from the riot" looking up they saw an middle aged man outside a tatoo shop a few paces from the club. He had kind eyes and looked nice, except for the fact that almost three fourth's of his visible skin was covered in tattoos and he had a spiked lip piercing.
"So you two how are the tattoos and piercings coming along? And wasn't someone else with you when you came here? What was his name? Raf? Rafe?" he said looking to Uriel and Sealtiel then turning away in thought.
"It's Raphael, sir. And were you the one who put the tattoo and piercings on us?" Uriel asked, calm despite the fact that this was the man that was the reason he had to go through the painful tattoo removal process sometime soon.
"Sure did. Paid me a hefty sum for it too" he smiled a big open mouthed smile, showing some of his missing teeth and Uriel momentarily closed his eyes, suddenly asking what the heck his crazy drunk self was thinking for getting an accursed permanent tattoo.
"Can you tell us what happened when we came here last night? We're trying to find our friends" Seiran said shortly, hands in pockets.
"Well if you're looking for your friends. They might be in the Police Station in Northbridge, some of them might've gotten caught last night" he explained, looking thoughtful again. He reminded them of a very old man.
"What about when you saw us? At about what time was it?" Sean asked, curious.
"It was about the time the police started arresting people, you 6 came to hide in my shop. It was around... 2 in the morning I think. Left about an hour later"
"Did we say anything while we were with you, sir?"
"Hm... Not much. You were all just pretty much drinking and laughing especially when you started screaming while getting your tongue pierced" he chuckled, and Sealtiel immediately covered his mouth, looking horrified, "Though I did remember someone saying something about a Barachiel. His house I think" he added.
"We could've been trying to meet with everyone there after we split up" Sean suggested.
"But we ended up in Rockwell instead. I wonder why" Sealtiel said thoughtfully, his hand back over his mouth again.
"Well anyway, why don't we head over to Barachiel's house then? Maybe everyone's just there waiting for us?"
"But he's not answering his phone and what about those caught by the police in Northbridge?"
Uriel's eyebrows knit, "We'll have to split up then"
One group would go to Barachiel's house and the other to Northbridge Police Station. Sean and Seiran were originally supposed to go together but Seiran had outright refused, so instead he switched places with Sealtiel so Sean and Sealtiel were going to Barachiel's house and Uriel, Seiran, and Mary would go to the station. The twins wouldn't know where Barachiel's house was in the first place, and Sean couldn't be trusted to stay calm in a Police Station so it was decided.
As a means of transportation, they withdrew from Lucifer's card again using an ATM machine, and would use cell phones to report back to each other. And finally they set off.
The ride to Northbridge was a quiet one, Seiran and Uriel both quite silent people and Mary was still feeling a bit lost in the dumps so she wasn't able to hear much from the old man at the tattoo parlor. She was still feeling ashamed and mortified at what she had done, though she wasn't able to stomach watching the video, her imagination was running away from her.
I'll just break up with Michael now! Probably disown myself for shaming Uriel! I should just...
"Don't think about it too much. Even if it did happen, none of us remembers it" Seiran suddenly said from beside her, his face towards the bus window but his eyes turned her way.
"Relax, little sister. I'm sure, in a few days, nobody would even remember we were there at all. For now, we should focus on finding the others and returning to our normal lives" Uriel offered his words of advice and she felt calmer about it after hearing them. She was still thinking of breaking up with Michael though.
But if he was the black haired man Ms. Mystique was talking about... she felt a warm feeling inside.
The original plan was to enter the building, ask for a list of people from the riot in Grimore, identify their friends, and bail them out. Simple. Though as with all simple plans, there would always be minor, make that major, setbacks.
"We'll have to wait for half an hour?!" Mary almost yelled as Uriel came back from the talking with the police officers. Most of them looked like rude asses that definitely needed a beating but she reined her anger in, for now.
"They'll have to wait for the approval of their supervisor and he's on break" he said as he sat down beside her on the uncomfortable plastic chairs of the waiting area. She glanced up at the wall clock and indeed it was already 12:30. Lunch time. She wanted to scream in frustration but held back. All they could do was wait now.
Seiran suddenly stood from beside her and walked over to Uriel, he whispered something to him that she couldn't hear but after a few moments, Uriel suddenly took out a small paper bag, where they placed the cash they took from Lucifer's account, gave it to Seiran, and he walked away. Mary looked to him for answers but Uriel wore an expression of grave annoyance so she decided to wait instead. A few minutes later, he came back with a piece of paper in hand.
"This' the list of people they caught last night. Check it out" he gave them the paper and right there in the upper middle was Lyon's name followed by Michael's.
"Bail costs a bit but I managed to get them out. We'll just have to wait for them to call us to fetch them" he added, handing the bag back to Uriel.
"What about their supervisor?" she asked though she knew it was pointless.
"They made an exception for us" Seiran grinned boyishly then plopped back down on his seat.
