The Great Divide

Standing right before you,

Yet my screams of love refuse to fall upon your gentle ears.

What must I do?

For every action I try to make,

It appears that your eyes take it the wrong way.

I try still.

But a bouquet of flowers becomes a crime against nature.

A well written poem becomes a waste of paper.

A spontaneous kiss becomes "See you later".

What now?

The easiest choice would be giving up.

But I'm not used to living life the easy way.

Open your palms.

As I lay my heart down, I promise to love only you.

I strive to be a better man.

Just to stand close to you.

So thank you.

Thank you for keeping me on my toes.

For laughing with an honest heart though you had your woes.

For saying sorry when you never had to.

Love takes time.

Although it seems like we are two worlds apart.

Standing here for you is me and my beating heart.

It's been a while since I felt this way.

Where every thought I have involves how to make you smile.

So let's take a chance,

And by the end of this night,

Let us fall helplessly in beautiful romance.
