Time

How have you been since my dad last knocked
On your door, armed with no light…but
With my brother swaddled in cotton socks,

Arms and legs bundled tight,
Rosy cheeks burning hot
Even though it's a dead winter night?

Years flew past, your time, once on the clock.
Onward ticking with us despite we are yellow and you're white…Yet
Under our skins, you saw the same red dots

That feeds love its life.
You loved with everything you got
And infinitely gave to us though you are finite.

Your time has long left the clock
But I still look at my wrist every night
And remember our hours through this watch
Hoping though your time has left, you have not.