Walking down a narrow path, they were escorted to the back to meet the two. Mary's heart leaped and sank at having to see Michael. What if he remembered last night? What would he say if he knew his girlfriend had done a strip tease in front of a bunch of sleazy men? And Aaron, probably. Her insides her swirling and at the turn they saw not blonde and black hair but pink. Magenta.
"Hey there guys. What took you so long?" the-man-who-was-certainly-not-Michael said, smiling with his well known sly smile.
There was a pause then, "Y-You're not Michael!" Mary accused, half yelling in anger.
He chuckled nervously, "Whatdya mean I'm not Michael? Have you forgotten your own boyfriend, darling?" he walked forward and took her hand, giving her a look that dared her to say no, "C'mon Lyon. Let's go. See yah officers" he waved Lyon over who followed, his arms crossed. Then they walked off out of the station, the other 2 men choosing not to say a word lest they themselves get behind bars.
"Explain yourself, Damon! Why were you using Michael's name?! And where the hell is he?!" after they were a good distance away, Mary had grabbed him by the collar in a death grip. Uriel was worried they'd get reported for making so much noise.
"How should I know? I can't exactly use my real name when the cops have me" Damon protested, not the least bit bothered by her hold on him, though honestly Mary only reached about his shoulder, she couldn't lift him any higher even if she wanted to.
"Did you see him before you were caught? Who was he with?"
"I don't remember, probably all of you don't remember too. I woke up in that small cell with a bad head ache and some painful bruises. I wouldn't have cared whether someone had died" immediately everyone knew that was the wrong thing to say at the moment and a few seconds later, Mary was being held back by Uriel, trying to calm her down.
"You heartless ass! No good piece of rotten-! Let go of me dammit!"
Uriel had managed to settle her but she refused to even look at Damon afterwards, as they entered an unfamiliar outdoor cafe for some lunch, and they told each other what little each knew.
"It sounds familiar to me. I think Lucifer made some reservations there some time ago" Lyon commented, catching the attention of half at the table
"Really? But why?"
"It was his birthday; he might've planned something with someone there. If I knew any better"
"It was his birthday?" this was echoed by a few at the table, including Mary herself. But they immediately remembered that Jhudiel had also said that during their call. It must've slipped from their minds due to the confusion and frustration.
"Poor Lucifer. His own friends don't even know his birthday. Though I'd thought you guys would know since it is his twins' as well" his tone was mocking then turned slightly surprised.
"Twin? Michael? But... what day is it today?" Mary blurted out, looking around as if hoping a calendar was in the restaurant somewhere.
"September the 21st. It was yesterday, which is why we were all out with everyone" he supplied before taking a sip from his ice tea.
The realization hit Mary badly especially after she remembered the note she found in her pocket. Unconsciously, she patted the place where it was in her pajama pockets only to find that it wasn't there anymore. It must've fallen somewhere, was what she thought.
Unbeknownst to her distress, the other occupants continued talking as Damon continued to stare into space.
"But I'm hungry, Seal!" Sean whined as the duo walked through a pretty peaceful neighborhood.
"There's no restaurant here for a few more blocks. How bout we grab a bite to eat after we talk to Barachiel?" his companion offered but Sean was not to be deterred.
"But what if he's not home?"
"We'll never know unless we check"
"But I'm hungry noooow!" the gray haired man continued to whine, much to Sealtiel's annoyance. Out of politeness, he didn't let it show though. But he himself was tired too.
"Don't worry. We're almost there" and true to his word, on the next turn, they found a large house slightly bigger from all the others and seemed to be owned by some rich bachelor. Seemed, after all, Barachiel was happily married.
Clicking the buzzer, the two waited outside the steel gate, Sean still rubbing his stomach sadly as he was hunched up, his usual I'm-starving pose. A few minutes later, it opened to reveal the oldest among them and one of their professors, Barachiel.
"Oh. Hey there Sean, Sealtiel. What brings you here? Come in. We're just about to have some lunch" he escorted them in though Sealtiel did not miss the look of confusion that crossed Barachiel's face when he saw them, especially the questioning glance he gave to his new face piercings. Sean screamed in joy however.
But when they entered the dining room, the two were put into a halt upon seeing Barachiel's other guest which was none other than his ex, Elizabeth, who didn't even bother to look up when they entered.
Sealtiel's eyes immediately landed on Barachiel, a note of suspicion in them, "Care to explain, Barachiel?" he whispered with no difference in tone from his usual cheerful one. Lorina, Barachiel's wife, was close to their circle despite some minor age differences, and if one of them found out he was off to something questionable, well... it wouldn't end very well.
The tall man chuckled nervously then said he would answer him later.
The meal was in silence except for Sean asking for second helpings but when Elizabeth finally finished, pretending as if nobody was around her and leaving the dining room, it felt like a dark cloud had suddenly passed. "More please!"
Sealtiel realized it was now a good time to ask, he still needed to call the others to tell them that Barachiel was okay but he'd save the question about Elizabeth for later.
