3- Saturday

Morgana woke up. Sunlight trickled in through the window. She walked to the kitchen and found a note from her mother.

Please, accompany Prudence and Gideon to the park. I would do it myself, but I need to cover someone else's shift.

The others will be helping chaperone. If anything goes wrong, they all have my work number.

The two younger Franklin children were still in their rooms, getting ready.

The park was only a short walk from the staff apartments. A throng of other children ran around the field.

Prudence and Gideon ran off to join the others.

"You too?" A familiar voice said.

Morgana spotted a girl in a jean jacket, ripped t-shirt and jeans standing by a tree. "Amanda? You're here too?"

Amanda nodded. "Dad's at the asylum, still making preparations for tonight. He asked me to watch my brothers." She pointed at three boys running around in the grass. A larger boy about Gideon's age tossed a football. One of the three caught it. He tossed it to one of his brothers, who then ran in the other direction.

"That's Joseph." Amanda said. "I think he's Charlie's son."

Morgana thought. "Isn't he the big guy?"

Amanda nodded. "Looks like he'll be as big as his father when he grows up."

Prudence was talking with another one of the staff's children: a girl with curly blond hair. Gideon joined the Drake boys in their game.

Morgana sat down at the base of the tree.

A few hours later, Morgana and her two tired siblings walked back home. Morgana unlocked the apartment door. She went to her room. Her siblings did the same.

The phone rang. Morgana got up and answered the phone. "Hello?"

"Oh, hey, Morgana?" Amanda said.

"This is her." Morgana replied.

"Uh, are you doing anything tomorrow?"

Morgana thought for a moment. "Not that I know of. Mom's off work."

"Um, would you like to go to the mall tomorrow?"

"I'll have to let my parents know." Morgana replied.
