Luc:

A flame with a charred arrow shot through it it, with text reading "The World Will Burn" superimposed on it. The symbol of The Leagues. An insignia pinned through the tight dark blue fabric on my chest, a symbol of who I am. Some would say this is only who I've become since losing Cassi, but that's not true. This darkness, this shadow of the flame, this has always lurked in me. Cassi kept it in check, let me see the light in the world. What I didn't realize until it was too late is that she was the light. When the Federation took her from the Colonies to kill her, the light was put out.

A lesson I learned early in my life is this: if something already happened, don't pretend it didn't happen. It did. Don't try to change what happened. You won't be able to. Work with what is left, if anything, and just try to stay alive. When they put out the light, when they killed Cassi, I didn't try to pretend that any light was left. I worked with all that was left: the darkness in me. I joined The Leagues, the people who understood the darkness and told me I could direct it into the destruction of the Federation, to make them pay for every drop of blood they spilled. Not just from Cassi, but from all of my people, all of the people they punished just for being born in the Colony. I will punish them the same way. Despite the slogan of The Leagues, I'm not interested in making the world burn. I just want to turn the Federation to ash.