"Rach. We've come here to ask you some questions about last night. Do you remember anything about it?" Sealtiel started, putting down his utensils over his cleared plate.
"We actually don't remember anything and we woke up in Rockwell Hotel near the border" Sean supplied, his words discernable despite how much he was stuffing his mouth with food, "More please!"
His coal eyes widened from the information, "That's quite far. Though I don't remember much, I'll tell you all I know" he said and Sealtiel smiled to this.
Barachiel looked thoughtful for a moment, sitting back in his chair, "We'd decided to celebrate Michael's birthday by going to eat in North Beach where we had a simple dinner. We were all together I think, all seven of us including Mary, Lily, and Abby. Afterwards we went to a bar nearby and a good hour or so passed, Lucifer and his friends arrive" Sealtiel nodded to all this, hearing most of it from Jhudiel; except the part of Lucifer's group of course. So that was where they met them.
"We started drinking, heavily, and it goes foggy from there. The next thing I remember I was coming here to my house with Michael, Lemuel, and Aaron. They left for some reason I don't remember anymore unfortunately" he seemed disappointed by what little he could share.
"Why did you stay here?"
"Well..." he gave a side long glance to the pathway to the living room, the same path the woman went out off, "I'd actually found Elizabeth outside the gate. She looked like she'd been crying so I took her inside. I hadn't done anything wrong to her but she'd told me she came here since Lucifer had abandoned her"
"Was she with us last night?"
"I'm not sure. She must've met us somewhere since we were with Lucifer. I'm sorry that's all I could tell, my friend" he looked guilty but Sealtiel shook his head.
"You've been more than enough help, Barachiel. We now know where we met Lucifer and the rest last night" it wasn't really much to go by, but at least it was something.
"Who else are with you in searching for the others?"
"Uriel, Mary, and Seiran but I'm not sure who they've met in Northbridge Police Station"
"Police Station?"
Sealtiel chuckled nervously, "Unfortunately, we all went to a club somewhere in Fowls and caused a riot. That's also where I got these" he gestured to his metal accessories. With that he also remembered how awkward it was to eat with them, he should've asked that old man how to remove them.
His brows raised and his eyes widened but Barachiel merely nodded. Sean was now finished with his food, a pile of bowls and dishes in front of him.
On their way out, Sealtiel told them that it was alright to leave the search to them, but to always keep his line open in case they called. But Barachiel had told him, that he had lost his phone last night and said to call him on his emergency number.
Sealtiel dialed, "Guys, we've found Barachiel. Where should we meet up?"
"Alright, it seems they've found him safely in his house but no one else. He doesn't remember much either" Uriel said out loud, having just got off the phone.
"Where are we meeting them?" Mary asked, already on her feet.
"How bout we decide where we're going to search next? That way, we could meet there" Lyon suggested, more conversational than usual. Probably because Lemuel was nowhere to be found, was what most of them thought.
Uriel thought for a moment, "Kalelz. That was the place where Barachiel said we met the others. It'll be good to ask there and see what we find" he said and they all stood up to get moving
However, upon arriving at the said place...
"Everyone. Sorry we're..." Sealtiel's voice died away as he looked to where the others were staring at, only to find a blackened shop as if it had recently caught fire and been taken out. Looking up, at the green and blue sign now covered in charcoal, it read 'Kalelz'.
The group of 7 stood there for a few moments, looking at the blackened mess along with the other shops, many worriedly wondering if this had been their doing.
Damon looked forward with bored eyes, then turned to the male stranger standing beside him, "Do you know what exactly happened here?" Mary, who was standing just beside him, looked over with interest.
"Some rufians came there last night and burned the place down. Some say it's arson but really I think they were all just a bunch of troublemaking teenagers" the man huffed in irritation.
Troublemaking teenagers?!, Mary suddenly wanted to cave his face in. Though they had set fire to a good business. It still pissed her off either way.
"At about what time did it happen?" he asked on, his tone nonchalant, as if he was just another on looker.
"Around 10 or so in the evening. If I see even one hair of those bastards, I'd gut them a new one. This fire's completely ruining business for me. But... at least I wasn't the poor man who owned that place" Mary's eye twitched, her fist already balled tightly. Son of a, disrespectful, piece of-
"Right. Lucky" Damon commented dryly, before turning away and tugging Mary away with him, who hadn't noticed he was holding her hand. Her shocked gasp gained Uriel's attention, followed by the others. The man never suspected a thing.
"What was that for?!" the red head demanded as they sat at a Star Coffee a street away from Kalelz. Sean's mouth was already watering from all the pastries on the counter though Seiran was doing a good job in keeping him in line.
"We weren't getting anything from there. The place was burned down, the most we'll get from the owner was a knife through our stomachs" Damon answered matter-of-factly.
Uriel glared but acknowledged his point and so did the rest. They were at a dead end.
Until Uriel's phone suddenly rang, and when he looked at the caller ID, he was a bit surprised.
"Who is it?" Lyon asked, noticing his expression.
