I wonder what it would be like

To take that extra step

Off the sidewalk.

What it would be like

To keep my foot heavy

On the gas pedal

To close my eyes

And take that drop

Into everlasting peace

To swallow and fade

Into the tunnel of rest and silence

To watch life seep through cracks

Onto the floor, into the tub

Staining my existence

On the physical world.

What would it be like

To be an ornament

Of my house

Hanging from the beams,

From the rafters

I sit there everyday

And wonder
