A.N. I'm back with another segment! Thanks to everyone for voting in the last chapter, and the decision was definitely option C, and as normal, I start out with the option chosen. I had 5 votes for C, and 2 votes for A. (This is including my writers group votes.) Anyways, shout out time!

GUEST: I don't know who you are, but that's totally fine! You should join fictionpress! We would all love to have you become a member. And yes, a popular crowd. What school spy or not, doesn't have one? You will have to see how these alpha-brats do throughout the story- see if their status stays as such.

FEARANDBRAVERY: Thanks so much for the vote! Means so much to me! It looks like your option was chosen, so that's a plus.

BTW- Fearandbravery finally revealed herself to me, and you guys all totally need to go check out her work! She's my bestest friend in the whole wide world, and she finally joined the world of fictionpress! How exciting is that? If you all want to go check out her essay she just wrote and give her some encouraging words, that would be great. :)

Anyways, that was a long author's note. Here I am blabbing away, and you all probably want to get on with the story. Well, take a look and let me know what you think, and of course, as always, VOTE!

"I failed." Halee's response was immediate, and Mr. Brawton put down his papers and met her gaze through his small spectacles on the end of his nose. The two stared at each other for a few long minutes, the ticking of the clock on his wall behind him the only sound breaking the silence. Finally Mr. Brawton blinked and looked down at the papers in front of him, and then turned them around and handed them to Halee.

"Addleson, I think there are some things you need to know about." He handed Halee the papers. She looked down at the stack he held out to her, unsure if she should take them. What should she know about? Her scores at school? Had she been expelled? The title of the first page stood out. In bold letters across the top was her name. She gulped, then raised her hand to take the sheets, and brought them closer to her. Mr. Brawton leaned over his desk and folded his hands on top, looking at her through his spectacles as she cautiously leafed over to the second page of the papers. Her birth certificate.

"Where did you…" Halee broke the silence, and dropped the first page to the floor, scanning over the document.

"Don't ask questions yet. Read on." Mr. Brawton replied, and Halee glanced up at him, confused, but looked back down at the stack and continued leafing through them all. She wanted to continue to look at her birth certificate, to find out who her birth parents were, but her curiosity got the better of her, so she continued reading.

The rest of the papers seemed like official notes, possibly from a doctors evaluation, or maybe even a psychologists. Halee noticed her last name in the right hand corner of the worn papers. Where did they get these? Nothing seemed to catch her eye, just a bunch of lingo Halee didn't quite understand.

"What is this?" Halee asked, hands poised in midair, holding the documents. Mr. Brawton sniffed and brought his beefy hand up to wipe his nose and sat up a little straighter, putting his hands in his lap.

"Didn't you read it?" He asked, glancing from the document up to her face several times. Halee shrugged.

"I don't understand it." She replied simply, meeting his eyes. Mr. Brawton sighed and leaned back in his chair, putting his hands behind his head.

"Did you even read anything in the paperwork?" He asked, sounding impatient, and Halee shrugged again.

"I didn't find anything worth reading," she paused, "sir," she added after seeing his perturbed look. Silence reigned again for several moments, when Mr. Brawton finally inhaled and spoke.

"Addleson, I don't know how to put this to you, but-"

A- "You're parents," he waved his hand down to her paperwork, and Halee glanced at the birth certificate. "They used to work for us, and they disappeared many years ago, about the time you were born. We wanted them back, but couldn't keep track of where they went. You see, they took something from us that doesn't belong to them, and we need it back, or it could get into the wrong hands. Do you see where I'm going with this?" Mr. Brawton had leaned forward again, eyes boring into Halee.

B- "You're scientifically modified. You were born that way." Halee blinked a couple of times, trying to process the blow.

"You're parents," Mr. Brawton waved down to the papers in her hands, and Halee glanced down at the birth certificate, "were scientifically modified as well, and when you were born, we found that the modifications could be passed onto to you." Mr. Brawton paused a moment. "But then you all disappeared."

C- "You used to be one of our agents." Halee scrunched up her eyebrows in confusion. She wasn't that old to begin with. How?

"You were one of the best we had, and one day, you disappeared when you were about eleven or twelve, and we couldn't find you until just recently." Halee's mind whirred with so many thoughts. Why didn't she know this? Why didn't she remember?