"I'm being called by Mary's number" he said, confusion lacing his words.
Mary was immediately turned to him, eyes wide, "My phone? But I lost it last night"
"Maybe the Kalelz's owner found it and is trying to find us" Seiran commented, his hand firmly placed on his brother's arm to keep him where he was. Sean however was struggling to free himself.
Uriel looked back at the phone, "There's only one way to find out" he clicked send, placing it against his ear, "Hello?"
"Oh? Uriel? I thought you wouldn't answer" said the one from the other side.
"Lily?"
The next second the phone was snatched from his hand, finding its way into Mary's, "Where the hell are you, you b*?! And why do you have my cell phone?!" she screamed against the device, earning a few looks from the people in the cafe. The ones on their table just stared.
There was a pause, "I'm at home. Duh. And Nathan must've found it, I saw it lying on the kitchen counter just now" she said, her tone cheery.
"And why are you with Nathan? He's at our house?"
"Yup. Called me last night to pick him up. Said you guys just left him there after we left"
"And who did leave?"
"Ahm... Me, Abby, and Gabriel, but Jhudiel left earlier than that. Is there something wrong? You sound stressed?"
"You have no idea. Is Nathan awake? Nevermind, can you wake him up? I need to talk to him"
"Are you crazy?! That'll take forever!" the other girl whined.
"I'm waiting, Platypus" for emphasis, she started tapping her nails on the table even though the girl couldn't see it.
"Ugh. Fine. You owe me" there was the sound of footsteps and Mary placed the phone down for a while.
"Nathan's with her?" Uriel asked for reconfirmation.
"Yeah. I'll ask him if he remembers anything before we left"
"It'll take a while before he wakes up though" Seiran commented, still holding a now crying Sean.
As if on cue, another voice started to speak through the phone, she immediately picked it up.
"What?" the voice was deeper and rough with sleep. Offhandedly, she realized it was the first time she's heard him speak in a long time, he was always asleep after all.
"What happened before we left?"
"I don't know"
His bluntness ticked her off, "What do you remember?"
"Remember what?"
"Just tell me. Dammit!"
"Leave me alone"
Damon quickly took the phone from her hand before she threw it somewhere, which she knew would've likely happened.
"Hey sloth. I need information" ... "That's cheap. Deal" a long silence, then he hung up, "He said we were planning to go to some club I know before we trashed the place. We were with everyone except Gabriel, Jhudiel, Abby, and Lily. Supposedly, Lucifer declared a huge drinking contest until most of us got completely drunk" he explained, looking around the table, "And if I was the one offering the club, it would probably be somewhere downtown"
"Like 'Matroyshka' in Fowls" Sealtiel blurted out, awed.
"That's one"
"So we were all in La Teresita at first, then we went to Kalelz. Jhudiel left and that's where you guys arrived, Lily, Abby, and Gabriel left, and we went to Matryoshka leaving Nathan behind. We caused a riot there where we got Damon and Lyon imprisoned and me, Mary, Sealtiel, Raphael, Sean, and Seiran were separated from Michael, Barachiel, and Lemuel" Uriel summarized, hand on chin and eyes on the table.
"We were supposed to go to Barachiel's house, Michael and the rest made it but we ended up in Rockwell" Sealtiel added.
"So now we're missing Aaron, Lucifer, Lemuel, Raphael, and Michael" Lyon listed down. Counting 5 with his fingers.
"And we have no more leads" Damon said bluntly which made Sealtiel sigh.
"Why don't we *munch munch* call *chew chew* them *swallow* again?" Sean suddenly said despite eating a large blueberry muffin and standing over the table, as if he'd just arrived. Probably went to buy those muffins, he was carrying 3 more.
"Talk first then eat, you wormhole!" Seiran half yelled, glaring at his twin angrily. He looked angrier at the fact he had let his guard down so Sean had managed to run off.
The gray haired man took one big gulp, "Why don't we call everyone again? I'm sure they're all awake by now" he looked down at his muffin, then turned thoughtful; "I forgot to buy drinks" he said to himself then scurried off to the counter, Seiran huffing in annoyance at his antics.
"We could give it a shot. Someone's bound to answer now compared to this morning" Mary seconded, taking the phone from Damon and dialing Michael's number, before she realized this was Michael's phone and immediately started over.
The next person she called answered on the next ring, "Who the hell are you?!" the grumpy voice from the other end said, his voice rough from sleep as with Nathan.
"Lemuel. It's Mary. Where are you?"
"Apartment" he paused then she heard the sudden ruffling of sheets, "Is that ass face with you?!" his tone was accusive and angry as she thought about who he meant, her eyes subconsciously landed to Lyon who looked back at her with a smirk on his face. The blonde hadn't even said a word when he answered the phone.
"Well. Well. Well. Has the foot stool missed the mighty king already?" Lyon said, loudly enough to be heard by her caller. His well-known arrogance showing its ugly head.
