Breath of Life
Colors become brighter, greens are more green
and the sun seems more yellow too.
Vision becomes clearer, sharper and curious again
my body beginning to buzz with an annoying curiosity.
My heart sheds off its' baby weight and smiles,
the corners of her eyes crinkling, spinning on its' toes
across the cavity's floor, around around around
Just because.
I want to dive back in, standing precariously at the edge
of the pool, glancing at the water, my short breaths
are eager;
I laugh and
Jump! the water surrounds me, filling my ears and covering my hair
I breathe out the bubbles and open my eyes, watching my legs splail
(I used to think that the deeper you went the harder it would be to get
back up);
Now I can't help but wiggle downwards, trying to get closest to the bottom,
farther and farther away from (shore).
I want to be near you.
I want you to fill my lungs and ears and nose and mouth just like this rising
water; I want to be so dangerously lost inside you that there may be some chance
I get lost, or drown, and never come back.
I want you.
The silence beneath the depths is serene and infinitely beautiful, I blink up at the
sunlight hitting the surface and raise my hand, watching my fingers curl in your direction.
I want you.
I blink, and blink again; It's not hard to breathe here, I allow the water to overtake me
seeping into every crack and vein and piece of me.
I want you.
And I'd jump over and over
and over again, never pleading for a rescue.
