Spirit Child
Her eyes wander the crowd
Feeling oh so hollow and so lost
Only wanting to be found
No matter what the cost
A sound alights upon her ear:
A babe's distressing cry!
Her eyes fill with sadness and fear
As she remembers the past with a sigh
A heavy hand she goes to place
Upon her woman's hollow
-a sadly empty space-
Her mounting tears she swallows
For it wasn't always empty
Indeed it once held life;
But that life she never got to see
Due to the surgeon's knife
But as soon as it was done
She realized her horrid loss;
That daughter or sin
Was too high a cost!
The dam, now, has cracked
Her sorrows begin to flow
For the child that she lacks
And now will never know!