"I don't serve trash that was scraped from the gutter, you royal pain!" Mary had now taken the phone away from her ear, finding Lemuel's voice annoyingly loud.
Lyon had seemed unfazed, "Shame. Most people find it quite an honor"
"Complete idiots maybe. Who'd want to serve a self centered bastard like you. Oh, I'm sorry. That's an insult to all the bastards of the world" his tone feigned apologetic.
Lyon's confident demeanor faltered and he now openly glared at the phone in her hand, she thought he would make a move to grab it from her, "At least I'm not some short tempered son of a bitch!" his tone was close to a yell, close since they weren't attracting the attention of the cafe staff... yet, "You should be more like yours truly, at least you'd finally get a girlfriend"
"I don't take advice from people who consider themselves their own girlfriend"
"I'd make a fine sophisticated lady. You'd probably be the whore who sells for cheap drinks. Disgusting!"
Lemuel gave a sort of maniacal laugh; it freaked a few of the people on the table, "So how does it feel being with yourself at night. Tell me, do you-?" his taunting voice was cut off when Uriel immediately grabbed the device and ended the call. He had sensed that the conversation was going somewhere south.
"So he's alright it seems. That leaves Michael, Raphael, Lucifer and Aaron" Uriel announced in his usual formal tone, getting back onto topic. Everyone seemed to be getting themselves back together after the whole verbal fight, Lemuel's voice was loud enough to be heard by all the occupants of the table so they had followed the whole exchange.
Lyon was combing his hair back with his hand and Uriel was storing the device away when they noticed the waitress standing by their table. Her expression wasn't very pleased.
A minute later the group found themselves back onto the street, having just been kicked out for public disturbance. It didn't make her feel too happy though and she would've put up a fight if her brother hadn't dragged her away. She'd still thought of coming back for her when she could.
"Where now?" they started walking with no real destination, Seiran having brought the question up. Uriel merely answered that he was thinking.
Mary was in deep thought, also thinking about where they would go to find the others. No more clues or places left to visit, and no one still remembered anything.
It was when she looked up and saw a man passing by with a newspaper in his hand that she found their next clue.
"Uh, guys" everyone looked back at her inquiringly, for she stood at the very back with Damon, "I think I know where Raphael is"
"No way" Sealtiel breathed out, looking at the newspaper before them that they had just recently bought. The showbiz section had a colored photo of Raphael in it and he appeared to be protectively hugging a beautiful brunette as they were being photographed - or likely mobbed - by a group of cameramen and media.
The 5 friends were sitting under an umbrella of an outdoor restaurant, all looking over at the picture. Damon and Seiran sat boredly in another table.
"Any clues?" Seiran asked them, his voice a bit louder for they were a few inches away.
"Good Buy Hardware store" Uriel said.
Seiran raised an eyebrow and so did Damon, "A hardware store?"
"I don't think it's their real destination but that's the only significant thing that can be seen which can lead us to where they are" Lyon said, still looking over at the photo.
"The paparazzi is pretty crazy and their headline is even crazier. 'Is this the newest man for Jessica Times'?'" Sean read from the paper, "She's the actress from that horror movie right?" he looked to Mary and she nodded.
"A bombshell but her acting was bland" she said boredly.
"But what would the doctor be doing with an actress?" Damon said referring to Raphael's profession.
"I didn't know Raphael knew her"
"Maybe they just met last night"
"We'll find out when we find them"
"But how are we sure they're still there? It's already late afternoon"
"How do we find this store in the first place?"
"A directory?"
"I think that's a branch store. I know there's one in Maples, and in Lakeview"
"Let me see" Damon suddenly said, interrupting the brainstorming team, and placing his hand out for the paper. Sean handed it to him without a word.
He looked at the photo for a few minutes then said, "I know where this is"
"How are you sure it's in Creek Valley?" Mary asked Damon when they were on the bus heading there. It was closing in on sunset in the distance, the sky starting to turn orange.
"If Aaron was with Raphael when you guys got separated, I'm sure they went to a bar called Night Life. The three of us go there from time to time and I remember that there's a store like that across the street" he explained, looking out at the window with a dull expression.
"But could they be still there?" it was the main concern for this journey, people didn't really stay in bars, but they could probably get some clues.
Damon shrugged but said nothing. She looked out the window when he didn't reply and wondered if they'll be able to find the rest of them before the sun set.
Uriel was relieved to find the exact store they saw on the photograph as they walked along Yale Street. Creek Valley was close to Fowls and was considered as part of Downtown but it was still somewhat civilized. They were nearing the bar that Damon had said when they heard Mary half scream/half gasp from behind.
He noted to himself that he should keep a closer eye on her despite their numbers as he sped to her side.
"What is it? What's wrong?" Uriel asked in a rush, looking at her horrified expression, and when he turned to where she was looking to, he himself felt a cold sweat.
In a semi dark alley in between two buildings was a pile of boxes, and on those boxes was what appeared to be an unconscious Aaron.
