KNOCK KNOCK

There's a little house down the street that looks as ordinary as any other. Inside that house lives a young boy and his family. Every night starts the same and leaves the young boy sleep deprived. He'll close his eyes and try to sleep, only to hear a knocking sound from downstairs.

His parents have been told about the noises and claim they don't hear anything. They say that the boy is only imagining these sounds, and yet they return every night. Louder and louder they get. The boy finds his body growing increasingly restless as the knocking continues to grow louder.

KNOCK KNOCK

There it goes again. The boy shakes in his covers as the knocking continues to go on. After a while of having to endure this torture, the boy gets out of his bed and follows the sound.

KNOCK KNOCK

It grows louder with every step he takes. Whatever is in the basement must be getting excited.

KNOCK KNOCK

He's now at the door to his basement. Opening the door makes the boy feel uncomfortable. He looks down and sees nothing but darkness. The little bit of light that touches the room only shows off the stairs. The boy looks down at the dark stairs, stairs that somehow scare him more than the darkness at the end of them.

KNOCK KNOCK

The boy takes a deep breathe and takes his first couple of steps. Nervously, he looks back while walking down. The familiar atmosphere of his house disappears as it gets swallowed in the basements darkness.

KNOCK KNOCK

Now the boy is in the basement. It's a large room that appears overwhelming to the young boy. The cold concrete floor makes his skin prickle and the old furniture lying around makes the room seem like a relic that's been forgotten.

KNOCK KNOCK

The knocking continues. The boy turns his head and sees where the knocking is taking place. There's a part of the basement that's closed off by a wooden door. On the door is a bronze colored handle with a keyhole. Whatever is inside may be trying to get out.

KNOCK KNOCK

Feelings of dread fill the boys head as he walks carefully to the door. The handle remains still, waiting to be touched.

KNOCK KNOCK

The door is shaking with every knock made against it. The boy looks at the handle and takes a deep breath. Either he opens the door or continues to let the knocking haunt him. Without a second thought, the boy opens the door and looks inside.

The knocking has stopped.

Inside the room is darkness. More darkness than the boy has seen anywhere else. He steps inside and looks around, wondering if his parents were right about him imagining the noises. As he walks further inside, the door behind him slams shut and the darkness swallows him.