Many were too afraid to move forward, assuming the worst until Sean walked forward and crouched by him.
"He's asleep" he announced happily and Mary gave a sigh of relief. Her heart was still beating quite hard though.
"Get up, old man" Damon called out - or more like ordered, as he stood over him and Sean was busy poking him with a stick
A few seconds later he stirred and sat up from the heap, his eyes unfocused, "What happened? Damn, my head" he grumbled to himself, holding the back of it with his hand. He was dirty and tired but he looked okay. Damon thought to himself that they've ended up in worst before.
"You okay Aaron?" Mary asked, her insides wanting to get out of there for the place stunk... badly.
"Rose? What are you guys doing here?" he got up in one smooth motion despite his size. He was a good 2 heads higher than her. His healthy condition only solidified in her mind when her best friend's brother called her by her nickname.
"That's what we should be asking you. Do you remember anything?" Seiran asked as they started walking out of the alley.
"Not much. And I feel like my head's going to split open. Maybe you can ask me another time" his voice was rough and his back was noticeably hunched over.
"No can do. We're trying to find the others so you'll have to tell us if you know anything that can help. Was Raphael with you last night?" Sean asked, standing on his other side.
It took him a moment to answer, "I think so, we went to Night Life maybe"
"Was Michael and Lucifer with you?" Mary asked, but Aaron only shook his head.
"What were you doing there anyway? Were you mugged?" Lyon was next to ask as they began to near said bar.
Aaron unconsciously began to check his pockets and managed to take out his phone and wallet, "I don't think so"
"Can I borrow that?" Seiran was already taking his phone and looking through it. The tall man didn't seem to mind
A few moments of fiddling later, "Found something. Check this out" he announced and everyone stopped to look at said phone. Secretly, Damon handed Aaron 2 aspirins which he immediately chugged down, wording out an 'I owe you'.
The photo was shot inside a car, Aaron was driving, and Barachiel had taken the shot right beside him since he was holding the phone in it. Michael and Lemuel were at the back, laughing hard at something as they seemed to be driving over the speed limit.
Mary's heart swam at the first she's seen her boyfriend for the whole day but it seemed like it was already a decade ago. She was starting to get more worried.
"Lucifer's not there" Uriel stated and everyone looked back at the picture and yes, Lucifer was most certainly not in the car.
"But he wasn't with us when we escaped the riot in Fowls" Sean pointed out.
"And he wasn't caught like we did" Lyon added.
"Could he have left earlier? He did leave Kalelz with all of us" Mary suggested.
"Maybe Elizabeth knows" Sealtiel suggested out of the blue making everyone turn to him.
"What does that b* have to do with anything?" Mary asked vehemently, arms crossed. Uriel had looked at her pointedly and she realized she had cursed in front of him… again. Sh*.
"Barachiel told me she was with him last. Let's give them a call and ask" he seemed to have ignored what she said, knowing the history between the two.
"Hello?" Elizabeth looked up from what she was watching on screen, hearing Barachiel's voice from the next room, "Uriel. Good to hear from you. How's the search?" ... "Elizabeth? Hold on" she felt panic as the man came into the living room.
"What do they want?" she asked dully.
"They want to talk to you" he handed the phone over and she took it albeit resentfully.
"So?"
"Elizabeth. It's Uriel-"
"I heard you already. What do you guys want?" she cut him off rudely, wanting nothing more than her solace back.
"Were you with Lucifer last night?" his tone was serious and allowed no mercy.
"So?" she had the gall to stand up to it though. He didn't scare her.
"Do you know where he is?"
"How should I know where that arrogant man is?"
"We're trying to find him. Where did you meet him?"
"In Matryoshka, we left together"
"What happened after?"
"He bi*ed out. Lost his card or something"
There was a few seconds of silence, "And then?"
"And then what?"
"What happened after?!" his voice was now holding barely concealed rage, his patience wearing thin.
"We separated! He promised me he'll take me to this fancy hotel but he just got up and left! I have no f*ing idea where he is! There? You happy?!" she clicked the phone shut, noticing Barachiel standing by the entry way.
Uriel took the phone away from his ear, looking at the device in his hand, "She hung up"
"What did she say?" Sealtiel asked, Mary preferred not to speak or she might curse the queen of b*iness again.
"She went with Lucifer when we were in Matryoshka but he left her afterwards. She didn't say where"
"Well that wasn't much help" Damon pointed out. They were at a dead end with him.
Then they suddenly heard slamming doors somewhere, towards the direction of the bar and when they looked there, they saw Raphael sprawled on the street, looking around wildly. When he spotted them though, he quickly got up and made a bee line for them, "Hide me"
The actress on the paper suddenly came out of the bar next along with a few people in black, she looked around down the street then stomped over to them. Her usually tame brunette hair, in total disarray.
"Did you see a man come by here wearing a grey coat?" she asked, her voice way too high to be normal and bordered on annoying.
"I saw him go that way" Lyon said pointing down the street, in the other direction.
"Thanks, love" she said before turning and running down the directions he pointed to with the men that came out the bar with her.
"Those boobs were fake" he said dully.
"You can't help but appreciate them though" Aaron commented, looking over to the running girl. He liked her tight one piece very much.
"I go for genuine beauty. It's classier and better fits someone like me" he brushed his hair back.
"Can we sing your praises later? We have a traumatized man here" Mary scolded the blonde as she looked back over Raphael, who was clutching Sealtiel for dear life. His face was a mix of intense fear as if he'd seen Hell and back.
The sun had finally set and they found themselves yet again in a restaurant having an early dinner. Aaron and Sean had immediately dug in but Raphael seemed to be uninterested in food as of yet. The owners seemed thrilled to be seating 9 people though.
"You should eat Rap. We can't have our doctor getting sick on us" Mary cooed, finding this extremely quiet Raphael very creepy.
He shook his head, "Later"
They could only look on in worry.
But suddenly Sean appeared right beside him on the head chair, carrying a large plate of food, "You shouldn't skip meals, you know. It's unhealthy" he smiled whimsically then suddenly took a spoon full of food and force fed them to Raphael.
To say a lot of them were shocked by this would be an understatement. Even Seiran forgot that he should be the one keeping his brother in line.
"Yes. Yes. Swallow it all down" he said, his tone cheerier than usual. It was quite frightening.
"Should we stop this?" Aaron whispered to Uriel who sat beside him.
"Let them. We'll step in if Raphael starts to choke" Uriel said stoically, sipping his soup.
After swallowing the last and particularly large amount of meat and fish, he glared daggers at the one who caused it, grabbing his collar in his fist, "You idiot! I could've died! I could've blocked my wind pipe and choked to death!" he yelled angrily but Sean merely continued to eat from the table, not the least bit bothered.
"But you were wasting food. It's not good to waste food. Sulking isn't going to solve all your problems, doc" Sean said lightly but his words were quite true and Raphael had understood this.
He released his grip on his collar, "If you get sent to my hospital again. I'm telling the nurses to ignore you" he said bitterly, getting back into his seat.
Sean merely smiled, commented on needing more sauce then dashed off to the counter.
"How do you feel Raphael?" Mary asked.
He managed a small smile for her, "I'm a little okay now-" he burped and covered his mouth in embarrassment, "A bit too full but okay"
"What were you doing there, Raphael? How'd you end up here with Aaron?" Uriel asked.
"Well... After we went to Rockwell. We called Barachiel and the others to come with us and when I went downstairs to fetch them, they wouldn't let me in again" he looked embarrassed about this but continued, many of the occupants of the table already listening in, "So we decided to wait somewhere but Michael and Lemuel decided to leave so Aaron took me to Night Life to drink some more" he paused, his face looking scared, "That's where I met Jessica. She was nice despite being a star but after a few more drinks, I lost track of Aaron and well... we were alone" he blushed and many came to the right conclusion on what happened next. Mary had trouble wrapping her mind around it.
"Afterwards, I found out she did drugs and she... offered them to me. As a doctor, I know how that ruins one's body but she forced me anyway and well..." his voice died away and Mary patted his back in a comforting gesture. There was a moment of silence as the occupants of the table digested this.
"Actually it doesn't sound that bad but..." Damon stood up, smiling his devil's smirk, "Wanna pay the woman a visit?"
"Oooh. Are we going to go on another riot?" Sean cheered excitedly.
"Sounds fun. I'm in" Aaron seconded, raising his hand.
"We could use some lovely fireworks" Lyon said thoughtfully.
"Should we call Lemuel?" Seiran asked.
The other members of the table could only stare as they seemed to be already planning for it, Raphael looking thunderstruck.
"T-that's unnecessary!" his voice was loud enough that it made them turn to him, "I appreciate your efforts but I think we shouldn't go there anymore"
Damon looked the most disappointed, "Are you sure? It'll be fun!" he said enthusiastically.
"You'll get revenge on the cheap sl* and we'd put on a grand performance" Lyon said, gesturing as if he was in some dance.
"Riots are great, Doc! You'll have an awesome time!" Sean said, already standing beside him and shaking him by the shoulders in glee.
By this point, the last three occupants of the table realized this wasn't some act of chivalry but just so they could cause some mayhem. Although they knew this was expected of them, it still gave Uriel a head ache. He was thankful Lucifer wasn't there or there'd be no stopping them.
"No one is causing a riot!"
When the table had significantly calmed down, Sean muttering words like 'Party Pooper'. They got back into discussions.
"So the only one's who're missing are Michael and Lucifer"
"We have no leads" 'again', she couldn't help but add in her mind, "How'll we find them?"
"Simple" Aaron suddenly interjected, "We don't"
Mary turned to him with wide eyes then glared, "And why is that?"
"We'll never find them if we scour the city. If Michael went after and Lucifer did as well, I think they maybe at home by now or at work" he explained, and it did make sense.
"But what if they're not? That they could be anywhere like how most of us did"
"Relax, Rose. We weren't sane then. I doubt Michael and Lucifer would've left if they were. Why don't you check their places out and see for yourself? As for me, I'm beat" Aaron said, getting up.
"Me too. I'm going home" Damon said, also getting onto his feet and stretching.
"It was a spectacular adventure. More so since I was there but now I need to catch my beauty sleep" Lyon said, smiling at them. She wanted to punch him.
"See you around guys! Me and Ran-ran will be heading home now" Sean said happily as Seiran went for the door.
In less than a few minutes they were already gone. Mary never felt more betrayed.
"I think you should rest as well, Raphael" Uriel said coolly making the last 3 stare at him.
"It's okay, I'm-" but the red head was cut off.
"You've had a rough day. It's better for you to go home and rest. You too Sealtiel"
"Eh? B-But-"
"You have school tomorrow. So you'll have to do something about those piercings before then" he said sternly and Sealtiel could only look at them sadly.
They left after wishing them a good luck and asking for them to call when they found the two.
"Why'd you make them all leave just like that? We haven't even found-"
And he cut somebody off, yet again, "It's late. Everyone's had a rough night and half of us have been running around through cities trying to find everyone" he stood up, "We should head home ourselves. I have work in the morning and so do you"
She had not moved from her seat at all, "But what about Michael?" she asked, feeling grief inside herself.
"I'll continue calling people that might've seen him. Now let's go little sister" he said without turning back and she had no choice but to follow him out into the street again, her fist balled tightly.
He suddenly patted her head as they walked, "Don't worry alright? I'm sure Michael is safe. He's tougher than most of us thinks" she looked at him and he smiled down at her, and partnered with his confident words she felt her worry ease a little.
She walked down the corridor of her apartment building, her shoulders sagging, and a gnawing head ache on its way to her temple.
When she looked at to her door however, she stopped dead in her tracks. For standing right in front of it was none other than one of the blackettes they've been trying to find.
"Mary!" he exclaimed upon seeing her and running towards her still form, "Are you okay, mine? Where have you been?" Michael continued on with his questioning, holding her on either side of her shoulders as she just stood there staring at him and how he had looked totally fine. Her annoyance of how clean he looked compared to how she felt like sh* after running around all day made her punch him in the face.
"I should be asking you the same question Michael! Where in HELL have YOU been? Do you know how long we were running around just to find you?! You were probably with Zarina, weren't you?! Too wrapped up in her slim arms to call your sh*ty girlfriend?" her voice raised which each word, her temper only rising instead of getting relieved. She was only venting was her immediate thought, but why was it only making it worst?
"That's it. I'm through with you! I-I want an annulment!" she immediately blushed scarlet, for her voice breaking and the fact that she realized how stupid and useless her accusations were in the first place. She felt like a complete idiot and now she just wanted to flee.
She speed walked past him, trying to get into her apartment as fast as possible without seeming like she was actually just running away. She hated it when her temper tantrums got the best of her sometimes, she especially hated it when she herself knew she wasn't making any sense!
Things happened quite quickly, one minute she was walking past him, the next she was surrounded by his cologne. The scent of rainwater and mint, White Wings, the one she'd planned on giving him as a birthday present.
"I'm sorry. I called your phone this morning but Lily had answered instead. I was worried and searched around for you but I found nothing. So I waited. I'm sorry if I'd made you worry, mine" he kissed the top of her head and she felt tears come to her eyes. She'd never say it but she'd missed him dearly. It might sound chessy, but it felt like forever for her. His warmth felt like sanity again.
"I feel nothing for Zarina and the girl from the elevator had been fired for getting involved with our Head's assistant" she smiled as he referenced the 2 girls she'd mentioned in her rant but if he followed that order... "And were not married yet, mine, but I don't mind starting tomorrow. Tonight can be our honeymoon" he whispered, his voice suddenly getting very low and she felt herself blush again, pushing away from him automatically but with his arms around her, she hadn't gotten that far and his lips were on hers before she could even voice a protest. But the morning after, she would realize she really had nothing to say.
Well... except that they were never going out drinking again. Hang overs were a killer.

"This highly inappropriate"
"Oh c'mon. You still helped after all. If you'd gone up there, this would've never been so perfect"
"We should do this again!"
"I want no part of it then"
"Spoil sport. If you don't help, your twin won't either"
"Just give him food. He'll do whatever you want"
"Again. Was this really necessary?"
"It's for their wedding video. Get over it. And remember everyone, if one word gets leaked to the others. We're screwed. So keep your mouths zipped"
"Shouldn't they have the right to know we were filming them all night?"
"I don't want to die!"
"But we have pictures!"
"Really? Let me see!"
"Aren't we missing someone?"
Sean, Seiran, and Lily were too engrossed with the photos on the camera to hear Uriel's question.
Meanwhile, Lucifer was... well, we'll let you decide that. But we assure you, it wasn't pretty.
Until the next party!
